The Martial Unity

Chapter 3053: The Great Singularity

Chapter 3053: The Great Singularity

She had a point.

Martial Artists were destructive.

There were many instances in human history where they had unleashed power upon the world that exceeded what almost all natural calamities could unleash.

Sage Sia had caused the sea levels of an inland ocean in the Umiana Trench in the Zeltic Ocean near the Sekigahara Confederate to rise greatly with her Sage-level training, causing hundreds of millions of people to be wiped out in the blink of an eye.

“It was a disaster that far exceeded natural disasters, including tsunamis, and it still didn’t violate the Law of Continuity of History,” she explained. “To this day, there is a myriad of evidence detailing the nature of the civilization that was wiped out, from remains of the foundations of infrastructure, to skeletal fossils, and even preserved records and documents, tools, and all manner of things that have been retrieved from the swallowed up sites. That’s not all…”

She waved her hand.

“One of the most destructive events, the Gu and its destruction and the subsequent void that has formed in much of North-West Panama, still didn’t violate the Law of Continuity of History,” she explained. “In some of my most recent publications, I have all the discoveries that I have made about the Gu and the nightmarish life in the region. I have detailed all the evidence that still exists. And this phenomenon was one that couldn’t even occur naturally. And yet, it didn’t destroy all evidence of the past. If that isn’t proof enough, then take the most destructive event known to mankind.”

Her eyes sharpened.

“The epoch of the Beast Incursion.”

She displayed a modern map of the Panama Continent, covered in the esoterified extension of human civilization.

The map was labeled with a myriad of images around it that showed the sustained existence of countless clues and pieces of evidence of what life was like across human civilization before the Beast Incursion.

“From scant ruins of paths, all kinds of infrastructure, fossils of humans, records, tools, and so on and so forth,” she explained. “In other words, if we all lost all our records and memories spontaneously, we will still be able to deduce what life was like before the Beast Incursion just by all the evidence that is still exists. Not even the Beast Incursion, with all its unfathomable destruction and drastic change upon the continent, was able to destroy every ounce of evidence of what used to be.”

Her gaze shifted back to the immortal sages.

“And yet, something wiped out all evidence of what was, leaving a drastic absence of any evidence outside of the shockingly well-preserved Lost Cities in the Beast Domain.”

With all that context in mind, the sheer anomaly of whatever happened thirteen hundred years ago was truly mind-boggling.

How could something destroy every ounce of evidence of the past beyond thirteen hundred years ago, such that not even a tiny scrap of evidence, outside of the stunningly well-preserved Lost Cities, remained?

It was a mystery that has boggled the minds of historians, archaeologists, and anthropologists and other tangential fields in the humanities.

No one had the answer.

“My theory is that the coinciding of the first noted appearances of esoteric substances on this continent and the destruction of all evidence of what was prior is connected,” she remarked. “I believe that an event far more significant than even an extinction event occurred.”

The immortal sages grew curious at her intriguing words, leaning in closer for more.

“This theory is updated with the most recent revelations that the Emperor of Harmony got from the Boundless Light of the Gen Temple in her recounting of the massive, perfect Lost City in the center of the Beast Domain,” the Scrier continued. “A Lost City that has already been annihilated, to my greatest heartache. More importantly, it has fleshed out my theory. I believe that once upon a time, this world was united. The Panama Continent was just another continent with the rest of the true world in a planet without any esoteric substances. And then occurred what I like to call…”

Her eyes sharpened.

“The Great Singularity.”

The name hung in the air like an incantation.

The air grew heavy with tension.

The atmosphere tingled electrically.

“I believe that this Great Singularity epoch is responsible for three things,” she continued with an ominous tone. “Firstly…”

She raised a finger.

“It introduced esoteric matter upon this continent. Secondly…”

She raised a second finger.

“It tampered with this continent on a very fundamental level, erasing the continuity of history and dismantling the connection between the present at the time thirteen hundred years ago and the past. And thirdly…”

She raised a third finger.

“It trapped this entire continent and surrounding waters in a space-time manifold.”

Her intense eyes directed a sweeping gaze across the entire gathering.

The air was heavy.

“The Great Singularity…” The Beggar Sage’s tone was curious as he gobbled up the precious insights of the Scrier. “That does indeed sound like something I want to learn more about.”

“Your hypothesis is a tad contrived from what you tentatively gather and yet…” The Divine Doctor’s eyes twinkled with clinical interest. “I must confess, it does seem quite attractive to me and my goals.”

The Scrier scrunched her eyebrows. “With all due respect, sir, your conjecture about Gaia is just that, conjecture. What I have provided is a scientific theory that is conducted with the greatest degree of historiography, archaeology, and anthropology, as well as geology and environmental physics. It is an iron-clad scientific theory.”

“I am not equivocating.” The Divine Doctor’s smile was as frozen as ever as his chilling gaze shifted towards her. “I’m merely expressing my interest in your work and its relation to mine. I am aware of the skepticism that my goal has inspired in almost all of you. But…”

He closed his eyes.

“I am unbothered by it.”

And thus, the eldest immortal sage simply let the tense atmosphere hang.

“This so-called Great Singularity,” he spoke with an eerily calm tone. “I sense promise within it.”

His eyes opened.

Within them lingered a profound willpower.

“I will examine whether it is connected to my ambition myself.”
