Chapter 3381: Stillstorm

Wilderness God said, "We don't have anything related to them, nor does Skydog. While it’s a fact that Stillstorm existed, they’re more of a legend, or at least a legend during our era. It's hard to find anything related to them."

Lu Yin sighed. Finding True God was the most difficult task that he needed to accomplish. In fact, it was practically impossible. Before finding True God, Lu Yin would not be able to feel comfortable going to the Spirit Nidus.

But going to the Spirit Nidus was also something that absolutely had to be done.

Garan Zhiluo asked, "What did Stillstorm even look like? What were their characteristics? If we mobilize the entire Tianyuan Megaverse, we might be able to find something."

Wilderness God raised a hand and created a picture of Stillstorm in front of himself.

Wu Tian and the others frowned. By the time they had been accepted as the Origin Progenitor’s disciples, he had already been cultivating for a long time. Stillstorm had long since become a legend, and none of them had ever even seen a picture of them.

The Origin Progenitor stared at the picture of Stillstorm. "So this is what Stillstorm looked like."

Lu Yin also stared at it, but why did it look so familiar?

Stillstorm looked like a dragon from Earth’s mythologies.

As Lu Yin thought about it, he remembered that the Nests produced a type of insect that was known as Lithic Drakes. When they moved together in formation, they formed what looked like a flying dragon, which was very similar to Stillstorm’s image.

While traveling across the megaverse, Lu Yin had never come across any dragons that had such a shape, other than on Earth. While other parallel universes had dragon-like creatures, they were different from Earth's mythical dragons. Specifically, they were more similar to the jiaos from Earth’s eastern legends. Those creatures were unique to that region of Earth. In that case, why did the insects from the Nests form such a shape? Was it just a coincidence?

Why did Stillstorm look so much like the eastern dragons? Could that also be a coincidence?

When there were too many coincidences, it made it clear that things were not really a coincidence at all.

Lu Yin stared at the image of Stillstorm. There was no doubt that there was something wrong.

The more that Lu Yin looked, the more familiar the image felt. He had seen this form somewhere other than in Earth’s eastern mythologies. He became increasingly certain that he had seen the form elsewhere, but where? Where had he seen this kind of dragon before?

Lu Yin closed his eyes. Given his cultivation, he would not recognize something without having actually seen it before.

This was much like when he had recognized Yan Gang. Lu Yin had forgotten about that man long ago, but when the name was brought up, Lu Yin had been able to pull it out from the depths of his memories.

The picture of Stillstorm clearly was not something that Lu Yin had seen on Earth. He needed to dig deep into his memories to find where he had seen it.

No one disturbed Lu Yin, as it was clear to them that he was trying to remember something.

Wilderness God observed Lu Yin with open curiosity. With just a bit more than 100 years, this human had reached such exceptional heights. It truly defied imagination. How had the child cultivated to reach such a level?

Is he really from the Lu family? Can Loam have such a descendant?

Wilderness God glanced over at Lu Yuan, who met the astral beast’s gaze and raised an eyebrow.

Wilderness God was not smiling. He was maliciously suspecting that the Lu family’s bloodline was impure.

Suddenly, Lu Yin’s eyes opened again, and he pulled out a stone ball from his cosmic ring. This was where he had seen the image of Stillstorm before.

When Lu Yin had swept through the Junior Progenitor Planets with Progenitor Smoke while she had still been trapped in her mirror, he had taken some time to roll his die, and one of the rolls had been Pilfer. At that time, he had obtained a round ball of stone that was about 100 meters in diameter. At the time, he had known that it was not a normal item, given that it had been impossible to crush, even with his impressive physical strength. He had decided to keep the stone and had noticed an image on it. He had first thought that it was a snake, but after looking at it more closely, he recognized it as the image of Stillstorm.

The stone ball appeared in front of everyone. There was a drawing on it, and as people looked at it, they saw that it was extremely similar to the image of Stillstorm.

Wilderness God stared at the drawing, stunned. "Stillstorm?"

The Origin Progenitor was similarly surprised, and he turned to give Lu Yin a strange look.

The others also stared at him in astonishment.

Is this even possible? How does he have everything? It doesn’t make any sense.

