SUPREME ARCH-MAGUS

Chapter 896 - 896: Fighting a Shadow!?

The Pool Master’s voice rang like a bell chime carried on a divine breeze.

“This boy…” he said, gesturing to Kent, who scratched his ear idly. “…is no ordinary challenger. I have seen his reflection in the waters of destiny. Let him fight.”

Elder Hua’s face twisted in protest. “But Master, the rules—”

The Pool Master raised a hand.

“He may compete, but under one condition.” The sky seemed to grow heavier with his words. “He shall face not one… not two… but all five prime contenders at once. Only then shall he prove himself worthy of joining their rank.”

The crowd gasped.

Elder Liam, still recovering from the shock of Kent’s appearance, practically choked. “What?! All five?! Are we throwing him into a meat grinder?! That’s not a challenge, that’s a funeral plan! He’s one man, not a sect!”

Kent wiped a smudge from his robe, then turned his head lazily.

“Only five?” he asked.

Everyone turned to him.

“I was hoping for six or seven. But if that’s all you’ve got, sure, I don’t mind.”

He rolled his shoulders, looking up at the sky as if it mildly inconvenienced him.

“Let’s get it over with. I also want to test my new skills.”

The arena exploded in noise.

“Arrogant!”

“Who does he think he is?!”

“Five core-level disciples, each representing the top sects!”

One of the fire disciples screamed, “You’ll regret that arrogance!”

From the staging platform, five figures leapt down with the force of descending meteors.

The earth trembled. The air sparked.

One by one, they landed:

-Wu Shen, descendant of the Earth Dome Sect bloodline, his skin glowing with granite runes, fists as hard as immortal ore. He landed with a boom that cracked the arena floor.

-Li Bo, master of the Bronze Mountain Fist, muscles rippling under his sleeveless robes, bronze light surrounding his form like a second skin. He grinned savagely, slamming his fists together.

-Zi Han, twin blade prodigy, cold and graceful like a sword unsheathed. Her blades hummed with killing intent, dancing like falling leaves in a storm.

-Yi Zhao, the Flame Monarch of the Sun Fire Pavilion, hair blazing like wildfire, crimson robes fluttering as he raised a burning spear to the sky.

-Mu Yang, the icy beauty, her feet wrapped in frost as lotus petals drifted around her, the Heart Lotus Scripture glowing on her forehead, her fan already open, wind coiling like a serpent around her form.

They formed a five-point star, slowly surrounding Kent.

From the sky, spiritual runes lit up, forming a Heaven-Sealed Arena, trapping all six within.

The disciples shouted:

“Destroy him!”

“Let this arrogant fool know what true power is!”

“Prime disciples, don’t hold back!”

Elder Hua smirked. “Let him feel the weight of reality.”

Elder Liam, pale, whispered, “Boy… you’d better survive this…”

Kent looked around the star formation, unfazed. He tilted his head.

“Hmm. Bronze Mountain. Earth Dome. Twin Blade. Fire Spear. Wind Fan.”

He pointed to each casually like a wine taster evaluating a menu.

“So who’s going to swing first?”

The arena’s temperature dropped. Sparks danced in the air. Qi surged from all five disciples.

And above them all… the Pool Master whispered:

“Let the battle begin.”

Chapter: Pee-Ka-Boo Bang

The air trembled.

The clash of five forces—Fire, Wind, Earth, Metal, and Blade—shook the very arena foundation as the prime disciples of five great sects unleashed their signature opening moves in perfect coordination.

It began with Yi Zhao of the Sun Fire Pavilion. His spear ignited with solar essence, a passing bolt of blazing fury. With a shout, he hurled it across the sky like a flaming comet.

“Sun-Scorching Skyfall!”

The fire spear roared, tearing the air as it shot toward Kent with terrifying speed.

BOOM!

But before the crowd could even blink—

Kent raised one hand.

A casual, almost bored backhand punch met the spear.

CRACK!

The fire spear shattered like glass, vanishing into harmless sparks. The crowd gasped.

But before anyone could even register what had just happened—

Mu Yang raised her Wind Fan, and with a swirl of her delicate wrist, a lotus of frost and wind petals surged forward. It twisted like a living spirit, glowing with icy scripture.

“Wind Heart Lotus Bind!”

The spell closed in on Kent like a divine cage—freezing air tightened around him.

But then—

“Earth Seal!”

Wu Shen, the Earth Dome sect prodigy, slammed both palms into the arena. The ground beneath Kent burst open as a massive dome of solid earth erupted upward, trapping Kent within a stone dome. Its walls were reinforced by mountain qi—resistant to both elemental and spiritual attacks.

The crowd went wild.

But it wasn’t over.

Li Bo had already leapt into the air. A mountainous aura spiraled around his fists. Hovering just above the earth dome, he waited for Kent to come out. A gigantic bronze phantom fist, larger than a boulder, crackling with the power of ten thousand slams.

“Bronze Mountain Fist Descent!”

He grinned, “Let’s see you crawl out after this, spring roll boy!”

But then—

Zi Han flicked both wrists, her twin blades dancing in her fingers like spirits. The edges turned transparent, absorbing sunlight. With a flash, the blades flew forward—

“Sun-Piercing Twin Moon Strike!”

They spun like divine saws, penetrating directly into the dome from opposite sides, creating a cross-blade death zone. They would pass through and exit on the other side… with or without their target intact.

The arena erupted.

Claps. Cheers. Fists in the air.

“Finished him!”

“He’s done!”

“What was that kid even thinking?”

“Did he just die without screaming?”

Even the elders nodded. Some chuckled.

Elder Hua folded his arms with cold satisfaction. “Arrogance is a flame. And today, it’s been extinguished.”

Elder Jin smirked. “He never stood a chance.”

Only Elder Liam turned pale, one hand clenching the robe over his chest. He stumbled forward. “No… no, this isn’t right…” His knees almost buckled.

But above them all, seated calmly with a serene gaze, the Immortal Pool Master watched the dome with quiet amusement.

A breeze passed by. He sipped from a small jade teacup. And softly muttered—

“Look again.”

Inside the dome—

There was no Kent.

Just a fading illusion.

A faint afterimage shimmered, smiled lazily, and vanished into sparkling dust.

Outside the dome—

Right behind Li Bo. Kent was standing there. Calm. Casual. Not a scratch on him. He even had his hands behind his back.

“Peek-a-boo,” he said softly.

Li Bo turned.

His pupils shrank.

“Wha—”

BANG!

A fist met his face with such casual brutality, it sounded less like a martial art move and more like an audible punctuation mark.

Li Bo was sent flying like a cannonball, crashing into the far end of the arena and taking out a corner pillar as his body smashed through five barriers of reinforced qi.

“WHAAAA—?!?”

SILENCE.

The crowd froze.

Even the cheering disciples stopped, mouths half open.

The five elders jolted upright.

Mu Yang’s fan trembled in her hand.

Yi Zhao’s flames dimmed slightly.

Wu Shen’s jaw clenched.

Zi Han’s eyes widened.

Elder Liam?

He was on the ground, clutching his chest… and now blinking in disbelief.

“What… just happened?”
