‘V-Void Manipulation, his soul condensation is on par with mine!’, she screamed in her heart, there are many aspects one can specialize when it comes to the soul path, but basically every skilled soul cultivator knows how to use soul condensation, because that’s the advanced version of soul energy.

It’s basically gathering soul energy and compressing it to the limit, to then stack another layer of it, it might sound simple because at its origin it is, all soul cultivators acquire the ability to condense their soul energy down the road, however because of that same reason, soul cultivators don’t take that as their specialty.

Most, go either for sense enhancement or illusion arts, those with a wealthy backing mostly dedicate their soul path to Rune Mastering and the rarest of them all, being divinators who combine sense enhancement and Rune Mastering.

Soul Condensation is used mostly for combat, but those who cultivate in the soul path as their main, fight with formations or illusions, hence why condensation is disregarded, as a Fey princess Valentina doesn’t cultivate in the soul as her main, so she is free to do as she pleases with her soul energy and it just so happen that she is obsessed with condensation.

Hence why she has trained on it enough to create soul condensed lightning which even has a similar effect to that of real lightning, as in it shocks and stuns those that are struck by it.

“Ahem, if miss Valentina doesn’t start cutting those guys down, we might get swarmed by them”, Valentina who was lost in her thoughts, was brought back to the real world by Aster’s voice.

She then realized that she had been staring at the sword and at Aster for almost half a minute, based on how much the incoming leader ghosts had advanced towards them, which made her face blush on the spot, without saying anything she turned into a stream of purple lightnings that dived into the wave of leader ghosts, before a blinding purple light illuminated the sky, she blew away nearly a hundred ghosts in a single go as if she was venting her embarrassment on them.

‘How cute, let’s see how are the others doing’, thought Aster as he looked at the four directions, to then nod in approbation.

He already expected Aria and the others to have no trouble dealing with the ghosts, so seeing them overwhelming the ghosts with ease was no surprise, what did positively surprise Aster was the sight of the elders and the disciples holding their ground despite the non-stop waves of enemies.

“They are better than what I expected, especially those girls from the Green and Orange Lotus, they are mostly alchemy students so I didn’t think they would have put that much focus on learning how to use soul energy for combat”, mumbled Aster as he saw those usually harmless-looking girls beat the crap out of the ghosts.

“We are almost there, how are Kana and the other girls doing?”, wondered Aster, he looked downwards just to see the amusing scene of a bunch of girls ganging up on the ghosts that were restrained on the ground.

“Beat it harder, he is recovering too fast by absorbing soul energy!”, exclaimed a girl from the Black Sword faction.

“Mm, let’s show senior brother Aster our strength!”, added another girl from the White Sword faction.

One wouldn’t find their enthusiasm strange, had they been among the younger girls that just joined the top one hundred after a lot of spots were emptied due to the recent purge at the sect, but those two were veteran disciples.

It’s just that they were main body path cultivators, so they didn’t put too much focus on their secondary soul path cultivation.

That being said and while Aster couldn’t help but chuckle at their burning fighting spirit, the method they were using was probably the best for those that cultivated the body as their main path and took the soul as their secondary one.

“What fierce junior sisters I have”, said Aster as he saw them condense soul energy on their fists and legs to then punch and kick the ghosts, they were still following his indications since they only attacked with the parts of their bodies that were cladded in soul energy, but their method was a bit crude.

‘Look who’s talking’, mumbled Rya from within the mind space making Aster shrug.

Certainly, he is no one to scold them, his training method is even more barbaric, since he pushes his soul to the limit on a daily basis, using the strain and recovery process that one would normally use to train the body, the difference being that healing a physical wound is way easier and less risky than healing a spiritual wound.

Leaving those fierce girls who had found a way to efficiently improve their soul condensation mastery, aside, Kana who was alternating between the five groups was also benefitting from this experience, the rate at which her comprehension about soul energy was improving was around three or four times what normally would be even with her insane innate talent in the picture, the same applied to the other girls from the sect, of course it’s not like Aster can magically make it so others will improve at such an amazing speed, out of nowhere.

He does possess the capacity to pinpoint “flaws” which might lead to an opportunity for a positive change, but he is just a guide, whether the one who becomes aware of said flaw manages to improve or not, depends solely on themself.

