Chapter 5784 Evilmoon’s Secret
“Evilmoon, you’re awake?”
Long Chen was pleasantly surprised. The last time he had heard from Evilmoon was in the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm, where it had absorbed an enormous amount of blood soul energy. At that time, Evilmoon had declared it was on the verge of a breakthrough.
To let Evilmoon peacefully make this breakthrough, Long Chen hadn’t disturbed it all this time. But now, Evilmoon had awoken on its own.
“This is perfect timing,” Evilmoon said excitedly. “During my seclusion, I discovered that the energy I’d gathered was far from enough. But now, you’ve found such a precious place!”
Since unlocking its first seal and entering the Waning Moon state, Evilmoon had been fixated on breaking the second seal. Unlike before, this required its own comprehension rather than external energy. As a result, Evilmoon didn’t fight alongside Long Chen as much.
The main reason, however, was that Long Chen himself had grown powerful enough to handle most situations without its help.
That irritated Evilmoon. After all, it loathed feeling unnecessary, like a forgotten relic.
Now, Long Chen had the Earth Cauldron, the Heaven Flipping Seal, and the Demon Moon Cauldron. These treasures provided him with ample support, with the Heaven Flipping Seal proving especially valuable in the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm.
Evilmoon wanted to be the boss, not some side character. Thus, it was in a rush to open the second seal.
In its seclusion, it had finally glimpsed the method to break it. However, it lacked the accumulated energy needed to complete the process. Frustrated, it had emerged from seclusion—only to find Long Chen standing at the altar of the devil race.
“A precious place? Are you saying…?” Long Chen hesitated.
Evilmoon chuckled. “Do you really need to ask? Haven’t you always done things this way? Since we’re here, we should take everything!”
“Hold on, think this through. We’re in the heart of the devil race’s hive,” Long Chen warned, quickly explaining his predicament.
“Oh, you are in deep shit…” Evilmoon was shocked. “You’re telling me you snuck into the devil race’s headquarters alone? And there’s a terrifying mid-stage violet-crown Devil Emperor right outside? Not to mention who knows how many other monstrous existences? If you get exposed, you’re done for. What did you actually come here for?”
“I know,” Long Chen admitted. “I wasn’t entirely sure what I was looking for. I just wanted to see if there was something I could do or get.”
In truth, Long Chen himself was unsure why he had come. Since Ying Wudao had given him such an opportunity, Long Chen was unwilling to waste it.
Long Chen said, “I was planning on having the Earth Cauldron modify the dagger’s runes. Then, I’ll leave it at the altar and detonate it remotely.”
That was his original plan. According to Ying Wudao, the altar’s baptism would grant the devil race’s heavenly geniuses an unfathomable level of power. If Long Chen were alone in this place, he would have liked the idea of challenging such strong enemies.
However, Long Chen couldn’t endanger the violet blood race on a reckless whim. If his carelessness led to their losses, he would bear the blame and feel guilty. The lives of the Luo family’s disciples were not his to gamble with.
“Don’t, that’s too wasteful. Let me share something with you,” replied Evilmoon.
A blood-drenched world appeared in Long Chen’s mind, gradually shrinking until it condensed into a massive, pulsating heart.
“Is this the altar?” Long Chen asked.
“This altar is inside the heart,” Evilmoon explained. “Based on my memories, this is a giant devil’s heart that has formed its own world. In the primal chaos era, it was quite famous. It’s a breeding divine item that possesses immense bloodline power. Leave me here. I’ll absorb its energy, along with the energy it’s gathering.”
Long Chen hadn’t expected this altar to actually be located in a heart. For a heart to form its own world, just how strong did its owner have to be? The devil race from the primal chaos era was indeed frightening.
Before he could respond, a subtle ripple stirred in his consciousness. It was the Earth Cauldron, speaking to him in a grave tone.
“You must be cautious,” it warned. “Evilmoon’s origins are extraordinary. You cannot trust it completely.”
Long Chen was taken aback. The Earth Cauldron had never spoken to him like this before.
“The moment I saw Evilmoon, I recognized it. But my memories contain no further information about it—as if some force has deliberately erased them. That alone makes it dangerous. If you leave it here to absorb this blood soul energy, it might escape your control. In the future, no one knows whether it will remain your ally or turn against you. Think carefully,” the Earth Cauldron urged.
Long Chen’s heart shook. The Earth Cauldron rarely spoke so solemnly to him. Furthermore, it was talking about Evilmoon—the comrade who had fought alongside him for so many years.
The Earth Cauldron never spoke lightly. For it to be this serious, the matter had to be of grave importance.
“Perhaps you should ask the old dragon,” it suggested.
Long Chen took a deep breath. “Thank you for the warning. I understand. But Evilmoon is my comrade. We share life and death, and I choose to trust it… forever.”
“You must truly consider this. Its origins might surpass your imagination. It could even be linked to the destruction of the nine heavens and ten lands,” the Earth Cauldron pressed.
Without hesitation, Long Chen replied, “Its origins mean nothing to me. It has entrusted its life to me, and I will entrust mine to it. I will never betray anyone. If Evilmoon one day chooses to betray me, that will be its decision. But as for me, I will stand by it to the end.”
Long Chen’s response was firm and decisive. With that, Long Chen severed his connection to the Earth Cauldron and turned back to Evilmoon.
Long Chen said, “Since you’ve decided, I’ll use Ying Wudao’s aura to send you inside this sack. Keep your aura hidden, or you’ll be exposed. Kill the one inside and use her aura to mask yourself. Don’t slip up, or we’re finished”
“Don’t worry,” replied Evilmoon.
Long Chen nodded. With a surge of devil qi, a rainbow divine light flickered. He carefully inserted a tiny Evilmoon into the sack.
The sack quivered and then went still. Everything proceeded smoothly. The one inside did not even struggle before being killed. Using her aura, Evilmoon successfully disguised itself.
“Time's up! Come out!” the elder’s voice rang out.
Long Chen’s body was yanked out. Meanwhile, the cut on the sack healed seamlessly, and everything appeared normal.
Inside the sack, Evilmoon muttered darkly to itself. “That Earth Cauldron, how dare it talk about me like that? Just wait, I’ll blow you up again sooner or later! Eh? Wait… again? Have I… blown it up before?”
It heard everything the Earth Cauldron had said to Long Chen.
