Chapter 3668: Northmount Domain

Chapter 3668: Northmount Domain

There was chaos in the Spirit Nidus due to the upcoming expedition to the Consciousness Megaverse.

When Lu Yin learned that the High Seraph had started searching parallel universes for the hidden Luminary, he understood that the man was avoiding getting involved in what was happening between Yue Ya and Lu Yin. Specifically, the High Seraph likely wanted to have an alibi prepared for Yue Ya.

For even the High Seraph to act in such a way amply demonstrated just how high above the Spirit Nidus the Nine Odysseys Megaverse truly stood.

Months passed with Lu Yin tirelessly continuing to pry karmic bricks in the Roaming South Realm.

In his inner universe, there was a significantly larger amount of the spirit seed liquid, though more than half of the spirit seeds were still unmelted.

Lu Yin was in no hurry. He had enough liquid for the time being.

The karmic bricks were not easy to pry loose from the wall.

He looked up at the starry sky. Young Master Yu had returned.

“Greetings, Seraph Lu,” Young Master Yu said with a bow.

Lu Yin waved a hand. “Enough of that. What do you need?”

“Old Yu wants me to guide you to the Northmount Domain, Seraph Lu. He claims that a connection to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse is there.”

Lu Yin was surprised. “A connection to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse?”

Young Master Yu replied respectfully, “I do not know whether it is true, but that is what he told me and instructed me to share with you.”

Lu Yin studied Young Master Yu. “And by telling me, you’re carrying out his orders while also completing my orders to report back to me. Clever move.”

Young Master Yu grew alarmed, and he dropped to his knees. “This has to be a trap. I have never heard of any such connection in the Northmount Domain or the Wisdom Domain. I ask that you see clearly, Seraph Lu.”

Lu Yin tapped the void with a finger, and an astral chart of the Spirit Nidus appeared before him.

Northmount Domain... right. He remembered where it was. The first conscient that he devoured here had belonged to one of the Northmount Domain’s Peak Masters, who had also been the son of the Northmount Domain’s Mountain Master.

What a coincidence. Do they actually intend to lure me there?

"One more thing: I believe there actually might be a connection."

"Why’s that?"

"A group of people from the Heavencraft Domain have gone to the Northmount Domain."

Lu Yin raised an eyebrow. "From the Heavencraft Domain?"

Young Master Yu continued on in a tactful manner, saying, "Just a few months ago, the Heavencraft Domain’s Grandmaster Ling Zuo secretly led a group of cultivators to the Northmount Domain. No one knows what they did there, and my master has never mention it, but it is too much of a coincidence. My master wants Seraph Lu led to the Northmount Domain, and coincidentally, a group of people from the Heavencraft Domain also sneaked over there."

Lu Yin was impressed. "Not bad. That’s actually a bit useful. Without that, I might have thought that your loyalty to me was nothing more than an act."

Young Master Yu quickly declared, "I would not dare!"

Lu Yin started thinking. What could be the connection between the Heavencraft Domain, the Northmount Domain, and the Wisdom Domain?

The Wisdom Domain had once been supported by the Ru family, and it was currently answering to Yue Ya. Almost all of the Lesser Sancte’s people in the Spirit Nidus had been exposed while gathering spirit seeds for Lu Yin, but none of them had been connected to either the Northmount Domain or the Heavencraft Domain.

The Heavencraft Domain... Spirit Threads Rule the World.

Lu Yin’s eyes flashed as he recalled the strange scene that he had witnessed on the Day of Offering. In addition to the seven inverted funnels, there had also been gigantic “灵” characters continuously rising up, shrinking as they had so until their forms created a triangle. Those “灵” characters had been formed from spirit threads. It appeared that spirit threads were also related to the seven inverted funnels, as the characters seemingly propelled the liquid upwards through the funnels.

Since the “灵” character was connected to the funnels, it indicated that it was also a connection to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

Lu Yin had already considered such a connection before. So, while he was devouring conscients, he had also investigated the Heavencraft Domain, only to find nothing at all. For that reason, he had stopped paying attention to the domain, but with this new activity, Lu Yin was certain that there was a connection between the Heavencraft Domain and the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

If they aren’t Yue Ya’s people...

Xing Fan.

