Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System
Chapter 734 - 734: The Competition (2)Gijion came to a halt, his eyes widening as he stared at Kent, as if he had seen some kind of monster. Kent, on the other hand, stood there looking at Gijion with a frown.
“What happened? Why aren’t you moving?” Kent asked.
Gijion looked at him, then at the hundred flame arrows, and a sigh escaped his lips.
“I accept defeat,” Gijion said with another sigh and smiled.
Looking at the number of arrows, each about 2 meters long and all aimed at him, everyone in the arena knew there was no way he would be able to defend, even if just two of those arrows shot toward him.
‘Did I go too far?’ Kent wondered. To him, conjuring just 100 arrows was the basic level he could go when the true form of the skill was put into consideration.
The skill he used was the same one used against ‘Chaos during his battle to liberate the people of Lumen from the tyranny of the three Great Families.
But back then, the person conjured thousands of arrows, daggers, swords, spears, and various other types of weapons. They even added Spiritual Qi to the mix, making the true attack much more deadly.
Kent merely used 100 arrows, and the young man simply couldn’t understand how a person could harness that much flame energy into a single attack.
Queen Jascia watched Kent’s display with a slightly widened expression.
“He is dangerous. That is for sure. Considering that he is able to form this many arrows made purely out of fire, he must have a large pool of soul essence.”
King Thalirion smiled and nodded. “I’ve already told you he is no simple person. Adding him to the competition is already too much for someone of his caliber.”
“I can see that now. The question now is, is that his limit, or can he do more than that?”
While the queen was coming to terms with what to think of Kent, the man in question put out the fire arrows and walked out onto the stage under the watchful eyes of everyone competing and the audience.
“He is a monster,” one said, watching Kent walk away.
“I guess this answers our question of who will be making our top five lose a spot. I just pray he doesn’t meet someone like Madea or Norion. If he were to defeat them, I would be pissed.”
“Me too. However, you can’t deny… his joining our side will indeed raise our standard if he were to enter the sect.”
“That is indeed true. Though he is a human, he will be entering the sect under the banner of the Half-Elves. With his display just now, I have no doubt he will become someone worth paying attention to when he gets into the sect.”
“Then I guess he’s taking one spot; it isn’t too bad.”
Slowly, people started to adapt to this new change.
At first, no one knew anything about Kent, the only human in the competition. However, now they seemed to start seeing his strength from just a single display, and looking at what he was able to show, they all didn’t seem to think Kent taking a spot would be a bad thing.
If anything, they were thrilled to have him among them.
Of course, this acceptance stemmed from the fact that the guardianship Kent held over them compelled them to like him rather than resent him.
Being a guardian of a race means their safety is in his hands. Kent would have to travel millions of miles to save them if, one day in the future, they found themselves in trouble.
So, having that much responsibility must also have some perks, and one of them is the love they are showing him.
They saw him as one of their own, and Kent also felt deeply within his heart how much he would do and how far he would go for them.
Just like how he would rain hellfire on anyone who dared touch Li Hua, he would do the same for the Foxkins and the Half-Elves simply because he was their guardian.
After Kent walked off the stage, a few more battles happened before the first round of the competition ended. It took six hours, but every last one inside the arena had fun.
But 1,102 had washed out, and no one frowned or cried. They had already expected this outcome when they registered, so their failure was received in good faith.
Then again, walking away with a 1,000-year-old Soul Cleansing Berry wasn’t too bad. If they were to purchase them from the Fox kingdom, since they were the ones who had such a type of spirit fruit, it would have cost them no less than a hundred million spirit stones.
So this was good.
Lord Yael appeared again to address the 1,102 remaining.
“That was a good first round. But unfortunately, we are still not close to having our top five. We will then proceed to a second round, which is also an elimination-type round.
Just as before, the pairing is random, so be prepared when your number is revealed on the board. Also, like with the first round, only flame-type skills—”
Everyone nodded.
“On that note, we will start the second round now. And may the 551 who would qualify for the third have a good fight.”
The first battle was between 28 and 560.
Just as before, it was a pure display of flame manipulation, one in which everyone showcased their understanding of the flame.
Number 28 won, but it was a fierce battle that lasted only two minutes. By the time the battle was over, everyone realized some people had hidden their prowess in the first round.
This became apparent as more battles happened.
Even the top five everyone was rooting for this time had to put in some effort before they managed to defeat their opponents.
Kent realized that perhaps this wasn’t all too bad. He scammed every last one of them, and aside from a few who were 98 years old, all those performing remarkably well were under 90 years old, meaning most of them would have two more chances to enter the Flame Tower before they turned 100 years old.
Of course, he knew that next time, when they got 15 slots like their queen promised them, the Supreme Immortal Sect would start to see an influx of Half-Elves in the coming years.
Kent would make sure of that. He had the means, the resources, and the tools to make them rise through the ranks quickly, so he planned to do just that.
As the guardian, he knew the stronger they got, the more soul essence he would receive.
After more battles occurred, Kent’s number appeared. He was paired against another dude. They walked onto the stage and faced each other 20 meters apart.
