The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1575 - 1575: Foolish Man

Anger can be a sharp two-edged blade.

It could hurt other people and also hurt oneself.

But Rex is a Werewolf on top of being a Human; he’s the Royal Black Prince.

For him, anger is a one-edged blade, and it would only stab what he aimed it at.

And at this moment, he pointed ahead.

More bones broke inside his body with each step, but they also healed as quickly, allowing Rex to trace the distance bit by bit—with relentless fervor. His eyes were now burned with the fire of determination, and pain no longer influenced him the way it should.

It strengthened him.

Every blast of energy from the emerald star was turned into more power.

Crack!

As he made it to the sixth step, his shin bone broke and pierced his flesh, causing him to stumble.

But before he could fall, it snapped back to place.

Possessing a powerful regeneration is something many dreamed of—healing as quickly as the wound was inflicted was an incredible power. However, most forgot that regeneration doesn’t take care of the pain—it only heals the wound.

Only a few could utilize powerful regeneration because of that.

Rex was undoubtedly one of them.

In the Mortal Realm, many feared crossing a Werewolf.

Be it low-ranking Supernatural races or the high-ranking ones, most of them weren’t fond of fighting against Werewolves, especially those without a powerful single-target spell, one that could kill the target in one hit.

It was common knowledge; you only crossed a Werewolf if you were absolutely certain you could kill it.

As long as it’s not 100%, then don’t engage.

And the reason was precisely because of what Rex was showing right now.

Possessing powerful regeneration that grew stronger with anger.

Not to mention, the night made it stronger, and Werewolves were extremely used to fighting.

Being a Werewolf himself, Rex never really felt the same fear as other races feel towards Werewolves.

However, the people around tasted that fear.

Even though Rex was weak right now, merely at the Master Immortal Spirit rank, all of the onlookers unanimously accepted that if he were at the same rank as them, he would be a formidable foe, all thanks to his regeneration.

Swoosh!

Another increase in the pressure happened when Rex made his seventh step.

Rosa, who was watching from the sidelines, clenched her fists hard as a flicker of hope began to appear in her eyes. It was hopeless before, but now, it wasn’t bleak anymore. ‘He can do it… Three more steps, and he can reach the princess! He still has a chance!’

Glancing at the man with long white hair, Rosa was even more certain.

That man was now at the eighth step, but he was not moving.

He can’t make the ninth step.

Just like Rex, the bones inside his body were cracking, and pushing through wouldn’t be possible.

“Hmm… He’s good.”

Duke Lorcan rubbed his chin with a smile, pleasantly surprised by this display of grit.

It reminded him of old times when his blood was still burning with youth.

Beside him, Princess Liliana blinked and snapped out of her trance, realizing that Rex now has a higher chance to succeed than the man with long white hair due to his regeneration. Changing her target, she pulled her life energy and aimed it at Rex.

Rex could feel a sudden surge of energy, one that empowered him past his limit.

<Notice: A foreign life energy is enhancing the user’s stats greatly!>

A notification appeared.

It notified Rex of the boost of power cheated through Princess Liliana.

He didn’t see it.

No, rather, he couldn’t see it.

From his perspective, the entire world around him was unravelling.

Rex’s vision blurred, colors bleeding into one another, into meaningless smears—the roaring emerald light from the star erased everything but a narrow tunnel of clarity. A single, distant shape standing at the end of that tunnel.

Princess Davina.

He was blind to anything but her.

It was the last thing that anchored him to reality, keeping his mind awake.

Even his hearing was impaired, delusional.

All he could hear was voices that he knew weren’t real—voices of those dear to him.

One voicing out her fear of losing him.

Another reminding him of the catastrophe that lies ahead, the one that the Angels would bring.

Howling requiem of wolves.

And the last voice whispered to his ears loudly.

‘Please keep us safe.’

Upon hearing this, Rex shook his head and continued onward, stepping to the eighth step.

Princess Liliana’s face twisted into one of shock when her life energy, which should be pumping power to Rex, was severed. It wasn’t that she failed, but she was rejected, ‘Is he insane…? His Soul Artifacts and body are strong, but his limit is near. Why did he refuse my power? A man’s ego?’

Recalling what Rex said earlier, it was clear that he was keeping his word.

It was life-and-death for him, and he was showing it right now.

Right now, as he was making the ninth step, his entire body was already in shambles.

Blood streamed from his nose, from his lips, and even from the corners of his eyes.

It dripped steadily, leaving a trail behind him like breadcrumbs of defiance and sheer willpower.

His breaths were shallow, wet—each exhale a silent battle cry.

For the first time throughout the entire length of the test, Crown Prince Lukas raised his head as he felt a figure approaching. The heavy breaths and the scent of blood stung his nose—and when he turned, he saw Rex dragging himself forward.

Reaching the ninth step, the final place before reaching Princess Davina, Rex was crushed.

He was slammed into the ground, flat against the carpet.

Considering his rank, this step should be impossible to withstand.

Even Princess Davina was edging on lowering the intensity of the emerald star, giving a bit of leeway for Rex to reach her, but she couldn’t. Both Crown Prince Lukas and Duke Lorcan were staring intensely at Rex, and any change in the intensity would be detected.

Doing so would make the test biased, and that would give birth to a myriad of problems.