So no, he wasn’t directly involved this time, what was making those girls progress by leaps and bounds were… the ghosts they were beating up.

‘I expected us to get some nice stuff after entering the gate, but this surely is an out of the norm way to give rewards, especially because we can only get one of the three possible rewards before reaching our destiny’, thought Aster.

Contrary to what Wade believed, the information Aster got when he opened the door wasn’t too detailed, basically it said that they will face three different trials, one for the soul one for body and one for the energy aspects before they reached the end of the road.

Besides that, there was information about how the day and night worked in this place, and at the end of it, there was a note saying that they would be able to obtain a special reward as a whole just once and for it to activate, the one with the highest level of authority would have the privilege to pick and whether it was approved will be decided based on the number of people that seconded the pick.

So earlier when Aster told the girls from the sect to only use soul energy and they accepted, that was the end of the process, Wade wouldn’t have won even if he knew, because there were less people on his side to begin with, but Aster didn’t see a reason for him to know about the whole thing.

After all, he wanted the girls from the sect to monopolize this opportunity, as to why he chose the soul path out of three, it wasn’t done on a whim or for any personal reasons, he didn’t even do it out of favoritism considering that there were many girls from his family who are soul cultivators.

He decided to take the one-time reward for the soul path, because it is the least developed out of the three in the four Heavenly Quadrants, meaning that opportunities to improve in it are harder to come by than the ones in the body and energy paths.

‘Those old bastards at high ranked Stellar Systems won’t care if twenty or so cultivators with energy and bodies equal to Law Integration or Gate Transcending realm cultivators, were to appear… but how about twenty cultivators whose soul energy rivals that of Soul Kings and what if there are another hundred with the potential to reach that point’, thought Aster as he smirked.

Soul Kings are scarce resources even for the upper grade first tier forces, besides the few forces and families who have some sort of talent related to the soul, like the Fey for example, having even a dozen Soul Kings is a blessing from the heavens.

And here Aster was laying the foundation to raise more than a hundred of them in the short-middle term, if anyone were to hear about it, they would believe he is crazy, there isn’t a single either force or family that has let alone a hundred but even half of that Soul Kings at their disposition.

The best part of it, is that Aster knew that Wade won’t get anything out of this, because there was no way they would limit themselves to only use soul condensation to fight the ghosts, to begin with the vast majority of people who had the soul as their secondary path in Wade’s group, were unable to fight exclusively with soul energy.

Because most of them simply used the soul path as a support, like the elders from the Blazeheart family for example, the same applied to the people from the Iron Hall, and the reason for that is very simple, they didn’t have a reason to refine their mastery in the soul path, until they reached the Void Manipulation realm in their main paths, because… they didn’t have any other focus besides combat.

But as its name imply, the Myriad Occupation sect was filled with girls that trained to become alchemists, blacksmiths or rune masters, professions that required a higher proficiency in secondary paths than those who focused in combat, though it meant having a lower realm in their main path in average.

‘I don’t believe those godmothers of mine simply created a place where spirit professionals gathered just for the sake of it, they must have chosen to focus in combining aspects of more than one path to attain a higher battle prowess, a slow start but higher potential than that of those that only judge things based on how high one’s realm is, they even disguised it behind the veil of alchemy, blacksmithing and rune mastering and the battle peak was created to protect them’, thought Aster to which Lillia giggled from within the mind space.

‘What do you think darling, aren’t they amazing~’, she said, making Aster bitterly smile to his insides.

‘People to fear would be a better way to describe them if you ask me, but I guess I should have expected as much from mom’s sisters’, said Aster, Lilia limited to chuckle, she couldn’t wait to reunite with those two, and she was even more interested to see their reaction when they met Aster.

‘Well, it seems like it’s time for the “late blooming” seed that mom and my godmothers prepared, to sprout, and speaking of that…’, thought Aster as he stole a gaze at a certain light brown-haired girl with blue-violet eyes that was sitting cross-legged midair at the center of the square defensive formation, only for to Eris slightly nod at him.

