Chapter 5786 Return

Seeing everyone staring at her, Yu Mo tried to explain herself.

“I-I only wanted him to use my tablet to enter my cave and wait for me…”

“Quickly, lock down the battlefield!” someone shouted urgently.

Shaking his head, the three-eyed elder gloomily said, “It’s too late. It’s been two hours. He’s long gone.”

"No! Anyone on the battlefield who sees him will definitely try to stop him! It’s not too late if we give the order now!" one of them protested, unwilling to accept it.

“He is carrying Yu Mo’s tablet. Who dares to stop him? If they really dared to stop him, then he wouldn’t have managed to leave the city,” replied the three-eyed elder.

"Then what can we do?!" The group was anxious, like ants on a hot plate.

Now that Ying Wudao had fled, their nerves were fraying. If he reached the rainbow wing race and revealed this hidden piece of history, the consequences would be catastrophic—something none of them could afford to bear.

“What else can we do? We can only hope for him to die in the violet blood race’s hands,” said the three-eyed elder.

“In truth, there’s no need for everyone to be so worried.”

A small, shadowy figure stepped forward from a dim corner.

He belonged to a branch of the shadow devil race, who was renowned for their cunning and skill in assassination. Their intelligence was as sharp as their blades.

When the other heard him speak up, their eyes brightened.

“Please explain!”

The shadow devil spoke calmly, “First of all, Ying Wudao’s strength is mediocre at best. He’s unlikely to escape the violet blood race’s lockdown. Second, even if he does manage to flee, it hardly affects us. After all, we are a unified alliance, not any single race.”

“What do you mean?”

The shadow devil explained, “To put it bluntly, after this battle, once the spoils are divided, we will all return to our respective races. Even if Ying Wudao survives, who will he accuse? Each of your races has countless branches. Finding us would be like searching for a needle in the ocean. Furthermore, the rainbow wing race itself is vast. Who will even believe his words? And even if they do, who would risk standing up for him?

“Besides, this entire incident is an ugly stain on the rainbow wing race. If Ying Wudao is smart, he’ll bury this secret forever. If he speaks of it, his life will be in danger. Rather than seeking revenge, his own kin will likely silence him to cover it up. After all, the easiest way to erase this embarrassment is to eliminate him. We certainly won’t announce what happened. So, what’s there to worry about? Our focus should remain on dealing with the violet blood race.”

“Miao Ah, you really are sharp,” someone praised before bursting into laughter. “Hahaha, if you put it like that, it seems like there really is nothing to worry about.”

“Exactly! Once this battle is over, we’ll return to our respective clans. As long as we keep our mouths shut, who will ever know?”

“Even if they do find out, would the rainbow wing race really humiliate themselves further? Their best move is to act like this never happened.”

“Hahaha!”

Everyone couldn’t help laughing. Their earlier panic now seemed foolish.

The three-eyed elder nodded approvingly. Miao Ah’s reasoning was flawless. There was no need for unnecessary concern.

Yu Mo finally let out a breath of relief. Had it not been for this analysis, she would have had to bear the wrath of the entire alliance. Her lineage would have been doomed.

“Alright,” the three-eyed elder declared. “We won’t bother with Ying Wudao. No need to send pursuers, and just focus on the violet blood race. Once this meeting is over, execute the rainbow wing race. Don’t leave any evidence. As for everything else, we will proceed according to plan.”

With that, the group dispersed, and a tense air settled over the devil race’s headquarters.

“Long Chen, are you really not worried about Evilmoon?”

This time, the one asking was the Dragon Sovereign, not the Earth Cauldron.

Long Chen was silent for a moment before answering, “I trust that Evilmoon won’t betray me. Whether it is righteous or evil makes no difference to me. No matter its past or what it has done, as long as it treats me sincerely, I can lay down my life for it.”

“Good.”

Unexpectedly, the Dragon Sovereign sounded pleased. It seemed to hold a different perspective from the Earth Cauldron.

After that, the Dragon Sovereign fell silent. Long Chen wanted to ask about the Dragonblood Legion and the dragon race, but their connection had already been severed.

Furthermore, their conversation had been hidden from the Earth Cauldron. That made Long Chen scratch his head.

It became increasingly clear that the relationships between the Dragon Sovereign, the Earth Cauldron, and Dragonbone Evilmoon were far more complex than Long Chen had imagined. However, none of that mattered to him. Evilmoon was still Evilmoon. It treated him the same, and so he saw no reason to change how he treated it.

When Long Chen held Evilmoon, their souls connected. They were comrades—one man and one saber, bound by life and death. How could he doubt it? That was simply not in his nature.

Long Chen also felt that Evilmoon’s origins were beyond ordinary, but that was irrelevant. He could entrust it with his life, and that was all that mattered.

In the end, the Earth Cauldron was a divine item and couldn’t fully understand human emotions. But the Dragon Sovereign clearly understood Long Chen’s heart.

With the Dragon Sovereign’s support, Long Chen felt more at ease. He had been unsettled after rejecting the Earth Cauldron’s warning. Though the Earth Cauldron acknowledged him as its master and obeyed his will, Long Chen still respected it as a senior. Yet, this time, he simply could not heed its advice.

“What are you doing back here?!”

A furious roar snapped Long Chen out of his thoughts. To his surprise, he actually encountered the devil monster with the massive broadsword again. Back then, Long Chen had used him as an excuse to enter the devil race’s hive.

Seeing Long Chen again, the devil monster’s eyes burned with rage as he pointed his broadsword at Long Chen, his killing intent sharp as a blade.

Long Chen ignored that killing intent and continued walking unperturbed. This blatant disregard enraged the devil monster, so he lunged forward, intending to teach Long Chen a lesson.

Just as he moved, Long Chen pulled out Yu Mo’s life tablet and casually tossed it at him.

The devil monster instinctively caught it, his fury turning to shock. He instantly recognized the runes on it—this was a keepsake of the highest authorities in the devil race.

The moment he realized whose it was, a streak of sword-light flashed.

Long Chen’s firm hand gripped the devil monster’s severed head, and he continued walking toward the violet blood race.

The headless corpse collapsed, still clutching the tablet, but Long Chen had disappeared into the distance.

Restoring his original appearance, Long Chen put on his own tablet. Just as he did, it started flashing rapidly.

“Not good!”

Long Chen’s expression darkened. Lightning wings flared from his back, and in a flash, he shot toward the violet blood race like a bolt of lightning.