Lu Yin remembered that name. In the message that Emperor Wu had sent Lu Yin, he had mentioned that he had received the Nine Heavens Transformation from Xing Fan. However, Ge Yao had claimed that Emperor Wu had received the Nine Heavens Transformation from Yue Ya. This led to a simple deduction: Yue Ya and Xing Fan were working together.

In the current scheme against Lu Yin, Yue Ya’s efforts could be seen in Old Yu, while the Heavencraft Domain belonged to Xing Fan.

The two Lesser Sancti were working together on something, but was it really the Northmount Domain? If they were not trying to lure Lu Yin to the Morrow Behemoth’s hand, then were they attempting to take him to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse through the Northmount Domain? Could that domain really have a connection to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse?

The essence of a convincing lie was to blend the truth with falsehood. Old Yu’s claim that the Northmount Domain was connected to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse might not be entirely false.

“The fact that Old Yu wants you to tell me this now means that I can go to the Northmount Domain at any time. They’re already prepared for me there,” Lu Yin thought aloud.

Young Master Yu stayed silent. He had not known about any of this. In a game of this scale, he was nothing more than just a pawn. Even his master was just a pawn. Neither of them had any idea what the real game was even about.

“And what’s that old man doing?” Lu Yin asked.

“He is still in the Wisdom Domain,” Young Master Yu replied.

Lu Yin sneered. The old man had sent a message through Young Master Yu while pretending to know nothing. Old Yu was trying to lure Lu Yin in by feigning ignorance. Does he really think that it will be so easy?

“Get that old man to go there for me,” Lu Yin ordered.

Young Master Yu considered the request for a moment. “I’ll see to it immediately.”

There was no need for Lu Yin to give instructions on how to go about this. The entire scheme had been created by Old Yu, and because of that, Young Master Yu simply needed to report things honestly.

That was exactly what he did.

Old Yu frowned. “He doesn’t trust me?”

“Yes. Seraph Lu still remains cautious of me. He said that he will only go to the Northmount Domain once you are there, Master. He told me to keep an eye on you,” Young Master Yu replied.

Old Yu nodded. “That’s to be expected. Lesser Sancte Yue Ya has schemed against him several times before, which has made him cautious. Since that’s the case, I’ll go.”

“Master, will this be dangerous?” Young Master Yu asked with concern.

Old Yu smiled. “It will be fine. This is a trap for Seraph Lu. I might not know how things will turn out, but I’m self-aware enough to know that I’m not important enough to be targeted by a Lesser Sancte.

“We’ll wait a few more days, and then I’ll go.”

A few days later, Old Yu left the Wisdom Domain and traveled to the Northmount Domain.

Young Master Yu reported to Lu Yin the moment the old man was gone.

Lu Yin stood up and left the Roaming South Realm. While he already knew that this was a trap set up by Yue Ya, Lu Yin still needed to go. He was already expecting a plot, and he wanted to use this opportunity to learn what Yue Ya’s plans to deal with him were, as well as what role the Heavencraft Domain played in all this. Without this information, the next trap might be far more dangerous.

When Lu Yin left, Qing Yun and Qing Xiao were finally able to let out sighs of relief. The monster was finally gone.

However, Yuan Qi had remained behind, which suggested that Lu Yin would return.

Towering mountains rose high into the sky of the Northmount Domain. From a distance, they looked like sharp blades, or even hazy giants looking down upon their surroundings.

Lu Yin observed the Northmount Domain with surprise. He had not expected to a domain in such an inconspicuous location in the lower half of the “灵” character to have such towering peaks. These mountains were no shorter than the those in the Primal Beastland.

He arrived in secret.

Old Yu had arrived earlier, and he was still waiting outside the Northmount Domain’s border. His task was merely to lure Lu Yin into the domain. The old man had no idea what would happen afterwards .

While staring into the Northmount Domain, Old Yu felt nervous. He firmly believed that he was not qualified to be targeted by those involved in this plot, but he still did not dare to enter the domain.

As for the people from the Heavencraft Domain, they had already left. Old Yu had not learned anything about what they had done during their time here in the Northmount Domain. The fact that he had even noticed their presence was quite impressive.

At this moment, the Northmount Domain looked no different from usual.

