MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1494 - 1494: Myriad Prodigies: Final Round (5)

“Well, well, well… to think that we’re already three days into the final round of the tournament.”

Watching as the crowd slowly got their seats, Schubert went ahead and roused their excitement, reminding them the reason why he entered the amphitheater once more.

“Throughout the past few days, we’ve slowly whittled down the number of participants from 4,096 to 256, leaving us with the participants that have shown both the most strength and most wit out of all their competitors.”

“Naturally, many of them we’ve recognized by now,” said the man with a smile.

“The Frost Spear Queen, the Lord of Flames, the Ruler of Shadows… these fights have only cemented their reputation even further, their renown now covering the entire region under the kingdom’s rule.”

“Of course, there are more notable ones among them, such as the Sage of Six Swords,” he continued. “However, this reduction in numbers has also brought people originally unknown to many to the limelight.”

“A good example of this is Ylvar’s student, Ataraxia.” Schubert smiled, noticing the crowd loudly cheer the moment he mentioned the young man’s name.

“Previously only known to the Astella region and its circles, this tournament has pretty much shot his reputation up to be almost at the same level as his teacher, if not better in some ways.”

“With that being said, this round of fights will determine the first batch of 128 people that would move on to the final tournament that would be held in the future,” said Schubert, the excitement of the crowd reaching a crescendo.

“Of course, there’s no need for all of the fights to go on at the same time, unlike the previous rounds that we’ve seen so far.”

“Because of that, I’ll be able to give everyone here a bit more detail regarding the participants that would fighting against each other!”

At those words, the crowd let out a mix of cheers, shouts, and applause in response, causing the smile on Schubert’s smile to widen even further.

“Now then, let us begin our first fight for the top 128!”

“…When are you going to fight?”

Briefly glancing at the first fight of the current round, Valyr took a bite of the meal he ordered as he asked Ataraxia a question.

“38th on the list,” answered the latter in return, munching down on his snack soon after. “You?”

“17th,” replied the young man, continuing to savor the food as both of them continued to watch the ongoing fight in silence.

With over 80% of the participants having lost the chance to reach the top 128 without any losses, the organizers took it upon themselves to give those that still remained victorious a heads-up of who they were fighting a day in advance.

Just as the matches for the top 256 had ended, the 256 participants that still had no losses in the final round were handed information on their respective competitors, which briefly left some of them at a loss for words.

After all, with all of them being given information on who they were up against in advance, the remaining fights of the final round wouldn’t be a matter that mostly involved luck and strength anymore.

Now, they also had to take their strategy into consideration, especially for those who were unlucky enough to be matched up with an opponent that countered all of the skills.

Of course, with the manipulation of Lunarossa behind the scenes, both Valyr and Ataraxia were still matched up with opponents that were relatively weaker than them.

However, that did not mean that they were weaker by any means.

If anything, the opponents they had to fight against to enter the top 128 had skill sets that more or less countered the combat styles they’d shown throughout the tournament thus far.

Though this wasn’t really a problem to both of them, the two still decided to read up on their opponents, even more so since the top 256 was already considered the kingdom’s cream of the crop.

“Who are you gonna fight again?” By the time he finished his meal, Valyr noticed that the 3rd fight of the current round had begun, gradually inching him closer to it being his turn.

“Yarkov Leidanus,” replied Ataraxia, still munching on his snacks. “The one Schubert called the Resilient Human Fortress.”

“…Ah, yeah,” said Valyr after going silent for a bit, faintly nodding. “The guy who forced all of his opponents to a battle of attrition.”

“How about you?” asked Ataraxia in return. “As far as I know, your opponent counters your stealth, right?”

“By making use of multiple domains.” Valyr nodded, not minding it that much. “No surprise why she’s called the Weaver of Nature if we consider that.”

Continuing to discuss about their respective opponents a bit further, the two eventually returned their attentions to the ongoing fights through the magic screens, feeling a bit of nervousness creep up within them the more fights had finished.

At some point during their waiting, it was finally Valyr’s turn to take center stage.

“…I’m sure all of us here know the first participant to come up on the main platform.”

Saying these words all of a sudden in a confident tone, Schubert had successfully caught the attention of the entire crowd as they looked at him.

Smiling in return, he continued, “The only person recognized by the Arbiter during the Rise to Prominence tournament, the person that has been noted to have successfully defeated a Myth while still being mortal.”

One by one, the man began to list feats incomprehensible to the normal person, causing the crowd to gradually burst with further excitement.

“On the frontlines, he was first known as the Azure Blade. Though, with the feats he achieved, among them being the claim to kill the one of the orc race’s Grand Chieftain, he eventually known as the Warlord of the East.”

“In any case, whether it be his ferocious combat strength, or his mastery over the art of blacksmithing, almost everyone has paid attention to this prodigy, with his feats in the tournament pushing his reputation even higher.”

“With all of that said, let me introduce you to the tournament’s Traceless Spear… the renowned Mythslayer…”

“…Ylvar!”

“Ylvar.”