“Krrgh…”

A grunt echoed as Rex moved, tremblingly reaching forward.

His skin was peeling off, his muscles were torn, and his bones were cracked as he neared the princess.

But he still reached out a hand, dug his fingers against the ground, and dragged his body forward with a relentless pull. One ruined arm after the other, he kept crawling forward, leaving behind trails of blood as he chased the flicker of light, chasing her, chasing salvation.

Or death.

Whichever came first.

No more time for him to take the safe route.

“I suggest you to stop,” Crown Prince Lukas’s eyes narrowed. “I’ll be owing you if you do.”

“Do not interfere with the test,” Princess Davina cut in sharply. “Show some respect, Your Highness.”

Hearing this, Crown Prince Lukas glanced at Duke Lorcan and gritted his teeth.

He couldn’t do anything or else he’d be offending the duke.

Regardless, even if Princess Davina didn’t stop him from saying more, Rex wouldn’t have heeded him anyway. Not because the crown prince bore no weight, but he simply couldn’t hear anything. He was deaf at the moment, no, he was partially deaf.

Though the grand hall was mute, he could still hear his pounding heart.

Something

As for his vision, it was already completely blind, and is flooded with notifications.

<Warning: the user’s spirit body is on the brink of dying!>

<It’s advised to turn into the user’s Werewolf form to increase the survivability rate!>

<Death of the spirit body will result in failure to the Race Evolution Quest, Penalty Quest, and Sudden Quest!>

<Warning!>

<Warn->

Even though his senses were impaired, Rex could feel that he had arrived.

Reaching the princess was already good enough, but he went far beyond.

He pushed himself upright, fighting back the urge to lie down, and took one knee, assuming the exact posture of Crown Prince Lukas. Fresh blood dripped from his fingers as he stretched his hand forward, palm up, and finally reached the princess.

Only he and Crown Prince Lukas managed to reach the end.

As for the man with long white hair, he surrendered at the eighth step, unable to go further.

Seeing this, Crown Prince Lukas clenched his jaw.

Initially, he thought that making an appearance would cause the other contenders to shudder, as most of them don’t have the same level of status as the strongest heirs or himself. He never thought that someone stubborn like Rex would be here.

Risking his very life for the princess.

‘He’s a foolish man, but God damn it… He’s won their hearts.’

Princess Davina looked at Rex’s trembling hand, surreal at the sight.

Knowing exactly how taxing and powerful the emerald star could be, though adjusted to his rank, the simple fact that Rex could be kneeling in front of her was surreal. Of course, without his regeneration, it would be impossible.

But even with regeneration, it wasn’t easy.

Even Princess Davina second-guessed whether she could do what Rex did.

Looking down at her feet, she sighed as a faint smile tugged on the corner of her lips.

She stepped forward and stopped before Rex.

For a second there, she hesitated, but eventually, she reached out her hand and placed it on Rex’s.

She placed her soft hand against his, sealing the grip with gentle strength.

“I accept your proposal, Lord Rex. It will be an honor.”

Almost instantly after those words left her mouth, a manly laughter boomed across the grand hall as Duke Lorcan approached gleefully. He spread his arms to the side with a beaming smile, stretching both corners of his lips, elated that his second daughter had finally chosen a man.

Seeing this, Princess Davina pulled her hand away.

Of course, she didn’t forget to deactivate the emerald star.

She would only be in the way if she stayed there.

Duke Lorcan stopped beside Rex and tapped his back encouragingly.

“Congratulations! You’ve shown us your determination, and I gave you my blessing.”

Just then, he turned to Crown Prince Lukas.

He approached the crown prince and helped him get up.

“It’s a shame that my daughter didn’t choose you, Your Highness, but I hope you can accept her choice.”

Naturally, this was hard to swallow for the crown prince.

He came here for Princess Davina’s hand, the strongest woman from the new generation, and also the most beautiful. But he was beaten by a nobody from the House of Aurelius. However, feeling the duke’s grip on his shoulder tighten, he forced out a nod.

“Y-Yes. It’s a shame, but I can’t force the princess on whom she chose.”

“Good, good. Now, let me see you out. After all, we have a marriage to prepare.”

As Duke Lorcan was about to escort Crown Prince Lukas—and the other man out, his eyes stopped at Rex, who was still in the same position. He didn’t say more or even say anything. A frown crept to his face.

Noticing his concern, the others also fixated on him.

Rosa quickly approached him.

She tried to help him lie down, but Rex’s body was so stiff that it was hard to move him.

A sigh escaped her lips.

“He passed out,” She declared, turning to look at the others. “I think he passed out at the ninth step.”

“What…?”

Everyone was stunned.

Most of them were marveling at Rex’s determination to reach Princess Davina, or focused on another thing entirely, but Rosa was focused on Rex’s eyes. The light behind his eyes flickered at the fourth step, and it dimmed at the eighth step, fully dying at the ninth.

Even though she wasn’t that close with Rex, she was the one who brought him here.

So, in a way, she felt responsible for him.

It was the reason why she was worried about him.

Princess Liliana approached and checked to make sure, and she found that it was true.

Rex was already out of it.

Seeing this, Princess Davina sighed.

‘It’s really life and death for him. How can a man be this foolish?’