Cultivators were still training on each of the mountains, each person living their lives as normal. They might see a senior brother from a certain peak accomplish something legendary, or they might acknowledge that some peak lord was worthy of their admiration. However, they all remained ignorant that the sky of the entire Northmount Domain was about to change.

Only Peak Master Ling Feng knew anything at all, though even he had not been given any specifics.

The Northmount Domain had seventeen tall mountains. Months ago, Peak Master Ling Feng had ordered all seventeen Peak Lords to return to their assigned mountains, though none of the Peak Lords knew why. Even when the Peak Master’s own son had asked, he had been given no explanation.

Ling Feng’s command was one that had never been given before: the Peak Lords were to arrange the seventeen mountains to form a formation.

Since ancient times, the Northmount Domain had passed down a method of shifting the mountains. They did not form a spirit treasure formation, but the domain’s Peak Lords still referred to the arrangement as a formation.

No one understood the significance of the formation. While many Peak Lords and even some Peak Masters had examined the formation over the years, none had achieved any success.

It had been believed that the formation would never be used, so it was entirely unexpected for them to arrange it now.

Lu Yin and several others were looking at the Northmount Domain after the formation had been arranged.

Aside from the taller mountains standing out, there was nothing unusual about the domain.

Lu Yin noticed Old Yu standing outside the border of the Northmount Domain. A short while after that, he also saw Yong Heng. It was a surprise to see that True God had also arrived.

Beside Yong Heng stood Ru Guo.

Neither Yong Heng nor Old Yu noticed Lu Yin, though they both knew that Lu Yin should already be present somewhere.

In the distance, Yong Heng and Ru Guo both peered into the Northmount Domain. “Is this it?”

“That is what Old Yu said. He told us to come here and wait quietly for orders from Lesser Sancte Yue Ya,” Ru Guo calmly replied.

Yong Heng looked around, and then he stared at where Lu Yin was looking back. The two men exchanged glances.

Yong Heng was a bit surprised, but he quickly understood. He looked back into the Northmount Domain. So that’s it. This is a trap set for Lu Yin.

“Has Old Yu surrendered to Lesser Sancte Yue Ya?” Yong Heng suddenly asked.

Ru Guo’s expression fell. He glanced over at Old Yu’s distant figure, but he said nothing.

Yong Heng chuckled. “Don’t take it too personally. It’s perfectly normal. Come on, let’s go speak with him.”

With that, True God headed over to Old Yu with Ru Guo following close behind.

Old Yu quickly noticed the two men, and an awkward expression appeared on his face. It was extremely uncomfortable for Old Yu to face Ru Guo.

Regardless of whether Old Yu had surrendered to Boundless or Yue Ya, surrendering to another was nothing less than betraying the Ru family.

“What’s going on?” Ru Guo demanded.

Old Yu replied, “I don’t know myself. Lesser Sancte Yue Ya told us to wait here.”

While the old man was willing to lie to Lu Yin and claim that the Northmount Domain was connected to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, he could not lie to Ru Guo. Also, Old Yu understood that Ru Guo and Yong Heng were present because of Yong Heng.

Yue Ya had paid a steep price for Xing Fan to reveal their Northmount Domain trump card. The Lesser Sancte was not content with only luring Lu Yin into the trap; Yong Heng was also a target. The fact that Yong Heng had dared to toy with the Lesser Sancte was something that Yue Ya could never forgive. As for Ru Guo, the man did not even matter.

Ru Guo looked into the Northmount Domain and frowned. “Could it be that we’re waiting for a Moon Servant?”

Yong Heng’s heart stirred. “Moon Servant?”

Ru Guo explained in a low voice, “Yue Ya’s servants are called the Moonbound. There should be quite a few throughout the Spirit Nidus. It’s possible that there’s one here in the Northmount Domain.”

“The one who approached me before, were they also a Moonbound?” Yong Heng asked.

Old Yu nodded. “Most likely.”

After waiting for a while, yet still seeing no sign of Lu Yin, Old Yu looked into the Northmount Domain and then off into the distance. He finally sighed. “Let’s go in.”

He truly did not want to enter the Northmount Domain. He was aware that the domain was a trap set for Lu Yin. However, if Lu Yin refused to take the bait, the trap would be a failure and Old Yu would have no excuse to offer Yue Ya. That would certainly result in Old Yu’s death. That was why he had no choice but to take a risk.
