Chapter 3632: Saved Your Life

Chapter 3632: Saved Your Life

Lu Yin praised, "The Nine Heavens Transformation is truly amazing. It allowed my overall strength to completely transform. The sword in the final layer is one that I learned from Wu Wei, but I haven’t fully perfected that technique just yet. I need Wu Wei to help me complete it."

"Where did you obtain the Nine Heavens Transformation?" the High Seraph finally asked. Even more frustrating to him was that even the Origin Progenitor knew the technique. Was it possible that the others on Boundless had also obtained the technique? Just thinking of that possibility made the High Seraph feel stifled, as though he had been played for a fool, and by many people at that.

Ever since Lu Yin’s battle with Emperor Wu, countless people had been wondering where Lu Yin and Emperor Wu had obtained the Nine Heavens Transformation. Naturally, the High Seraph was also puzzled by this mystery. Lu Yin obtaining the technique was completely outside of the High Seraph’s expectations. Without the Nine Heavens Transformation, how could Lu Yin have neutralized Everlasting Will?

Finally, he had an opportunity to ask about the matter.

Lu Yin did not answer, and he instead asked his own rejoinder. "Why did you attack Ru Mu?

"Don't try to tell me that it was to stop me from going to Heavenspire. The entrance to Heavenspire is so close to the Ascendant Hall that, if you really don’t want me to go there, you could seal it off completely. There was no need to specifically attack Ru Mu while she was on Boundless."

The High Seraph waved a hand, stunning Lan for a moment, but she still left with the dismissal.

Only after Lan had withdrawn did the High Seraph answer. "I saved your life."

The reply confused Lu Yin. "What does that mean?"

"Exactly what I said. If you won't tell me where you obtained the Nine Heavens Transformation, I won't press you. If you want Wu Wei, that’s fine. Trade me one of the Thirteen Luminaries for them."

Lu Yin then left. The High Seraph had dismissed Lan solely to ensure that she did not hear his one answer.

The situation regarding Ru Mu was too strange.

As Lu Yin emerged from the Ascendant Hall, he suddenly turned around to look at the Morrow Behemoth, focusing on the creature’s hand.

Right before Lu Yin had left to visit the Ascendant Hall, Ru Can had arrived in the Hundred Grasses Domain and taken Ru Mu away. The woman had basically been reduced to a living corpse. When leaving, Ru Can had left a single message for Lu Yin: Heavenspire welcomes you.

A single sentence had completely shattered everything that Ru Mu had said to Lu Yin.

She had claimed that Heavenspire did not want Lu Yin to visit, which was why she had worked to determine the location of the entrance to Heavenspire. However, Ru Can had informed Lu Yin that he was welcome to enter Heavenspire. Ru Can could not have been speaking of his own accord, which meant that it was a message from Ru Guo, the Ru family’s patriarch.

Lu Yin had received two completely contradictory messages from Ru Mu and Ru Guo.

Lu Yin strongly suspected that Ru Guo was hinting at something. Before Ru Mu had been reduced to being a living corpse, the only valuable information that she had given Lu Yin was the fact that the entrance to Heavenspire was currently in the Morrow Behemoth’s hand.

Upon hearing the location of the entrance to Heavenspire, Lu Yin had found it odd that it would be in the Morrow Behemoth’s hand. Why there? The message from the Ru family felt like it was a thread connecting the Morrow Behemoth’s hand to whatever Ru Mu had been trying to accomplish.

Lu Yin looked at the Morrow Behemoth’s hand, but the moment his sight reached that place, an intense chill enveloped him. He felt as if a pair of eyes were staring straight at him. Who could it be? The High Seraph?

Why is someone suddenly watching me? Is it because of the Morrow Behemoth’s hand?

Instinctively, Lu Yin shifted his attention upwards to stare at the beast’s face, acting as if glancing at its hand had been coincidental.

He had never felt such a terrifying chill before. Could it really have been the High Seraph? Lu Yin was uncertain. He stared at the Morrow Behemoth’s face for a long time before finally leaving.

The entire time, he made sure to never glance at the beast’s hand again, not even out of the corner of his eye.

Still, he was already convinced that the Morrow Behemoth’s hand was somehow problematic.

It might even be the reason why the High Seraph had attacked Ru Mu; she might have mentioned something that was forbidden.

