Chapter 189: Leaving the Forbidden Land! A Question from the Great Emperors

Lin Liuli and Zhao Yunji, one on either side, clung tightly to Lin Qi’an. Another person, positioned behind him, held onto his back, minimizing their combined space as much as possible.

“Why… why aren’t we hiding in your spatial artifact?” Zhao Yunji bit her lips, her voice laced with both embarrassment and frustration.

She had never imagined herself in such a situation—pressing her body against a man, her whole figure burning with shame.

“You think opening the Lotus Realm doesn’t drain spiritual energy? I was utterly exhausted just now,” Lin Qi’an replied, feigning nonchalance.

“I suspect you’re doing this on purpose! Is it fun holding two women at once?” Lin Liuli’s voice was filled with irritation, and her fingers itched to punch Lin Qi’an in the chest.

Moments ago, he had been the radiant hero defeating the Emperor Corpse. Now, he was acting like a shameless rogue, holding the proud princess of Tai’an in one arm and the esteemed Daoist nun of Beiyang Tianjian City in the other.

Anyone witnessing this scene would likely lose their minds.

“Well, if you’re unhappy, you can always leave on your own. Whatever happens, I won’t be responsible,” Lin Qi’an replied with a smirk.

“You dare threaten me?” Lin Liuli huffed but begrudgingly accepted her position.

For now, she ignored his hand wrapped around her slender waist. ‘Just wait until we’re out of here, she thought. ‘Then, I’ll make him pay.’

“Look! The gate is opening!”

“Let’s go!”

Outside the ancient tomb in Tai’an City, a group of Great Emperor-level powerhouses stood waiting near the stone coffin.

The Sword Emperor, the Tai’an Emperor, the Blade Emperor, and the Kui Dragon Emperor were all present.

The three days had passed, and the ancient coffin was opening once more. These figures had come to welcome their god sons back, their hearts heavy with concern. The forbidden land was unimaginably perilous, and no one had ever returned alive before.

Outside the underground chamber, countless spectators waited anxiously. Among them were Lin Qi’an’s maids, all praying for his safe return. Whether these prodigies would emerge alive from the forbidden land was still an enigma.

“The ancient coffin is opening!”

As the space connected, a figure emerged. It was Zhao Yunji, her face flushed red.

Mere seconds before, she had been clinging tightly to Lin Qi’an. Unable to maintain her composure any longer, she had chosen to escape first.

“Yunji!” The Tai’an Emperor was overjoyed, rushing forward to receive his daughter. Seeing her emerge alive was an unparalleled relief.

The second to emerge was Lin Liuli.

The Sword Emperor smiled warmly. With Lin Liuli unharmed, it was a good sign that Lin Qi’an was also safe.

The third person was Yu Xianglan, the tenth-ranked Saintess.

Seeing her, who was relatively weak, walk out alive, the Great Emperors began to relax.

The Kui Dragon Emperor chuckled and transmitted his thoughts to a nearby ally. “If even this woman survived, the forbidden land might not be as dangerous as we thought. My son should be fine too.”

The Golden Crow Clan Patriarch nodded in agreement. “Hehe, perhaps we were too worried. I wonder what treasures they acquired inside?”

Another voice chimed in. “Do you think the Crown Prince of Beiyang, Lin Qi’an, perished? Many agreed to join forces and eliminate him. Leaving him alive would be a significant threat.”

“Let’s hope so. Otherwise, we’ll never sleep soundly again…”

Their conversation halted as the next figure stepped out of the coffin—Lin Qi’an himself.

“Qi’an!” The Sword Emperor rushed forward, inspecting his son. Seeing Lin Qi’an unharmed, he finally let out a sigh of relief.

“The fact that you and your sister are safe is all that matters. Let’s go. Your mother has been worried sick.”

The Great Emperors continued waiting as Lin Qi’an and his group departed.

An incense stick’s worth of time passed.

“Why haven’t they come out yet?” muttered Gu Jingyun anxiously.

“Yes, why hasn’t my son emerged?” asked the Kui Dragon Emperor, his voice tense.

“Nor has my heir. Could something have gone wrong?” the Golden Crow Clan Patriarch added, his expression grim.

Half an hour later, the ancient coffin sealed itself again.

The remaining Great Emperors were struck by despair, their faces pale as though struck by lightning.

“What happened? Why are so many missing?”

“Could they have been… killed?”

“Impossible! With their strength, how could they fall when even that woman survived?”

“Let’s question those who returned!”

Their target was clear—Lin Qi’an.

Back in his residence, Lin Qi’an was surrounded by his maids, his father, and his sister.

“Your Highness, please tell us what happened in the forbidden land!”

“Yes, we’re dying to know. Was it truly as dangerous as they say?”

Lin Qi’an, of course, wouldn’t reveal that he had killed several God Sons inside. Instead, he said, “Inside, we encountered villagers cursed with the Undying Curse Poison. No matter how many times we killed them, they regenerated—even when cut into pieces.”

