Chapter 3367: Backlash

Lu Yuan slammed a hand down, casually tossing a Hidden Needle through Bao Qi’s silent power. The attack was aimed straight at the man.

Bao Qi grinned as he caused the power of his Cauldron Bell to concentrate and the silent power’s strength to surge even further. It seemed as though an endless sea of sequence particles had appeared. Up above, an even larger Cauldron Bell appeared, and it rang with a deafening toll.

At that moment, Lu Yin, Progenitor Chen, and Progenitor Ku all entered the Mirari Realm at nearly the same moment.

At that moment, everyone saw the massive Cauldron Bell.

Progenitor Chen and Progenitor Ku attacked as one. While neither had broken through to the Origin realm yet, they already possessed unmatched power. They had been the defining experts of their era.

One man attacked with his Linked Palm, which gave him the ability to fight against anyone, no matter how powerful his enemy might be. The other used Extremes Must Be Reversed, which rendered him nearly immortal.

Facing these two Progenitors was no easier than facing an Ortuser.

Lu Yin turned, ready to confront True God. His inner universe spread out across the Mirari Realm, dispersing sequence particles from both the Impression Realm and the Cauldron Bell. At the same time, Lu Yin’s body withered even as it was shrouded with a purplish-black substance. He held a dirt spear as black and white energy swirled around him as a powerful aura swept out. At this moment, Lu Yin had released his full potential.

The Mirari Realm faded away from the Quietude Universe.

True God, as well as Forgotten Ruins God, Wang Xiaoyu, and Blackless God, moved closer to the Mirari Realm, with Mister Mu following them from a distance.

Lu Yin hefted his spear, pointing it at the distant form of True God.

True God met Lu Yin’s eyes before stepping into the Mirari Realm. At the same moment, Forgotten Ruins God pointed a finger, destroying a lantern behind True God that had Lu Yin’s name on it. Forgotten Ruins God had already used her Natural Art.

Lu Yin felt an unseen power attempting to tear him apart. It felt somewhat similar to when Wei Nu had cut a paper cutout, though still a bit different.

With her paper cutouts, Wei Nu was attempting to reverse the flow of the River of Aeons, which created waves in the river.

In contrast, the Natural Art affected a person’s emotions through their memories, severing their desires, wishes, and intentions.

When Forgotten Ruins God destroyed the lantern, everything that the person whose name was on the lantern had ever wanted, hoped, or wished for would become a contradiction.

Lu Yin spat out a mouthful of blood. As that happened, Blackless God’s eyes moved, and black lines shot towards Lu Yin.

True God tapped his sword again, and more sword images flew out, each of which represented a moment in time.

Lu Yin’s head suddenly snapped up, and he tightly clenched the shaft of his spear while thrusting it at True God. The spear shattered the sword images before it while Lu Yin also moved forward with Inverse Step. He threw out a palm strike that absorbed everything nearby. Each absorbed power or attack merged with the attack, strengthening the Linked Palm.

Forgotten Ruins God was startled when she saw that Lu Yin was uninjured. How was that possible? Was he immune to the Natural Art?

The spear continued to fly towards True God, shattering all of the sword images without even slowing. Beside True God, Forgotten Ruins God tried to block the attack with her Forgotten Ruins, but the spear pierced through that technique as well. This attack contained all of Lu Yin’s physical might, and his spear was formed from the dirt of Dust World. ⱤἈ₦ỖʙĘ𐌔

Suddenly, True God moved back. He took a step to either retreat to avoid the spear, and by doing so, exited the Mirari Realm.

Mister Mu arrived at that moment, and he spun his wooden flute around and pointed it forward.

Skydog suddenly appeared between True God and Mister Mu and was struck by the flute. The beast let out a wail as Skydog’s body was nearly pierced through and viciously flung back at True God.

Wang Xiaoyu caught the dog, but the beast’s momentum injured her.

True God glanced at Mister Mu before turning and leaving.

Forgotten Ruins God grabbed hold of Wang Xiaoyu and dragged Skydog along, though not before waving goodbye to Lu Yin.

True God’s decisive retreat was extremely unexpected for Lu Yin. Did True God no longer care about the Mirari Realm?

Blackless God also tried to retreat, and Lu Yin instinctively restrained himself. Blackless God was intended to be a gift for True God, and it would be a waste if he killed the man in the Mirari Realm.