...

The darkness of outer space looked the same as always, but suddenly, the void tore open, and countless attacks of sword qi rained down, shattering the land below. The air was instantly filled with cries of agony.

A group of cultivators stepped out from the torn void. At the front was a powerhouse from the Forest Wing Sect, one of the Five Forest Sects of the Thirty-Six Domains.

He looked down from high above, an arrogant and mocking expression on his face, though there was also a hint of fear. "There really was a group hiding here. Move in, but remember, don’t kill them. Capture as many of them alive as possible."

Down on the ground, countless people were frozen in place. The land held cities and even entire empires.

The people were bewildered when they saw cultivators arrive in force. The indigenous cultivators of this universe were not very powerful, and anyone that could move freely through outer space was treated as a demigod. Despite that, all of the invading cultivators appeared to be capable of easily moving about in outer space.

How could there be so many demigods?

The empire was split in two, and the regions that had previously been treated as forbidden places by the empire’s inhabitants were shattered entirely.

One after another, conscients revealed ferocious expressions and attacked the invaders.

The expert from the Five Forests sneered as he peered at the distant imperial palace down on the ground. In that building, a man who sat high above all others looked up. “How did you manage to find this place?”

“You’ll find out soon enough. Are there actually five Starlight-realm conscients here? You now belong to me!”

...

A spirit thread sliced through the void, cutting a line of spacecraft in half with a shower of sparks.

A master craftsman from the Heavencraft Domain pulled back the spirit thread, his eyes blazing as he stared into the distance. Sure enough, there were a great number of conscients present.

Beams of light shot into outer space from a distant planet, only for all of them to be eliminated by various Spirit Nidus cultivators.

The ruler of the Northern Mountain Domain had personally taken action. He wanted to capture more conscients for the disciples of his Northern Mountain Domain. On top of that, some of the conscients in this parallel universe were as powerful as Ortusers, and the man wanted them.

...

Lu Yin had given the Ascendant Hall the locations of five parallel universes where conscients were hiding. While Lu Yin had no idea just how many conscients were hiding in the entire megaverse, the ones that he had exposed would be enough to ease the Spirit Nidus’s suspicions regarding Boundless.

He went to a specific universe and watched as countless conscients fought against cultivators in the distance. He turned and walked into a silver building, proceeding just one step at a time.

Each step sent ripples spreading through the building, as though Lu Yin was treading on the very fabric of the universe, suppressing the entire thing.

In the depths of the building, someone started laughing. The man held a piece of paper in his hand that he shoved in the faces of the other three people who were in the room. “You’ve lost again! Hahaha!”

He was wearing a robe that was embroidered with flowers. It had bright colors and was extremely eye-catching. A broad smile covered the man’s face.

The other three people exchanged glances, their eyes kept flickering as they occasionally looked at the floor.

The ripples reached the floor beneath them. The three people tried to tear the void open and escape, but it was impossible.

"Master, he’s here," a man who had five pieces of paper stuck to his head anxiously reported.

The man in the flower-embroidered robe dismissed the concerns with a wave of his hand. "Don't worry about him. Let’s play another round. Don’t go easy on me this time. If anyone lets me win, I’ll kill them."

"Master, first deal with the intruder! The human’s aura is terrifying," another person begged. The woman’s face looked like all of her blood had been drained away.

Play another round of the game? They could not even sit still!

The man in the flower robe rolled his eyes. "How pathetic. A single human scares you so badly? Get lost!"

The three felt as though they had just been granted amnesty, and they instantly fled.

It was at that moment that Lu Yin arrived. He glanced at the three escaping figures, but he quickly moved on to look at the man in the flower robe. He was idly playing with some cards while mumbling to himself.

The other three did not dare to meet Lu Yin’s gaze, and they turned away and raced away without any hesitation.

Lu Yin did not stop them. Each of the three was a Stellar-realm conscient, which made them as strong as a Progenitor. Such beings were perfect offerings for the Spirit Nidus.

Lu Yin could devour ordinary conscients, as the Spirit Nidus’s powerhouses would not even glance at such weaklings. However, weak cultivators held no value for Lu Yin. This was another reason why it was better for him to let the Spirit Nidus’s experts capture the more powerful conscients; such creatures would serve as Lu Yin’s spies.