“Ah… how terrifying!”

The maids turned pale, their delicate faces filled with shock and fear.

“The Undying Curse Poison?”

Upon hearing these words, even Lin Weixuan’s eyelid twitched uncontrollably. This poison was something he had only read about in ancient texts and had never seen anyone use in reality.

The thought of a curse that could grant immortality while inflicting eternal suffering was both terrifying and unfathomable. It confirmed just how perilous the forbidden land truly was.

“In the end, we also encountered an Emperor Corpse that could move. Zhao Yunji, my sister, and I worked together to defeat it before escaping.”

Lin Qi’an’s tone was casual, and he kept his explanation as brief as possible.

“An Emperor Corpse?!”

Lin Weixuan couldn’t hold back any longer and rushed forward. “You’re saying there was a living Emperor Corpse in there? One that could move?”

He could hardly believe it. How could a few young people possibly defeat such a terrifying entity?

An Emperor Corpse, the preserved flesh of a Great Emperor, was impervious to even Sacred Rank weapons. The mere thought of encountering one spelled certain death. No wonder no one had ever returned alive from the forbidden land.

“Yes, Father. That thing was incredibly strong. It was sheer luck we managed to win.”

Luck? Lin Weixuan’s expression turned incredulous. Winning against an Emperor Corpse through luck? His son had to be joking.

After some thought, he let out a dry laugh. “You’re just teasing me, aren’t you? Trying to lighten the mood?”

“Liuli, you explain to your father,” Lin Weixuan said, still somewhat skeptical.

“Father, there really was an Emperor Corpse

inside…” Lin Liuli replied earnestly.

“What?!” Lin Weixuan froze in disbelief. Lin Liuli wasn’t the type to lie or exaggerate. She had always been a truthful and well-behaved child.

Now, his gaze toward Lin Qi’an became far more complex.

The other powerhouses present, including semi-saints and saints, exchanged uneasy looks.

“His Highness, the Crown Prince, defeated an Emperor Corpse?”

“At just over twenty years old, he possesses such power. In fifty more years, who could possibly rival him?”

The atmosphere was lively, with laughter and chatter filling the air.

Suddenly, terrifying auras descended from the sky. Several figures approached, treading on clouds, their presence shaking the heavens.

The pressure they exuded instantly overwhelmed the semi-saints and saints present, leaving them gasping for air. Those with weaker cultivation levels knelt on the ground, unable to even lift their heads.

Only those standing near Lin Weixuan could feel slightly less oppressed.

“Kui Dragon Emperor, Gu Jingyun, Xiling Emperor, Golden Crow Patriarch, Soaring Snake Patriarch.”

Three Great Emperors and two quasi-emperors had arrived. The weight of their combined aura was suffocating.

“What brings you here, gentlemen?” Lin Weixuan stepped forward, his sleeves billowing as he stood tall, sword-like brows drawn in sharp focus. Facing five opponents alone, he showed no fear.

“Boy, let me ask you something. Why didn’t the others emerge from the forbidden land? Where are they?”

Lin Qi’an shrugged nonchalantly. “How would I know?”

“You don’t know?!” The Great Emperors glared at him, their gazes sharp as blades.

“You all entered together. How could you not know?” Kui Dragon Emperor pressed, his tone growing more forceful.

“We split up inside. If they didn’t come out, what does that have to do with me? Perhaps you’re asking the wrong person,” Lin Qi’an retorted without a shred of deference.

His defiance immediately darkened the expressions of the Great Emperors.

“Watch your tone, boy!”

“We’ll ask you again. Where are they? If you dare lie, don’t blame us for being merciless!”

Their patience was running thin. The individuals who had perished were peerless prodigies, painstakingly cultivated by these emperors. Their deaths were a devastating blow, and the thought of them being killed was unbearable.

“Do you all think you can interrogate my son like this as if I don’t exist?” Lin Weixuan stepped into the air, his deep gaze shimmering with the brilliance of stars.

The winds rose.

Countless currents of air condensed into sword intent, swirling around him. Though he couldn’t fully counteract the pressure of five powerhouses, he managed to shield most of it.

“Lin Weixuan, don’t shield him from this. Your son must know something. He couldn’t possibly know nothing!” Gu Jingyun roared in anger.

“Speak truthfully. Did you kill them?” Kui Dragon Emperor demanded, his voice cold and imposing.

Facing the combined interrogation of several Great Emperors, most would have crumbled under the pressure. Yet Lin Qi’an remained composed.

“For the last time, I don’t know.” As soon as the words left his mouth, the Thunder Annihilation Sword unsheathed itself.

The Emperor Weapon’s immense power erupted, pushing back the oppressive auras of the five Great Emperors.

Everyone in Beiyang Tianjian City, from low-level cultivators to semi-saints and saints, suddenly felt a wave of relief.

The Emperor Weapon hovered around Lin Qi’an.

Clad in white robes as pristine as snow, with thunder swirling around him, he resembled a young emperor descending from the heavens.
