Reincarnated With A Glitched System: Why Is My MP Not Running Out?
Chapter 1607 1607: Mother And Daughter Aren't Too Different—–
Aquarina’s parents walked through the dungeon’s entrance, noticing the intricate paintings left behind in the walls and ceiling, how the blue stones were shaped into many forms, and also the statues most of them destroyed, depicting ancient beings that resembled sea snails.
“So from what our daughter said, this is supposed to be some sort of ancient civilization ruins,” Shade explained. “These sea snail people probably lived millions of years ago though, as it is shown they lived in the depths of the ocean, meaning that the desert was once a sea. For a sea to become a desert, millions of years have to pass.”
“That long? Maybe it didn’t last that long though, perhaps a few thousand years?” Asked Nepheline. “And where did you take it takes that long?”
“Just basic understanding of climate change and tectonic plate movement…” Explained Shade. “It’s related with the study of the elements and the world itself. In he Elven Kingdom capital all these things are studied extensively, did you know?”
“Huh… I thought they were all about just magic, magic, and magic…” Nepheline said, as she looked around, slowly advancing with her husband.
“Not exactly, I mean yeah kind of,” Shade said. “Even this investigation is because they want to understand how magic can affect the environment and the climate in the long run. One of the things they always wonder is that despite how there are people out there capable of changing the climate or moving the oceans or spreading nature everywhere, the zones of the world still remain mostly the same, only changing over very long periods of time.”
“…You mean it’s impossible for people to terraform the world forcefully using magic, because ultimately it all goes back to how it was before?” Nepheline asked. “Well yeah, I know that.”
“Yes, exactly,” Shade nodded. “The reason behind this… It has been speculated that it has to do with the planet’s own “internal magic cycle”, that is constantly reinforcing certain elements to prosper more than others within certain areas of the world. The flow of natural spirits of the world for example, is also one of them. This is also the reason why the Saintess of the Spirits is so crucial to the world and its future. If she is trained well, Lara could have… the incredible power of changing the world’s Magic Climate Change permanently by controlling the spirits that change things and reinforce the elements.”
“Uh-huh,” Nepheline nodded while listening to her husband.
Just like her, Shade also had his… quirky side. Although he was a man of few words most of the time, when it came to talking about things such as the climate, science, and investigations, he would go on and on for hours about everything.
Nepheline had learned to just nod and listen while he talked, she didn’t really want to tell him he was boring or something, as she sometimes learned some useful information from what he said.
And well, she loved him and liked it when he talked a lot, which was a rare treat. She considered his voice very beautiful and manly; it was simply good for the ears.
This was also one of the reasons why Aquarina only liked her father reading her bedtime stories when she was younger, his voice is very soothing.
“Okay so you mean that the world… Okay I get it,” Nepheline nodded, she wasn’t going to repeat everything he said anyway. “Well, anyway. That means that these ruins are old and very ancient. Probably some sort of cycle happened that turned these oceans into a desert, right?”
“Most likely tectonic plates moving…” Said Shade. “And also the cycle of the past changing into the current one. Imagine droves of trillions- no, quadrillions of spirits moving from one place to another. The prehistoric world must have been a much wilder one now that I imagined.”
“Indeed,” Nepheline nodded. “Nothing so far though, our girl did a pretty good cleaning job here… huh? Not even a single damn monster.”
“I would rather prefer if there wasn’t any anyways, you shouldn’t overexert yourself with physical activity, Nepheline,” Shade said.
“Geez, I’ll be fine! Why are you always like this when I’m pregnant? I’ve told you already that Amazonian women don’t stop working and hunting even when pregnant! Perhaps other human tribes need rest and are more delicate, elves too, but we are fine,” Nepheline shrugged. “I had a friend that had triplets, her belly all swollen, and she still hunted big game every day! And then the kids were born healthy and strong.”
“I know, but I can’t help but worry a bit,” Shade smiled lightly, looking at the floor.
“Aw… I know,” Nepheline walked to his side, rubbing Smilkas away from him.
“Eek! I was about to get sleepy!” Smilkas slowly opened her eyes as she began floating and then exploring the dungeon. “Oooh!”
Quake and Crystallion were also mostly in silence, although they walked with one another through telepathy.
“Let’s get moving then, the faster we get this done the better,” Nepheline said.
“Alright,” Shade said. “But I’ll go on the front this time.”
“Fineee…” Nepheline laughed.
They moved forward through the corridors, finding empty rooms with a few treasure chests open, probably Aquarina’s party doing.
And then, ultimately, they reached the end of the corridor, a wide room with a stair leading down.
“Aquarina said there was a huge mimic monster here…” Shadde unsheathed his daggers. “Hah!”
He threw a dagger to the floor, as he struck through the ground.
CRAAASH!
An explosion of rubble erupted form the floor, as cracks spread everywhere… but there was nothing.
He did it again with the walls and the ceiling, but there was nothing.
“All clear I suppose… Let’s go down.”
They moved downstairs, reaching the second floor…
This time, there were things awaiting them, several dozens of huge lobsters.
“Oooh! The delicious lobsters that Aquarina and her friends brought!” Nepheline gasped. “Nice! This’ll be a good warmup!”
“W-Wait a second Nepheline!” Shade was a worrywart, but Nepheline charged forward.
“HAAAH!”
With a ferocious roar, the Hero of the Stone Hammer used her bare fists as hammers themselves.
BAAAM!
With a huge explosive blow, the nearest lobster was blown away, hitting the ceiling and then falling back onto the floor, dead.
“Alright! Who’s next?!”
“…”
Shade sighed, despite how much Nepheline reprimanded Aquarina for being reckless, the mother wasn’t that different.
“As they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…”