At the same time, something strange happened, the waves of ghosts that seemed to be endless stopped coming, which allowed Aria and the others as well as the elders and disciples from the sect to finish dealing with the remaining ghosts.

Valentina was the same, with a wave of purple lightning that was shot from her left hand she blasted away the last few ghosts that were coming at them, and then things seemed to have finally returned to normal.

“It’s not over…”, mumbled Vivian, out of all the presents she probably had the sharpest senses when it came to exclusively relying on the soul, though she couldn’t see nor discern what was coming like Aster with his dragon eyes was doing, she still felt that something was wrong.

“Mm, something dangerous is coming”, confirmed Felicia the next second, to then gaze at the one leading them.

“Time is up ladies”, said Aster as he released the restrains on the five ghosts that the girls from the sect were using as training dummies, allowing the poor ghosts to escape into the darkness.

“Everyone besides Agnes and miss Valentina, regroup, Eris, the barrier please”, added Aster in a voice that all the girls from the sect could hear, his tone was loud but calm despite the sudden change in the situation which brought confusion and a slight sensation of danger that all the present people could somewhat feel.

Eris who had been preparing for this moment since the beginning of the fight, stood up and then snapped her fingers, runes that were engraved on the ground suddenly lit up to then raise a semi-spherical green translucent barrier around all the members of Aster’s group, except Aster, Agnes who was now floating next to Aster and Valentina who was returning from her previous position high into the sky, to arrive next to Agnes.

‘You and I need to have nice “conversation” you little girl’, said Valentina to her younger cousin with a smile that wasn’t a smile on her pretty face as she offered the black sword soul weapon back to Aster, who smiled at the obviously reluctant purple lightning princess.

“You can play with it a bit longer, after all you are going to need it for what will come next”, said Aster, making Valentina smile, all this under Agnes’s pretty blue eyes which shone in a strange light for a second as she mumbled.

“How come I didn’t get the chance to use that sword…”, she mumbled.

Aster didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the jealousy in Agnes’s voice, especially because she didn’t seem to realize that was the case.

“Ahem, that’s because the black sword soul weapon is not apt for your fighting style, it’s focus is pure destruction not speed and instant explosiveness after all”, said Aster which made Agnes’s mood brighten.

What Aster said meant that he had paid incredible attention to her swordsmanship, which was indeed the case, he is making a sword for her after all.

“Let’s leave the conversation for later, I trust miss Valentina’s lightning and my black sword can take care of the left side by themselves, while Agnes and I, defend the right side”, said Aster as he looked upwards.

Only now, did Agnes, Valentina, Vivian and Felicia, in other words, those whose soul senses were the sharpest among the group, saw why Aster had changed the strategy so abruptly.

“W-What the hell is that!”, exclaimed a male elder from the Pleasure Palace, he as a yang cultivator felt his body getting cold all of a sudden, a thin layer of frost covered his legs and arms as he pointed at the sky where two massive withered hands which had chains around their wrists, emerged from the darkness, one set of hands for each group to be more accurate.

The shadow produced by the giant hands, basically covered all the available road, and everything which was touched by the shadow started producing frost, despite the lamps on the sides of the road radiating light and heat.

And this is where the barrier created by Eris shone, both literally and figuratively, since Eris’s green soul energy blocked the cold by lighting itself, thus protecting the girls of the sect from it.

“That’s yin freezing, that thing is freezing the vicinity just by approaching”, said Aria, there is no one more qualified to speak about yin energy among the present people.

“Mm, it’s yin is poisonous too”, added Vivian, whose body constitution showed signs of wanting to produce a yang type poison to protect her, but was “convinced” to not do so by Vivian who stimulated Aster’s aura within the node in her body.

“What a disgusting ice”, concluded the ligress girl, she hates the Yin Azure Palace who use this kind of techniques as well, it’s worth mentioning that Aria’s ice in her Ice Fairy state also uses yin energy, however her yin it’s not poisonous but pristine, so unless Aria wants it to, it won’t be detrimental to others.

Their little conversation was interrupted by the shadow that loomed above everyone, growing darker as the hands descended from the sky towards both groups.

“Everyone attack!”, Wade didn’t wait a single second, he exploded in blue spirit energy to then combine his soul energy into a giant tsunami which he threw towards the incoming pair of hands.