Right then, the Mirari Realm vanished from the Quietude Universe.

Blackless God looked up at the sky of the Mirari Realm, no longer seeing the Quietude Universe. The sight caused his heart to drop, as he now knew that he was trapped in the Mirari Realm.

Lu Yin looked over at Blackless God, who also turned to look at Lu Yin.

Both stopped fighting.

Blackless God wanted to escape, and Lu Yin wanted the man to succeed in doing so, though he could not make that too obvious. Blackless God did not know that he was being manipulated, and if things became too obvious, he would likely grow suspicious.

In the past, when Sovereign Shao Yin had been manipulated by the Great Sovereign, an entire war had been orchestrated to ensure that the man would not grow suspicious. Senior Brother Mu Ke had cooperated with several others to push Shao Yin closer to the black Mother Tree. However, Shao Yin had still noticed when he was only halfway to his destination. If Hui Wu had not intervened, the plan might have failed.

If Blackless God realized that he was being manipulated, then even if Lu Yin’s plans remained intact, his gift would be useless against True God.

Blackless God wanted to escape, but he believed that doing so would be far from easy.

Lu Yin wanted Blackless God to escape, but he could not reveal that desire.

This led to an odd standoff, with both men momentarily frozen and staring at each other.

“No one will escape!” roared the ancestor of the super giants as he reached out to grab Blackless God.

Lu Yin was left speechless. Why did he have to interfere?

Blackless God’s expression fell. As he had expected, escape would not be easy.

His eyes darted about, and black lines shot through the air, creating a strange prison around Lu Yin that was filled with black flames.

At the same time, more black lines spread out across the Mirari Realm, reaching for the super giant’s arm.

This was an innate gift, not sequence particles.

The super giant snorted and clenched his fist, using brute strength to shatter the black lines. But right as he readied himself to attack again, he found himself immobilized. Once again, he had been caught in the Impression Realm.

Far away, the Seraph was using the Impression Realm to restrain the super giant, while also keeping his golden pen focused on Chu Yi.

Bao Qi struck the Cauldron Bell, which caused the entire Mirari Realm to churn.

It was not impossible to leave the Mirari Realm; all one had to do was tear through the void. However, most of the people present were unwilling to leave. The Mirari Realm was something that the Spirit Nidus had sought for countless years. It was a place where they could finally study the power of time.

Without access to the River of Aeons, their mastery over the power of time would be capped and extremely limited.

This was an area in which the Spirit Nidus was severely lacking.

It could be said that the Origin Progenitor and the others had pushed things too far, which had stoked the Spirit Nidus’s desire for the Mirari Realm and the River of Aeons to the peak.

Lu Yin grabbed at the strange prison that surrounded him and tore it apart. “Senior, Blackless God is yours.”

He then moved towards Bao Qi.

If Lu Yin joined the attack on Blackless God, there would be no chance for the Skygod to survive.

While the super giant was an Ortuser and capable of overpowering Blackless God, Lu Yin had not forgotten that Blackless God was actually one of the Consciousness Megaverse’s conscients. He possessed a Celestial-level consciousness, which made Blackless God equal to an Ortuser. In a true life-or-death struggle, the ancestor of the super giants might not be able to handle Blackless God.

The giant’s strength was too simple and focused, which did not grant him any advantages against Blackless God.

Lu Yin shot towards Bao Qi, only to be met by a wave of silent power.

Bao Qi had cultivated the Law of Sound, merging it with both the innate gift of Mimicry that he had obtained from his Spirit Transformation and the Cauldron Bell sequence base. Together, the various elements had granted the man the strength to become a Seraph.

He was the only Seraph to have achieved the title without first becoming a Dukkhan. During the battle at the Tianyuan Megaverse’s boundary, Bao Qi had been invincible. If not for Shao Chen forcing the man to enter Dukkha with his mortal world, the battle at the boundary would have ended very differently.

After becoming a Dukkhan, Bao Qi’s personality had changed drastically. He had lost his former arrogance and become far more reserved and introverted.

While the Seraph’s strength had not risen, this sudden change in personality made many people uneasy.

Fortunately, for the time being, the change was beneficial to the Tianyuan Megaverse. Essentially, a Seraph had been removed from the war.

However, that was only under normal circumstances. When besieged by a powerful opponent, no change of personality would be enough to make Bao Qi to embrace death.

