Chapter 1101 - 1101: The Enemy Of My Enemy Is My Friend [Part 1]In the Underground Base of the Artemians…
“According to Azoh’Karn’s testimony, it seems that Lucan is now dead,” one of the Ministers of the Artemian Army said in a solemn tone. “And Azoh’Ran is missing.”
The other ministers had a troubled look on their faces after hearing the report.
Losing an Archon, especially at a time like this, was a big blow to the Artemians.
Fortunately, Azoh’Karn had become an Archon, replacing the role Lucan had left behind.
Still, it was troubling that a Golden Azothrall had gone missing. According to the specifics, Azoh-Ran was last seen two days ago.
No one had seen where it had gone, and even its subordinates were clueless as to why it suddenly left the Main Headquarters it was supposed to protect.
The Azothralls were loyal to the Artemians, even if they were stronger than them.
These alien-like monsters were programmed to obey them, so it was impossible for Azoh’Ran to disappear without telling them anything.
“There is only one possibility,” a Minister who goes by the name, Lysander, commented. “Maybe Lucan is still alive.”
Lysander was the second in command of the Artemian Army, so without Lucan manning their faction, the entire army was now his to command.
The minister was a middle-aged man with short red hair and had sharp features like a hawk. His gaze was always fierce, so not many could look at him in the eyes for a long time.
“If he is still alive, then why won’t he reveal himself?” another Minister asked. “Did he betray us?”
Lysander shook his head. He had known Lucan for a very long time, and although the two of them didn’t always see eye to eye, there was no reason for the Artemian Commander to betray them.
Which led to only one answer.
“Perhaps he feels threatened,” Lysander stated. “He must have suffered grievous injuries after his battle with Princess Zia and thought that we might kill him to take command of the army.”
“Preposterous!” a chubby Minister shouted. “Does he think that we will really do such a thing?!”
The other Ministers looked at the chubby Minister who had only served the Artemian King for a year.
“You’re still new, so I understand why you don’t think that we’re not capable of such things.” Lysander smiled faintly. “But that is not always the case. If Lucan had decided to leave, bringing Azoh’Ran with him, it just means that he truly believes that his life will be in danger.”
The sharp-eyed Minister glanced at his comrades before lightly tapping the table in front of him.
“I’m sure that all of you might think differently, but the order of the army must not fall apart,” Lysander declared. “As such, I will have no choice but to take full control over it. Do not forget, the Jinns are still looking for our whereabouts. A civil war between us will not benefit anyone.”
The other Ministers nodded in agreement.
While they do covet power and a position that would make them a King in this new world, the time to drag each other down was not now.
“Will you be sending scouts to look for Lucan’s whereabouts?” a Minister asked. T@hi$s- c#on*t*e+n$t^ was fi#r.s-t@ r+el&ea!sed on NovelFire&MP^Y@R.^
“No,” Lysander answered. “Even if we send a scout, it will be useless. Azoh’Ran will simply kill them, and that will not benefit us at all. If Lucan wants to hide, only Azoh’Karn has the power to deal with him.”
Lysander understood that the thing they should talk about was where they would go from here.
“Hey, I have a crazy idea,” the chubby Minister said. “How about we ally with the Wanderers and deal with the Jinns? I mean, although Zion Leventis is one of our main targets, that doesn’t mean we have to fight him now, does it?
“If we take a few steps back and talk it out with them, I’m sure they will consider this alliance seriously. After all, we and the Jinns are their enemies. For now, the enemy of our enemy is our friend.
“In short, forming an alliance with the Wanderers will bring us more benefit. Don’t you agree?”
The Ministers looked at the chubby guy as if they were seeing him for the first time.
“… You’re smarter than you look.”
“I guess the King didn’t choose you as a Minister for nothing.’
“That is a bold plan, and we have nothing to lose at this point.”
Even Lysander found the plan to his liking.
Since the Artemians and the Jinns were both enemies of humanity, using each other to eliminate the other party wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Not to mention, both the Wanderers and the Artemians had more to gain from this alliance since both of them were a “technological race”. This meant that they could share each other’s technology and potentially collaborate to create greater things.
“Not bad…” Lysander muttered. “Not bad, indeed.”
He then looked at the other ministers and raised his hand.
“Those who are in favor of this plan, raise your hands,” Lysander ordered. “Those who don’t like it, you can abstain from raising your hand.”
The five ministers raised their hands at the same time, which made the decision a unanimous one.
After discussing how to present their proposed alliance to the Wanderers, Lysander used his communicator to request a meeting with the Central Government.
He had sent their Headquarters a message, showing his face to prove that they were not pranking them.
Two hours later, Lysander’s communicator started beeping, and he saw an unfamiliar number flash on its screen.
Although he didn’t know who was calling him, he was well aware of the reason for this call.
And just as he expected, the projection of Lawrence appeared in front of him.
“I am Lawrence, the Grand Marshal of the Central Government,” Lawrence introduced himself politely.
“I am Lysander, a Minister of the Artemian Army, recently promoted as its new Commander,” Lysander replied. “Thank you for giving me this opportunity to talk to you.”
Lawrence and Lysander were both sly foxes, so they understood that being polite to each other was the standard procedure in making a good first impression.
Although Lawrence was surprised that the Artemians had reached out to them first, they thought that this might be a good opportunity to have a dialogue with them.
Both of them also believed that the enemy of their enemy was their friend.
As such, the Grand Marshal of the Central Government was willing to listen to the newly promoted Artemian Commander and understand the reason for this meeting that he had asked for.
