Chaos Heir

Chapter 1209 Enlightenment

Chapter 1209 Enlightenment

Khan had only summoned a single spark, but that minuscule tinge of mana was enough to take control of the training hall. Despite the chaos-resistant materials, the metal surfaces released disturbing noises, and the menus gave up on remaining stable altogether.

Nevertheless, Liiza didn't let any of that interference disturb her inspection. Her wide, captivated eyes were glued to the spark shining and raging under her, as if it were one of the greatest marvels in the universe.

Liiza's stupor had two main reasons, and her expertise was the most obvious. She was a Shaman, while Khan was a unique existence, and the same went for his iteration of his element. That wild, mighty mana echoed his nature, highlighting its dangerous, destructive beauty.

The second reason came from Liiza's species. The Niqols didn't have the chaos element, and very few of Nitis' monsters could produce valuable iterations due to the many mutations that afflicted them.

That was Liiza's first time witnessing the chaos element in all its deadly splendor, and the experience was priceless. Her already broad perspective broadened even more, adding pieces of knowledge her planet and education couldn't provide.

Liiza couldn't help but let go of Khan's neck, lowering her hands toward the raging spark. Her fingers and palms formed two cups, seemingly wanting to encapsulate that tinge of thunderous mana, isolating it from any wind that could blow it away.

"[Careful]," Khan warned, but Liiza only smiled lovingly, keeping her gaze on the blinding purple-red spark. Her hands reached its sides, hovering above Khan's stretched finger to experience the destruction he had summoned.

Worry filled Khan's mind when he saw the spark release a tinge of destructive mana that headed for Liiza's palms. He was about to dismiss his energy when the mental connection updated him on what Liiza felt during that clash. Her skin didn't open or break. She only experienced a pleasant tingle that made her giggle.

The same didn't apply to Khan's finger. His flesh had improved by leaps and bounds after inheriting the Great Old One's genes, but the spark still attempted to damage it, and given enough time, it would succeed.

Liiza didn't miss that detail, so she hurried her inspection. Her left hand remained in its place, but her right one opened, diving toward the spark.

Khan couldn't help but feel dumbfounded. He was destruction incarnate. He could turn living beings into dust with a mere thought. His sole presence had become unbearable for most environments, but Liiza didn't suffer at all from her closeness to the source of his might.

If anything, Liiza couldn't stop smiling, enjoying the soft tingling sensations the chaos element sent through her palm. The process was completely harmless and somewhat pleasant. It almost seemed the spark was playing with her.

Still, Khan's finger was about to reach its limits, and Liiza retracted her hands at that point.

"[You can dismiss it now]," Liiza said, throwing one last smile at the spark.

Khan complied. His mana vanished, dispersing inside the training room, which recovered its stability. Yet, his stupor didn't wane. Liiza might have witnessed something incredible, but she wasn't alone in that.

"What exactly happened?" Khan wondered.

"I told you it wouldn't hurt me," Liiza claimed, looking triumphantly at Khan. "It's you, and you'd rather die than cause me any pain."

Khan blinked before glancing at his still-stretched finger. He knew the chaos element wasn't limited to destruction, but he had summoned it in its crackling shape. Liiza should have felt anything but harmless tingling.

"You took my cape," Khan exclaimed, "My manhood works for you, and now even my mana likes you more. Is this what marriage is?"

"I also took your hair," Liiza pointed out, exploding into a laugh before snuggling forward to sit on Khan's lap, "And you gave me all that willingly."

"I did," Khan sighed, faking a dramatic tone. "I just love seeing you happy too much."

The statement interrupted Liiza's laugh, making her pull Khan into a kiss.

"[I am happy]," Liiza whispered. "[And I love you, too]."

Liiza placed her forehead on Khan's, and he bathed in all the sensations that reached him. He would truly give everything he had to that woman. He probably already had.

"[Khan]," Liiza called, closing her eyes while more serious emotions seeped through the mental connection.

"[What is it]?" Khan asked.

"[You said the ancient horror told you your mana has no future]," Liiza mentioned, "[Right]?"

"[Thought more than told]," Khan corrected. "[It was inside my mind, when I did that training that required me to look at my tattoo to remain sane]."

"[Not now, stupid]," Liiza smiled, but her expression quickly returned serious. "[I know why it said that]."

Khan couldn't help but retract his face to stare at Liiza, and she straightened her back, too, opening her eyes only to divert them.

"[It was right]," Liiza declared. "[It's also why you hurt yourself when you summon your mana]."

Khan frowned. Liiza hated seeing Khan being hurt as much as he did. Usually, she would instantly tell him a solution, even scolding him in the process. Yet, Liiza now wore a complicated, conflicting expression, seemingly already regretting having said the previous words.

"[Why]?" Khan asked since Liiza didn't continue.

"[I-]," Liiza muttered, still avoiding Khan's gaze. "[I don't know if I should tell you]."

"[You aren't going to curse me again]," Khan reassured. "[As much as I hate it, you were right. I would have never been desperate enough to kidnap you if we didn't separate]."

"[It's not that]," Liiza shook her head, finally moving her eyes toward Khan, but only to place her hand at the center of his chest. "[Enlightenment should come from within. Knowing and accepting the truth are two different things]."

Liiza sighed, staring at Khan's chest, her intense mental conflict echoing past the connection between their brains. She was at a crossroads and didn't know what to do.

"[The proud, beautiful Shaman seems in a pickle]," Khan joked to lighten the mood.

"[Your proud, beautiful Shaman]," Liiza corrected through a scolding gaze. "[And yes, I don't know what to do. Because that's the part of you I hate the most, but it's also what made me fall hopelessly in love with you]."

"[We'll deal with it together, right]?" Khan reassured, pulling Liiza back on him. "[We'll stay true to that promise this time]."

Liiza couldn't express how warm she felt, and didn't need to. Yet, she still clung to Khan's chest while resting on his shoulder, seemingly attempting to scratch it with her black fingernails.

"[I'll do my best to make you realize it]," Liiza promised, "[To make you remember what you have lost. Still, if that stupid side of yours threatens to get you killed, I'll tell you directly]."
