They were in a decent-looking room. The windows showed a peaceful town surrounded by walls, and forest beyond that. Damian let the young couple have their moment and walked near the window to have a wider view.
Damian could sense many familiar mana signatures in the medium-sized town. Grace had become stronger. Einar and Evrin too were much stronger—Evrin was still in the second-ranker category though. Einar, on the other hand, had transcended. More than sixty years to become a transcendent was still quite less compared to the average. Elves had a slower growth rate and much larger mana pools. There were exceptions among elves too, like Vidalia.
Then there was the second prince of Dawnsar, Lione. Lucian was here with the baron, so was Elias, and his own biological mother. Souldealer was here too, the only other transcendent in his range of mana sense.
The town was not big, but it was filled with people. All the villages from near the lake city Fayenjin to the border of Dawnstar were also under the land the highswords had given them. They all belonged to the Sanctuary—and from the looks of it, people from all those villages had come here to trade and seek safety from the ongoing war.
“Damian?” Grace called him.
He turned back and greeted her with a smile. She had been here for 9-plus years and should now be around 24 or 25 years old. Sam in front of her looked like her younger sibling. She was not that tall though, and Sam was much more muscular than his clothes might suggest—still, the difference was not invisible.
That was nothing though, when Damian laid eyes on Einar again. She was in her mid-40s and looked like a woman straight out of those superhero comics he loved to read. With her long red hair and shredded physique, mommy was the only word that came into Damian’s head seeing her. Evrin, in comparison, was a young woman in her 20s—such was the life of Elves.
That wasn’t all. He was introduced to a 3-year-old boy with red hair, deep blue eyes, and a mischievous smile on his round, cute face.
“His name is Drona..” Einar said, as the kid stayed hidden behind her leg and peeked at them once in a while. “My son.”
“Our son,” Evrin said as she picked up the little kid and kissed his chubby cheeks while the boy tried his best to pull away from her.
Einar smiled seeing it, then looked back at him and Sam and nodded, “Our son.”
That was unexpected. Well, he had no idea about their story—living decades, they were now even older than his own combined age from two worlds. Who knew what they had been through?
Sariel and Amy had left to live their own life, he was told. They had fought for Sanctuary for many years—after they too had a baby, they chose a quieter life. No one had any idea where they went. Damian could find them, but it wasn’t necessary—that was exactly the kind of thing he wanted for himself and the people of this world. If he made a city that could give hopes to such young parents, they would come back on their own.
Souldealer came with Prince Leon to meet them—the prince had aged and become a middle-aged man. The usual drunken fool-like image Damian had of him had been completely rewritten. When he found Maelor and hugged him passionately, it made him smile. Maelor’s sister should be here too, but she did not come along with her older sibling.
Lucian came too, with her father—so did all the Dawnstar and other nobles that had joined the Sanctuary over the years. Damian was happy to see Lord Silas had not perished in the war against the Empire.
They were given quarters to live in. Both sides were eager to know more about each other—but it could wait till they had celebrated once again, reuniting with everyone. The whole town was prepared for a feast. The news of two transcendents arriving in Sanctuary spread through the town like wildfire—especially when they learned one of them was the famed ‘Morph Vialist’ who had created the Morphing potions, Liquid Mana-generating tools that the four Mana Wells used to dominate the battle against the demons and the infamous flying metal ship.
Damian retrieved Asher and other highswords still going through their overseer removal procedure from the lake tree he had left them at. There was a village there now—apparently, the weird colorful spheres of energy with mana had scared the poor villagers. Einar had come with him to get them back though and explained it was not a danger to them. This village too was under the Sanctuary-managed land.
The town celebrated, and the main stone keep in which they were also held a small event where everyone gathered. It went on for a couple of hours. The Land-breaker’s arrival was the talk of the event. The lords hoped he would join them—but that was just wishful thinking. Damian knew the guy would start his highswords again from scratch at any cost. He and Mindseer were not the last of the highswords—Runefather, Worldscribe, and all were still alive. They would hopefully soon come out of the energy spheres and probably join the highswords and revive the organization with the Land-breaker.
Once all the festivities were done with, Damian and his friends had another quieter get-together and at last asked each other what they were dying to know while drinking fine alcohol. The official gathering was arranged for tomorrow—today was just for friends. Especially just those who were in the dungeon together.
His assumptions were confirmed. There were indeed two Einar and Evrin once in this world. For years, Evrin stayed hidden and Einar hid her identity—but once the other Evrin was born, they went to the Elf Queen and revealed their identities. The Elf Queen, Evrin’s mother, kept it quiet for a while. Then, when Einar and Evrin decided to build the Sanctuary, they informed the highswords and in turn all ruling authorities of the five kingdoms. They made them sign a mana contract.
Despite knowing everything that was about to happen, they had enough sense not to mess with anything and let things happen, as they lived in the background till Damian and Sam showed up.