At this moment, Bao Qi unleashed a terrifying power with his Cauldron Bell. The silent power spread out, the inky darkness dimming the entire Mirari Realm. The temporal mist was forced back as the Cauldron Bell transformed Bao Qi’s sound into a peerless killing power that spread out in all directions.

Lu Yin raised his earthen spear and thrust it forward, only for each strike to be shattered by the silent power.

He threw out a full force punch, but not even that was able to break through the silent power that darkened the sky.

A fierce grin warped Bao Qi’s mouth, and his eyes turned cold and savage. His Dukkha was constantly suppressing his true nature, but the heat of the battle was causing it to gradually break free. If the man’s true nature was fully revealed, he might regress back to the Ortuser realm, barred from ever again attempting to overcome Dukkha or achieve Immortality. It would be the same fate as Meng Sang.

However, even as an Ortuser, Bao Qi had already been a terrifyingly powerful Seraph.

With the Cauldron Bell, Bao Qi spread the silent power out, making himself impervious to attacks and gaining an unbeatable position.

The round-faced old man was also protected by the silent power.

The old man had frequently been grateful that Bao Qi was part of the invasion force to defeat the Tianyuan Megaverse. While sound might seem like an ordinary power, when fully unleashed, it could be utterly terrifying. This was also why the Spirit Nidus had been so determined to create the Cauldron Bell.

For countless years, no one had been able to use that particular sequence base, and yet it had stayed as one of their ten official sequence bases. This was why.

Lu Yin looked at the two Seraphs who were being protected by the silent power. While focusing on them, he waved a hand and used the Setting Sun.

As the sun descended past the horizon, the rays spread across the sky!

All knowledge of martial arts burned.

“A comprehension technique! Be careful!” the old man warned as his golden pen rose into the air.

The Seraph was intensely focused on his golden pen. It was his Dukkha.

The Setting Sun was able to burn away a person’s martial arts, consuming everything that they had gained from cultivation. Dukkha, however, was the exact opposite; it was the culmination of one’s path from the moment they started cultivating. It was all they had ever experienced, all they were attached to—that was a person’s Dukkha.

The old man had used his Dukkha to counter Lu Yin’s Setting Sun. Not only did this nullify the technique, but the light of the setting sun was reflected back to Lu Yin, creating a backlash.

Lu Yin spat out blood as he stared at the old man in shock.

The Seraph chuckled, a broad smile on his round face. "Young man, do you have any idea just how long I’ve been cultivating for? Do you really believe that you can erase my path with just one comprehension technique? You are underestimating Dukkhans."

Lu Yin wiped the blood from his mouth. He had indeed underestimated the old monsters.

Setting Sun had worked flawlessly against Palace Master Yao, but it had failed against the old man. This demonstrated the strength of those who were overcoming Dukkha.

Lu Yin considered himself nearly unmatched in the Tianyuan Megaverse, and he believed that very few individuals could surpass the current him. He had forgotten that the two Seraphs were also Dukkhans, which should mean that they were both stronger than him as well.

Bao Qi opened his mouth as he faced Lu Yin, and the silent power took on the shape of a blade that slashed at the young man.

Lu Yuan moved in front of Lu Yin, shattering the silent blade. "Little Seven, are you alright?"

Lu Yin shook his head. “I underestimated them.”

Lu Yuan chuckled. "That's actually a good thing. That old man simply reflected your own attack back at you, which wasn’t anything too serious. Treat it as a reminder. After all, it isn’t easy to become a Dukkhan, and your comprehension techniques aren’t invincible."

Lu Yin stared at Lu Yuan’s back. "Ancestor, you can also ignore my Setting Sun, can’t you?"

Lu Yuan nodded. “Yes, I can.”

Lu Yin exhaled. “Comprehension techniques work incredibly well against Ortusers, and that caused me to forget that there’s still a gap between me and Dukkhans. However, my Setting Sun can be further strengthened.”

“Haha, of course! Comprehension techniques focus on the power of one’s intent, not their cultivation,” Lu Yuan said. “The stronger your intent and the deeper your understanding of the technique is, the more powerful it will become.”

Lu Yin looked back over at the round-faced old man and Bao Qi. The two Seraphs were unwilling to abandon the Mirari Realm, but neither were Lu Yin and his companions.

Just what was Wei Nu planning?