Lu Yin himself was amazed.

When he had first acquired the stone ball, he had not even been an Envoy, and he had only obtained it by luck while rolling his die. There was no telling whose cosmic ring the stone ball had come from. It had happened long ago, before he had even been capable of going against the four ruling powers. Those four organizations themselves had already become a distant memory.

"Does this thing have a connection to Stillstorm?" Lu Yin asked eagerly.

Wilderness God looked back at the stone ball and carefully examined it. He then looked over at Lu Yin, this time with a hint of awe. "If I'm not mistaken, this is a sacred artifact that was used by a certain species of astral beast to worship Stillstorm. How did you get it?"

"By accident," Lu Yin answered casually.

Wilderness God was speechless. "This thing is incredibly old. It’s from a time that predates humanity itself. Even during our time, this would have been nearly impossible to find."

"It’s just a stone, which means that it can last basically forever. How can something like this be hard to find?" Lu Yin asked in confusion.

Wilderness God shook his head. "When Stillstorm disappeared, other astral beasts wanted to replace them at the peak, but how could they have done that without dealing with Stillstorm’s legacy? Master didn't have an easy time establishing the Heavens Sect. He fought many different astral beasts. Do you think that my master accepted me as a disciple without reason?"

The Origin Progenitor let out a small cough. "Yellowy, this thing can draw out Skydog, right?"

Wilderness God nodded. "It should, but because it’s so ancient, it would be better if we can get it closer to Skydog so that he can notice it."

"That’s doable," Lu Yin said excitedly. Finally, they had a way to deal with Yong Heng.

Progenitor Chen was able to track Forgotten Ruins God, and while he was not able to get close because of True God, as long as they had a general direction, pulling out the stone ball should draw Skydog over. As long as they were not in the Origin Universe, Yong Heng might lower his guard a bit.

"This item was used as a sacrifice to Stillstorm. Things were much simpler during that era than they are now. Stillstorm truly gave out blessings when worshiped. That means that this item holds a bit of Stillstorm’s power. If you can comprehend it, you will definitely be able to learn something," Wilderness God explained as he stared at the stone ball with an expression of longing.

In the current era, people sought out the Three Realms and Six Daos, as well as the Origin Progenitor. In the same manner, the astral beasts of Wilderness God’s era had pursued Stillstorm.

Such longing originated from faith. It was no different from how a devoted worshiper would feel if they were finally able to see their deity in person after a lifetime of dedication.

Lu Yin was not particularly interested in Stillstorm. For the moment, his only interest was finding True God.

Mister Mu was currently suppressing the sequence strings on behalf of the Origin Progenitor, which made this the perfect time for the Origin Progenitor to take action.

Tai Chu had the same thought.

"Certain things need to be settled," the Origin Progenitor said with a sigh. "I once had the chance to kill Yong Heng, but I failed to act. I held back due to him being one of the original humans, even if he was different from us."

The Origin Progenitor continued, "During those days, when we were suppressed by astral beasts, there were deep feelings between the people we walked with.

"Unfortunately, those feelings are gone forever."

Lu Yin was unconcerned with the Origin Progenitor’s sentimentality, and instead, he immediately contacted Progenitor Chen.

A few days later, in an unknown parallel universe, Progenitor Chen pointed in a specific direction. "I can only vaguely sense Wang Miaomiao in that direction. As soon as I’m able to sense her more clearly, Yong Heng will have already felt me, and I won't be able to catch up to them."

Lu Yin looked over. "This is enough, Senior. Please move away a bit so that we don’t let Yong Heng sense you."

Progenitor Chen asked, "Can this really pull Yong Heng and the others over?"

Lu Yin nodded. Seeing that Progenitor Chen wanted to say something, but hesitated, Lu Yin smiled. "Don’t worry. We still don’t know whether Wang Xiaoyu is a traitor for sure. Her situation is unique, so we will show her mercy."

Progenitor Chen expressed his gratitude, "Thank you."

With that, he left the universe.

Once Progenitor Chen was gone, Lu Yin was alone in the universe. He removed the stone ball from his cosmic ring.

As soon as it was brought out, far away, in another parallel universe, Skydog raised his head and let out an excited howl that startled Yan Gang.

