Ultimate Choice System: I Became The Richest!

Chapter 272 - 272: Signing up two prodigies

Noah spent the night at his parents’ place.

After breakfast with the family, he ruffled Emily’s hair one last time before heading out.

The Lykan roared through morning traffic toward the Crown Veridian. Two contracts sat in his leather portfolio—one for Volkov, another for Lucas. They had different terms, but ones that both prodigies couldn’t resist.

The hotel lobby gleamed with morning light as Noah strode in. Lucas was already there, perched awkwardly on the edge of a plush chair, looking like he’d wandered into a palace by mistake.

“Hey,” Noah said, placing a hand on Lucas’s shoulder.

Lucas jumped, then stood quickly. “Hi, good morning.”

They settled into the seating area, Lucas’s eyes darting around the opulent surroundings.

“So what are we doing here?” Lucas asked, keeping his voice low as if afraid to disturb the luxury around them.

“You’ll see.” Noah fired off a quick text to Volkov.

Less than two minutes later, the elevator doors opened. Volkov stepped out, looking rested and sharp in a fresh suit. The fear from yesterday was gone.

Lucas’s jaw dropped. “Mr. Volkov? What’s going on?”

Noah gestured to the private meeting room off the lobby. “Let’s talk somewhere quieter.”

The room was tastefully appointed with a mahogany table and leather chairs. Noah took the head position, Volkov and Lucas across from each other.

“Lucas,” Noah began, “what I’m about to tell you requires absolute discretion.”

Lucas nodded, eyes wide.

“Project Aurora is facing challenges that go beyond technical issues,” Noah continued. “Mr. Volkov has agreed to work with me to ensure its completion.”

“Work with you?”

Noah slid the first contract across the table to Volkov. “As promised.”

Volkov scanned the document, eyebrows rising at certain clauses. Full research funding. Military protection. British citizenship fast-tracked for his entire family. And the salary—seven figures, plus stock options.

He signed without hesitation.

Lucas watched the exchange with growing confusion. “I don’t understand. What’s happening?”

Noah turned to him, eyes lighting up with genuine excitement. “You have an exceptional mind, Lucas. As one of your friends, I would like to offer you a lifetime opportunity.”

He leaned forward, voice dropping. “Join us.”

Lucas’s eyes darted between Noah and Volkov. “Join what exactly? Yesterday you were just another student, and now you’re making deals with Volkov!”

Noah laughed. “I’ve never been ‘just another student,’ Lucas. And neither have you. That’s why we connected so quickly.”

“What are you talking about?”

Noah slid the contract across the table. “I’m building something incredible. A team of brilliant minds solving the world’s most challenging problems.”

Lucas skimmed the document, his eyes widening at the numbers. “This can’t be real.”

“It’s very real,” Volkov chimed in. “I had the same reaction yesterday.”

Noah’s expression softened. “Look, I’ve seen what you can do. The way you think, how you solve problems—it’s special. But Cambridge isn’t giving you what you need to truly excel.”

Lucas swallowed hard. “And you can?”

“I can give you resources beyond anything the university offers. Work that actually matters.” Noah tapped the contract. “Plus, this salary would clear your family’s debt in a month.”

Lucas’s head snapped up. “How do you know about—”

“Friends look out for each other,” Noah said smoothly. “Your dad’s medical bills, your mom’s second mortgage—I want to help.”

For a moment, Lucas looked torn between gratitude and suspicion. “Why me?”

“Because talent like yours comes along once in a generation,” Noah replied, not a hint of exaggeration in his voice. “And because I think we could do amazing things together. As friends. As partners.”

Lucas stared at the contract, weighing his future.

“Can I think about it?”

Noah shook his head. “This opportunity exists now, in this room. Tomorrow… different circumstances apply.”

“That’s not much of a choice.”

“Life rarely gives us perfect choices, Lucas. Just moments of opportunity.” Noah leaned back. “Think of what you could build with us. Think of your family.”

Lucas’s fingers twitched toward the pen.

“My family really gets helped? This isn’t some trick?”

“I promise,” Noah said, holding his gaze. “Your family’s problems disappear today.”

Lucas picked up the pen and signed.

Noah’s smile was bright as he collected the contract. “You won’t regret this. We’re going to change the world together.”

Lucas exhaled, still looking stunned. “So what happens now?”

“You’ll join Mr. Volkov and his team to complete Project Aurora,” Noah said, eyes gleaming with possibility. “It’ll be challenging to enter so late, but I want you to gain knowledge through that experience for future projects that will revolutionize the world.”

He leaned forward, tapping the contract. “Your name will also be credited as a contributor to the research, giving you options later in life if you decide to move on after working with us.”

Though you won’t, Noah thought. Once you’re in my grasp, no one leaves.

“When do I start?” Lucas asked, energy starting to replace his shock after having signed the contract..

“Right now.” Noah stood. “Let me show you the lab.”

Twenty minutes later, Noah’s Lykan purred to a stop outside a building.

“This is it?” Lucas pressed his face against the window.

“Appearances deceive,” Noah replied, leading them through a biometric security gate.

Inside was another world entirely.

Volkov walked the space, nodding approvingly. “It’s good. Has almost everything we need.”

“I’ll deliver the remaining equipment today,” Noah said, checking his watch. “You don’t need to worry about that.”

Lucas wandered between workstations, mouth slightly open. “This is insane. Yesterday I was just a student and now…” He trailed off, running his fingers over a quantum processor array.

“Now you’re changing the world,” Noah finished for him. “Feel better?”

“Terrified,” Lucas admitted. “But in a good way.”

Noah’s phone buzzed. It was Adam.

“I need to handle something,” he told them.

As Noah headed for the door, Lucas called after him. “Noah!”

He turned.

“Thank you,” Lucas said simply. “For seeing something in me.”

Noah smiled. “That’s what friends are for.”

Outside, he answered Adam’s call.

“Military protection has been approved. Major Thompson, your contribution towards this country’s economy will not be ignored.”

“Just doing my job,” He smiled.