Just a few steps took Lu Yin to the doorway to the room, and he looked inside.

The man in the flower robe looked up at Lu Yin and grinned brightly. "Do you want to play a round?"

Lu Yin nodded and sat down on the other side of the table. "What are the rules?"

"Simple." The man pulled out a card, and showed how the top-right corner had a constantly changing number, though it always remained between one and nine. "You tap the card, and the number will stop. Whoever pulls the higher number wins. The winner gets to stick the card to the loser’s forehead.

"Sounds fun, right?"

Lu Yin was intrigued. "Interesting, but why should I play with you?"

The man chuckled. "You're here to capture me. If you can beat me ten times in a row, I'll go with you willingly, no resistance."

The man was none other than one of the Thirteen Luminaries: Hua Manyi.

Lu Yin knew very little about Hua Manyi. During his three months in seclusion, he had rolled Possession five times, and one of those occasions had allowed him to Possess a conscient in this particular parallel universe. That was the only reason why Lu Yin had managed to find Hua Manyi. Without that, it would have been impossible.

The conscient that Lu Yin had Possessed before had only known that two of the Thirteen Luminaries were hiding in the Spirit Nidus, but they had known absolutely nothing about their locations.

Hua Manyi was just unlucky.

Lu Yin agreed. "Alright, let’s play."

Hua Manyi's eyes flickered. "However, if I win, you have to answer one of my questions, one question each round."

"That's not fair."

"It’s completely fair. I’m offering to not resist at all. Everything will be decided by this game."

Lu Yin smirked. "Fine, let’s do it."

Hua Manyi's eyes sparkled with excitement as he caused the stack of cards to float into the air. "Do you want to go first, or should I?"

"Go ahead."

Hua Manyi tapped a card, and the fluctuating number on the top-right corner instantly froze. "Seven! Haha, only two numbers can possibly beat that!"

Lu Yin tapped his own card. "Eight. Sorry about that."

Hua Manyi's face twitched. "Again. I got five. Your turn."

"Six. Apologies again."

"Again. Eight. Your turn."

"Nine. I’m really sorry."

Hua Manyi was stunned, and he stared at Lu Yin as though suddenly seeing a ghost. "You... you aren’t cheating, are you?"

Lu Yin shrugged. "I should ask you the same."

Hua Manyi became furious. "You really did cheat! This is a game! Things have to be fair! That round doesn’t count!"

Lu Yin chuckled. "The numbers can be controlled with waves of consciousness. You manipulated the numbers when you played with those three, didn’t you?"

Hua Manyi briefly froze and stared at Lu Yin in speechless shock. "Are you one of the Thirteen Luminaries, or am I? Why does it feel like your consciousness is even stronger than mine?"

Lu Yin had not found out anything about Hua Manyi in Wu Wei’s memories, which meant that Hua Manyi had become one of the Thirteen Luminaries after Wu Wei was captured. This was similar to how Bao Qi and Meng Sang had become Seraphs after Yuan Qi had left for the Tianyuan Megaverse. Compared to Wu Wei, Hua Manyi was quite young.

It was quite likely that Hua Manyi had become one of the Thirteen Luminaries somewhere between the destruction of the Heavens Sect in the Tianyuan Megaverse and the rise of the Nine Mountains and Eight Seas during the Daosource Sect era, though the exact time remained unknown.

"Fine, you win this one. Let’s go again." Hua Manyi tapped his card, and the number flickered several times before finally stopping on a nine.

He gave Lu Yin a smug smile. "See? You allowed me to go first, and now you’re stuck. You can’t win. At best, you can tie with me."

Lu Yin calmly looked at the conscient. "I’ll just have to put in a bit of effort. You’re free to fight back."

Hua Manyi leaned forward. "How did you find me?"

"You haven’t won this round yet," Lu Yin retorted. He then tapped his own card, and the number in the top right corner started shifting between two different numbers so quickly that the flickering caused a double-digit number to appear.

Lu Yin looked over at Hua Manyi. "I win."

Hua Manyi attacked without warning, his powerful consciousness blasting at Lu Yin. However, Lu Yin did not move at all and simply allowed the attack to land.

There was no effect.

He then raised his own hand and delivered a palm strike. The overwhelming power of the attack shattered the void and obliterated half of Hua Manyi’s body.