True God, Forgotten Ruins God, and everyone else stared at the dog.

Typically, unless there was a battle, Skydog did not make much noise. This time, he seemed to be extremely excited. It had been years since True God had seen the beast so excited.

"Stillstorm’s aura?" True God asked in surprise.

Skydog barked a few more times.

Blackless God, Forgotten Ruins God, and everyone else felt confused. They had never heard of Stillstorm before.

Hearing the name “Stillstorm” sent True God back to an ancient era, when humanity had only just appeared. Even then, Stillstorm had already been a mythical figure. In the eras since then, even the myths had disappeared.

Stillstorm was a symbol of faith for the astral beasts. They were regarded as a genuine god, which far exceeded anything Wilderness God could measure up to.

The truth was that no one knew Stillstorm’s true level of strength, not even the Origin Progenitor or True God. However, based on the power of the astral beasts during that primordial era, Stillstorm had to have at least been a Dukkhan. If the creature were still alive, it was very possible that Stillstorm could have achieved Immortality, though that seemed impossible.

Stillstorm had left behind a legend that had lingered in the megaverse, which meant that the megaverse had not been reset.

Without resetting a megaverse, even if one did successfully overcome Dukkha, how could they achieve Immortality? The chances of Stillstorm reaching that level seemed remote, as there should not be even a trace of any legends about them if they had succeeded.

Rather than saying that Stillstorm had disappeared, it was more accurate to say that they had died.

"Then go. I won’t go with you," True God stated. His eyes flashed as he looked at Skydog. "After all these years, there has been no hint of Stillstorm. But for something to suddenly appear now, you must be careful."

Skydog barked once and then excitedly raced away.

Forgotten Ruins God asked curiously, "Master, what is Stillstorm?"

True God gazed at the retreating figure of the Skydog. "A creature of legend."

Forgotten Ruins God was taken aback. "Even for you, it’s just a legend?"

True God's voice grew somber. "Humanity is not that old."

Blackless God turned his head and stared off into space. Humanity’s history, huh? True, they haven’t been around for too long. Us conscients from the Consciousness Megaverse have been around for far longer than humanity.

Blackless God did not know how humanity had managed to achieve such heights so quickly.

Behind them, Verdant King was leading Yan Gang, following behind True God and the others. If not for Verdant King, Yan Gang would have been left far behind. He was just an average cultivator and could not keep up. He should have died long ago in an unknown universe.

Yan Gang glanced at Verdant King, feeling rather anxious. Yan Gang was the only one who knew that he did not control the Verdant Sage, and yet Verdant King still showed Yan Gang the utmost respect. Yan Gang understood that everything was just an act.

Verdant King was pretending to be under Yan Gang’s control so that he would be trusted by True God and the others. The truth was that Yan Gang was nothing more than a puppet.

He was a puppet who could not even speak up, as doing so would reveal that he had lost all usefulness.

Yan Gang wanted to improve his cultivation and grow stronger, but True God did not care about him, and neither did Forgotten Ruins God or Blackless God.

Yan Gang’s life was tied to Verdant King’s. The man regretted his situation, as well as the fact that he had refused to turn his Nest into the Heavens Sect and requested protection. He should have used that opportunity to deal with the people who had been trying to win Lu Yin’s favor by persecuting Yan Gang, rather than focus on his hatred of Lu Yin.

Yan Gang was simply insignificant, to the point where he did not even qualify to seek revenge against Lu Yin.

Skydog tore through the void and quickly arrived in the parallel universe where Lu Yin was waiting.

Lu Yin had hidden himself far away from the stone ball while waiting for Skydog to arrive.

When Skydog appeared, he was alone.

Lu Yin frowned. True God was too cautious. Skydog had arrived on his own, so even if he was ambushed and killed, it would not matter. The stone ball had successfully drawn Skydog out, but not True God.

"It appears that this attempt has failed," the Origin Progenitor commented.

Lu Yin gave a small smile. "No, it’s a success."

The Origin Progenitor was taken aback.

Skydog had successfully found the stone ball, and he proceeded to excitedly push it back towards True God and the others. The dog acted as excited as if he had found his long-lost master.
