The dragon's harem

Chapter 1256 - 1256: Challenger of Fate

Selica opened the ornate wooden door with a gentle swing, “Lady Sena is waiting for you inside.”

Arad looked inside the room and saw Sena sitting on a large chair, waiting for them while sipping her wine. She seems to have already finished a bottle while he was outside.

“Selica already told me everything I might need about Mira’s case. So is this about Tina or Doma?” He walked inside, pulled the largest chair, and took a seat. Sara did the same while Selica stood beside Sena’s chair.

“It’s about Doma.” Sena looked around the room with a smile, and her gaze stopped at the blond woman standing behind the bar counter. “Bring them something nice to drink, and stand in front of me afterward.”

The woman looked at them and paled as her eyes met Sara’s gaze.

“It’s been a while,” Sara said with a smile, and the woman took a step away.

Arad recognized the woman as well. He saw her in hell’s capital in a small cage. At the time, she had all of her limbs sawn off. Sara had seen her before him. The woman was the sinner that Sara asked about her sins in hell to show Gamond and the others what happens in hell.

“What are you wasting time on?” Sena growled at her. “To let you know, she was the one to recommend your soul for this. If not for her, you would still be rotting in the depths of hell.”

The woman gasped and quickly mixed several cocktails based on the knowledge that Sena had left in her head. She then rushed toward them, served everyone their drinks, and stood in front of Sena.

It was then that Sena stood and then walked around the woman. She looked at her for a few moments. “So? What do you think, Arad?”

Arad gave the woman a long, sharp gaze and shook his head. “You’ve indeed created a makeshift body and even managed to tie a soul to it. Both are far beyond anything I can achieve.”

Sena shrugged, “I know it’s not much, but this should allow Doma a bit of freedom. She can also find me a suitable body that I can tie her soul to.”

“It’s not about tying a soul to a body. It is about the link being strong enough to withstand Doma’s soul and curses.”

Arad stood and approached the woman, looking at her closely, and she felt a cold sense of dread wash over her. She had never felt threatened that much, even when in hell. No, she felt the same cold terror before; it was when the Emperor of Nothing stared at her for a second.

Of course, a horrfying monster like Sena who can snatch sinners from hell and give them bodies to use them as servants also knows someone as horryfing as the Emperor of Nothing.

Arad looked at the woman’s soul and how Sena liked it to the body. It was both simple and complicated.

The simple part is that the only thing needed to link a soul to a body is a silver chain made from the soul’s essence.

The complicated part is that extracting too much essence will destroy the soul, forming the chain itself is near impossible, and even when formed, it’s not always stable enough to be reliable.

“Divinity, without a strong enough divine essence to reinforce and mend the chain, fully bringing someone to life is near impossible. But Arad saw something strange as well.

“Give me a second.” Arad sat on his chair and closed his eyes. Soon, he was looking at his own soul, to be precise, the third dormant soul. This was the only soul that he ever saw that did not have a silver chain linking it to a body.

There was also the problem of essence. Arad tried to pull essence from it, but he couldn’t. Without the silver chain, pulling the essence was nothing short of impossible.

Arad sighed and looked at Sena. “This gave more questions than answers.”

Sena shrugged, “You can take any of the servants with you to study if you want. But this is the limit of my current ability. Of course, unless I want to take a few major risks.”

“Risks? Like what?”

“Like my mom finding out and skinning us both before locking us in cages for a century as a punishment. She had done that once to me when I killed someone important.” Sena sighed, “It wasn’t the killing that angered her, it was the fact that I destroyed the bastard’s soul alongside all of his power. We needed that power.”

Sara, who had been silent for a while, spoke, “You said something about finding Doma a full body. How will that work?”

“Same as organs. The closer to her bloodline they are, the better. The closely related and similar they are, the better her chances of fully integrating with the body. For small modifications like height, hair color, and magic circuit pathways. My magic should be enough.”

Sena then approached Arad and put her hand on his chest. “Can I take a look at Doma’s soul?”

“Of course.”

A moment later, she snatched her hand away and looked at it. “Now that’s a problem. Her soul is cursed.” She glared at Arad, “Doma, how did you die? It wasn’t a normal death, was it?”

Doma walked from behind Arad in a body made of pure void. Her voice rumbled across the room, “Of course it wasn’t a normal death. Who would be able to kill me?”

From everything Sena knew about the Queens of Curses Doma, she should’ve been far too powerful in her prime to be defeated. Even gods would’ve struggled to kill her.

Doma sighed, “I did see Arad with my clairvoyant power. The problem is that I was fated to die of old age before he was even born.” She looked at Arad, “Isn’t that a bit cruel?”

Sara, who was quietly listening, sighed, “The good old path of destruction, a quest for immortality. How in hell did you die trying to become immortal?”

Doma remained silent for a while, and then Sena gasped. “Wait, trying to become immortal is a bit too mundane for you. What did you do?”

“What else? I tried to destroy fate. And ended up fighting the triplets of fate.” She giggled, “As you can see, we’re all alive. Those three are quite hard to kill.”

Sena held her face in her hands. “You… you went and started a fight with fate? Did you go insane?”

Doma strangely nodded, “The curse of the bright mind. Madness and genius are two faces of the same coin.”