Which made Aster who remained still on the sky, smirk.

‘Idiot’, he thought, the giant tsunami created by Wade, clashed against the giant pair of hands.

“Blegh!!!”, the result was that Wade… vomited blood on the spot to then fall from the sky, which halted the others that were about to launch their own attacks.

Only then Aster nodded at Valentina and Agnes to then say.

‘Remember that we are defending, not attacking, our job is simply to stop the descend of those hands, after all even with those chains that thing’s soul energy’s appearance is still above the Soul King realm’.

Contrary to what one would expect, instead of being afraid, Agnes and Valentina showed interest in the words “above the Soul King realm”, since that is a threshold that no one has managed to bypass in the four Heavenly Quadrants, yet.

“Mm!”, those two nodded back in unison, Valentina who was still wielding the black sword soul weapon, turned into a purple lightning stream that stopped in front of the giant hand descending from the left.

The giant withered hand descended upon Valentina who parried it head on with the black sword soul weapon which was cladded in soul condensed purple lightning, her soul avatar which was a perfect copy of herself, but wore a pretty amethyst purple armor that covered basically all her body, manifested behind of her, to then point her hands frontwards as if to help Valentina stop the descend of the giant hand.

“Boooom!”, the result was a loud shockwave and a clash of soul energies, that engulfed the vicinity.

Unlike what happened with Wade, Valentina stood her ground without showing any sign of being hurt in the process, very much to the displease of Wade who was just recovering from the previous impact.

So now imagine his expression when Agnes and Aster appeared in front of the giant right hand, Agnes’s placed her hand on the hilt of her sword and similar to Valentina, her soul avatar which was dazzling in a blinding yellow-orange light, preventing anyone from seeing its real appearance, since she only felt comfortable showing it’s “scarce” clothing and armor to very few people, Aster being the newest addition to that list, manifested behind of her.

And she wasn’t the only one dazzling on the right side of the sky, Aster did have a soul avatar, and a soul constitution like the Fey princesses, courtesy of Sarina’s star, however unlike them, he was unable to manifest it yet, it hasn’t been that long since he obtained his soul constitution after all.

It was already outrageous that he had a soul avatar without a soul constitution while below the Transcending realm.

So, while there was no manifestation behind of him, Aster still turned into a golden dazzling sun, he pointed his hands frontwards and a golden wall condensed in front of him, just in time for Agnes to unsheathe her sword and slash it at the right hand.

“Boooom!”, a second explosion echoed through the sky, as the hand first landed on the golden wall which Aster had condensed with his soul energy, half-stopping its advance in the process, to then completely stop when Agnes’s sword which was cladded in luminous soul energy joined the fray.

Wade saw those three succeeding where he failed and gritted his teeth, he couldn’t even act against them out of fear of being punished for breaking the rules, so he instead vented his anger on his side.

“What the hell are you waiting for, this time attack alongside me!”, he shouted, to then once again create that tsunami which combined both spirit and soul energies.

However, before the wave of attacks launched by Wade’s side reached their target, the giant hands that aimed at them, retreated into the darkness, apparently it was a short exchange and they had only one opportunity which they wasted earlier.

But then, on Aster’s side the hands weren’t retreating, or more accurately they couldn’t, because Valentina, Aster and Agnes were still clashing with them.

“Now!”, with a single word from Aster, Eris smiled, she placed her hands together and soul energy emerged from her body to then shot high into the sky, taking the form of a giant tree with countless branches but not a single leaf on them.

Once that giant tree had been manifested, the feeling that the hands transmitted took a 180° turn, now the hands wanted to retreat, but not because the trial was over like it happened for Wade’s side, but because the owner of the hands was… afraid.

“Woah, what a pretty soul condensation”, exclaimed one of the girls from the sect as she touched the bark of the giant green translucent tree, only for her to feel the tree “asking” for her to pour in her soul condensed energy, which she did the next second, resulting in a row of brown leaves appearing on a branch of the three.

“Now, didn’t my cute juniors wanted to participate in the fight, now is your chance, place your hands on the tree at my mark”, said Aster, making a bunch of girl’s eyes burn in a fierce light.
