Chapter 3223: The Aerrirgieff Tribe
While Rui grew engrossed in his study of the flora of the Genora Continent, Amare wandered deeper into the forest, curious about everything that the place had to offer. She could sense that the vegetation around her was greatly different from the Panama Continent in many ways, intuitively.
CRUNCH
She bit into a juicy fruit as her eyes lit up at how sweet the fruit was.
“Yummy.” She munched on the fruit as she went deeper and deeper into the darkness of the forest at night.
What drew her attention was how rich and diverse the fauna was.
She ran into all manner of critters and birds, none of which she recognized in all her memories in the Panama Continent. Squirrels with multiple tails and birds with multiple wings made their homes in the trees of the forest.
Yet, despite their appearance, she could sense that they truly weren’t exotic.
Just like the flora on this continent, all those lifeforms were entirely devoid of esoteric substances, devoid of power.
STEP
Her eyes lit up as she arrived at a slightly different enclosure, sensing human-like presences.
Elves.
Within a large tree that stood domineeringly tall, almost a hundred meters in the air, she sensed a tribe of elves.
“Wow…” she directed a gaze of wonder as she beheld the enormous tree that stood tall and wide.
What especially drew her attention was the fact that it was largely hollow.
Not by force, where its wood had been carved out.
But innately.
It was similar to the little tree homes that the dark elves had set up on the Panama Continent, but much larger.
It was also shaped like an ordinary tree on the outside.
STEP
She arrived at the tree, placing a hand on its bark.
“To think the human being would stumble upon our home.”
Amare turned around as she spotted an elderly elven woman, hunched down as she used a wooden staff as a crutch, with dark skin.
Behind her were two women who stood stiff with attention as they regarded Amare with suspicion. All of them wore clothes garbed from fallen leaves, woven into a fabric that covered their entire body, as well as their chest, leaving their midriff exposed.
“Ah…” Amare turned back to the giant tree before turning to the dark elves with an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have tried to come that close to your home.”
“Mmm, what is your name, my child?”
“Amare,” she smiled. “Though you can also call me Esil.”
“You have two names?” the elderly dark elf raised an eyebrow.
“Yes, well, it is a long story.”
The elderly dark elf smiled. “No matter. Why don’t you come inside?”
Amare’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
“Of course,” she remarked. “You are a guest of Genora, after all. Any guest of Genora is a guest of all elves on this continent.”
Amare’s smile grew delightful. “Thank you!”
WHOOSH
Rui slowly descended from the sky some distance away, drawing alarmed attention from the two dark elves, heaving a troubled sigh. “Don’t just run off, Amare.”
She folded her arms. “I said we would explore the forest, not that we would stare at the ground completely engrossed in your own world.”
Rui couldn’t argue with that.
By the time he came out of his reverie of revelation, Amare was nowhere to be seen, especially when the forest was filled with anti-surveillance botanical biotechnology.
“You must be the representative of the Lost Continent.”
The elderly woman regarded Rui with an expression of intrigue. “Truly fascinating. In all my life, I have never seen a man as ill and sick as you are. Yet you reek of potent death. As though you are a walking, living corpse.”
The dark elf women behind her couldn’t help but regard him with a hint of disgust and apprehension.
“We’re sorry to bother you,” Rui replied with an amicable tone. “We didn’t intend to trespass on private property.”
She shook her head.
“There is no such thing in Genora. We all live in harmony with each other on this continent. This continent does not belong to us, instead, we belong to it,” the elderly dark elf replied. “We are free to go wherever you like.”
“Well, I suppose I don’t fall within those rules, nonetheless,” Rui replied thoughtfully.
“That is true,” she admitted. “Still, you are our guest, just as she is. Why don’t you join us for a meal?”
Rui’s eyes lit up.
“We would be honored if you would have us.”
The dark elf elder smiled. “That is wonderful to hear. Come along then.”
She arrived at the trunk of the giant tree.
She tapped her wooden staff to the ground, causing the wood to shift and separate, forming an opening that unveiled the inside of the tree.
Within the tree was a myriad of dark elves that lived in a large spirally-elevating set of homes that were in cavities inside the wood of the trees. All manner of dark elves resided within the spiraling elevating homes along the inner sides of the hollow tree.
The tree wall was constantly shifting as dark elves continued bending it to their will, manipulating the flora biomatter to suit their needs. Whether it was to form staircases to walk up and down, or to form tools, or all manner of miscellaneous items.
Yet, the moment Rui and Amare entered the tree, they all froze as they directed a stunned gaze at them.
“Welcome to the Aerrirgieff Tribe of West Genora,” the dark elf elder turned towards them, welcoming them with a kind smile. “We hope you enjoy our hospitality.”
“Thank you!” Amare beamed as she took a step closer, directing a curious gaze across the dark elves, who were more content studying her than they were studying him. Compared to a sick, disease-ridden man who reeked of death, Amare was almost the complete opposite in many ways.
The dark elves took to her immediately as they drew closer to her, studying her out of curiosity and intrigue as they steered clear of him.
