Chapter 3159: Becoming Evolutionary
Rui stirred where he sat as he considered the proposition.
To become a diplomat and ambassador yet again.
It was a position he had adopted many a time in his life, starting all the way back when he was first put through a crash course for it for his mission with the G’ak’arkan Tribe. Since then, he had performed the role many times, with the most recent being his little alliance with Jormungandr as an ambassador for the entire continent.
And prior to that, he had spent about four years traveling across the entire continent, meeting with most Sage-level powerhouses and ironing out the Solution of Harmony with them. At this point, he was an accomplished and experienced ambassador in the field.
That didn’t mean that he was pleased to undertake this role again.
“I am busy,” Rui replied. “I have the train and get stronger. I have to expand my horizons. I have to expand my power. I need to start making more concerted efforts towards Project Water. I don’t have time to play diplomat.”
His father frowned.
“The future of the Panama Continent and of human civilization is at stake, not to mention the Kandrian Empire.”
Rui stirred at those words. “I am not unsympathetic to the plight of the Panama Continent, I just have even more important priorities. Especially so since…”
He gazed at his hands with a hint of displeasure.
“My fourteen-month coma has made me a little rusty. I could feel it the very moment I woke up. It appears that my Gigabrain timeout takes its toll on neuron plasticity and reduces muscle memory and mastery, and was probably just not very noticeable up until now, due to shorter timeframes. But fourteen months have made a noticeable dent, and I will have to work hard to get it back.” Rui’s tone was profoundly displeased. “Which means I need to fight and fight a lot. Maybe even some time in the manifold, although…”
His gaze shifted towards the Great Nam Ocean and beyond.
“I can do that anywhere, including the true world.”
Emperor Rael furrowed his eyebrows. “You intend to go to the true world anyway?”
An excited smile of anticipation emerged on his face. “Of course, how could I possibly not?” not to mention…”
His pitch-black eyes grew hazy.
“I had a vision recently. A vision of my Martial Path extending through the true world,” Rui replied to him. “I think… in order to reach a higher echelon of Adaptive Evolution, I will need to gain what I can from the true world. The six paths of power and the resulting hybrid paths formed by the intermingling of the six paths will allow me to elevate my own adaptive evolution.”
Emperor Rael frowned with a hint of confusion. “I was under the impression that paths are exclusive, are they not? Is it really possible for different species to learn each other’s paths?”
“Ordinarily, no,” Rui shook his head. “But I’m different. I am confident that I can take the parts of their paths that have an affinity for Adaptive Evolution.”
Emperor Rael leaned forward with a raised eyebrow. “I would imagine the first on top of that list is the Evolutionary Path of Adaptive Evolution, no? Don’t you have the most to take from them?”
“Yes, but unfortunately, the Evolutionary Army will not cooperate with me,” Rui smirked. “So, I will have to find other evolutionaries in the true world and speak with them. I think… I can probably transfer some of their cells to my own body and integrate them into my flesh and organs.”
Emperor Rael’s eyes widened with shock. “Surely that’s not possible. That would effectively make you a human evolutionary hybrid!”
Rui nodded as his expression grew sour. “Tsk, it’s a shame that the soul transference ritual is not real. I might have considered transferring myself to the body of a human-evolutionary hybrid if not for that. Sigh.”
“What do you mean that it’s not real?” Emperor Rael keenly asked.
Rui shook his head. “I said too much. More importantly, if I’m to integrate adaptive evolutionary cells into my body to gain a hint of their power, I will need the Divine Doctor. As a Martial Sage, I have great power and control over my own biology and even biochemistry. I am immortal, after all. But I do not have the foundations in biochemistry and evolutionary physiology to understand how the two biological systems will interact and what must be done to integrate evolutionary flesh into my body without it dying. Integrating the flesh and cells with different DNA from two different species isn’t something that I can wing. I will need his expertise.”
Rui hadn’t gotten the idea out of nowhere.
He had gotten it in his battle with Anthea.
Although he just barely managed to emerge victorious with a strategic and tactical deployment of the Gu at precisely the right moment, the truth of the matter was that he respected Anthea’s Adaptive Evolution.
It was more than respect.
It was greed.
“I want this power.”
Rui’s tone was sincere.
Although he had rejected joining the Evolutionary Army, that didn’t mean he rejected evolutionary power. The fact of the matter was that as painful as Anthea’s words had been about his body being inferior for adaptive evolution, they were true.
Even evolutionary babies were likely able to achieve a degree of spontaneous genetic adaptive evolution that surpassed his.
It was too powerful for him to ignore.
“Not to mention…” his eyes lit up with excitement. “I can combine evolutionary cells with my primordial core in ways that beggar fathoming. It will be a realm of adaptive evolution unlike anything the world has ever seen!”
Emperor Rael stared at Rui with a resigned smile.
When it came to his Martial Path, Rui oftentimes revealed an almost childlike excitement.
“I’m afraid I’m going to have to disappoint you,” Emperor Rael remarked with a knowing expression. “The Divine Doctor has departed from the Kandrian Empire and the Panama Continent. He has departed for the true world.”
