Regressor Instruction Manual

Chapter 1212. The Demon King of Sunset’s Castle, the Final Story (5)

Chapter 1212. The Demon King of Sunset’s Castle, the Final Story (5)

The thought that abruptly came to me lingered in my mind.

‘I have to go back.’

It was like an obsession—no, it felt more like a binding or a curse. I was already aware that the thought wasn’t logical or wise. There was no valid or logical reason for why I had to return to that hellish place.

However, my desire to go back to that place felt absolute.

‘I have to go back. I have to go back. To the place where everyone is waiting for me.’

At this point, I kept repeating the same thing like a parrot, as if I were casting a spell. I immediately got up without realizing it and then sat back down.

It was because I knew that moving now wouldn’t be helpful.

Completing my contract with Lee Ki-Young was the most urgent task, and even if my goal had changed, the task that needed to be done remained the same. In any case, clearing the Demon King’s Castle was the top priority.

Everything else would come afterward.

Naturally, I thought about Woo Hyo-Yeol and William. In fact, those two were the most important cards and had the most important roles in this event. The direction of this event depended on how those two handled things and how far they could go. By now, they were probably fighting the Queen of Succubi or the Gatekeeper of the Dark Shield.

‘The battle won’t last long.’

Kim Ye-Ri and Park Deok-Gu knew the importance of time. Since Kim Hyun-Sung had injured them, the raid would probably be pretty short. I was confident that, somehow, we would clear this dungeon. The stats earned through the raid were important, but the experience points they would obtain as a bonus were really important, so it would probably feel like a training session.

William was capable of piercing the armor of the Blood-Crazed Holy Knight and the Gatekeeper of the Dark Shield. Woo Hyo-Yeol was fast enough to chase after the Queen of Succubi—no, he at least needed to know how to fight against someone who was faster than he was.

Since I could give commands during battle, I was internally debating whether they really needed those experience points, but having bought some time, it seemed logical to take everything they could.

‘I wonder how things are going.’

They executed things much faster than I thought. I didn’t have my telescope, and Jung Ha-Yan seemed too busy to set up Anemone’s Eye, but I was already connected to Woo Hyo-Yeol.

‘I wonder if William can handle them.’

I couldn't see why not. I was managing a fake private server, so I didn't need as many features and complex functions as the official one.

‘I won’t be able to call it the Regressor Instruction Manual...’

It wasn’t Mythic, and it wasn't extravagant. It wasn't soul-bound, and everything couldn't be shared like what was made for Kim Hyun-Sung.

As long as I could communicate with him one-way and see what was happening, I wouldn't need a two-way communication between us. Getting to feel his five senses was obviously a luxury, but if possible, I’d at least like to be able to have the sense of touch.

‘Skills can be improved.’

The skills embedded in Lee Ki-Young’s body were likely the upgraded versions of what was in me. The Regressor Instruction Manual, the Telescope, and the Mythic alchemy skills were all unique traits imprinted on Lee Ki-Young's soul rather than his body, so it was impossible to implant them into me.

Anything Mythic and Semi-Mythic was capable of disrupting the continent’s order, so deploying them required the system’s approval, but everything else could be bypassed pretty easily.

Just like whenever GENIUSES made a skill or a job, I was sure he knew what I was talking about.

“That’s why I need it...” I mumbled.

“...”

“Let’s make another deal. I have a lot of coins,” I suggested.

[The Boy Adorned With Earrings of Truth says that he wants to become your GENIUS.]

[Would you like to change your GENIUS?]

“Yes,” I answered.

[Level 6 Mimic is now unlocked.]

Unlike the time when I chose the Goddess of Flower and Fertility to become a GENIUS, there weren’t any flashy visual effects. The holy power coursing through me was disappearing, but at this point, my skills as the Saint of Flower and Fertility were useless.

I couldn’t say that this was any better, but I saw a massive chessboard before me.

[Your unique skill, Chess Game, is active.]

‘Don’t give me things like this...’

The first thing I saw was the horses closest to me. I grabbed a rook, and—

"Ahhhhhhh!"

"Hohohohohoho! Do you really think such an attack would work against this enchanting Eryel? Not any time soon."

—I was connected to Woo Hyo-Yeol temporarily.

‘Not bad.’

The method was kind of different, but at least I got what I wanted.

One of the horses belonged to Woo Hyo-Yeol, and the other belonged to William. I placed Woo Hyo-Yeol’s piece back to its original spot, and the moment I lifted William’s horse, I heard a different voice and saw a different environment.

The chessboard looked like a direct replica of the battlefield. Although it was made of black and white squares, it felt like a scaled-down, flat version of the battlefield where William, the Flower and Fertility Familia, Park Deok-Gu, and Ahn Ki-Mo were engaged in battle.

I wasn’t used to it yet, but I was sure that I’d get used to this board soon enough.

The Gatekeeper of the Dark Shield was blocking spells and other ranged attacks like they were nothing, and the Blood-Crazed Holy Knight was swinging his sword while supporting the Gatekeeper of the Dark Shield.

Since they were always together, their teamwork was perfect. Ahn Ki-Mo was using the massive wall he was given so well that it was almost annoying. He blocked or deflected attacks he could handle himself and left the ones he couldn’t handle to Park Deok-Gu.

"It’s sweet. Your blood! It’s so sweet!"

It would be easier to watch if he refrained from saying such lines.

"Ahhh!"

"Damn it..."

"What are you doing? You must deal with us first!"

"Keugh... hahahaha! Gahahahahahaha! Hahahahahaha!"

Could it be that he still couldn't abandon his character despite this desperate situation? At this point, I had no choice but to feel worried about their mental state, but they were fighting desperately in their own way.

They knew that they had to stay committed to their roles, but the problem was that role itself.

"Yaaaaaah!"

Whenever the Blood-Crazed Holy Knight swung his sword, William would block them.

William and Woo Hyo-Yeol’s teamwork wasn’t bad as well, but the Gatekeeper of the Dark Shield’s shout had a debuff on it. It slowed them down and weakened them.

They’re using the typical slow-kill strategy, which at least proved that they understood the current situation. The longer this dragged out, the more favorable the situation would become for them.

William and the Flower and Fertility Familia knew that as well.

They knew that they would be defeated if they were to refuse to roll the dice.

‘It won’t be easy.’

Was his brain not working anymore?

"Blood! More blood! Turn this place into a bloody festival!"

"Don’t act rashly, holy knight. Their eyes... are still filled with determination."

"Keke. Kekekeke. I think you’re acting a little too worried. Why are you so scared of those mortals... they’re nothing but lowly insects."

"They got this far, after all."

"They just got lucky. If that’s not the case, then the others here are just incompetent. Keke. Ahh... ahhhh! How long has it been since I had fresh blood?! Be afraid! Fear me even more! It’ll make your blood even sweeter!"

‘Ah, I really can’t watch Ahn Ki-Mo.’

Of course, the others weren't any better.

"Hohohoho! Will you be able to resist my seductive dance?"

"..."

"How can you even think about fighting after seeing my beauty?"

"..."

"Hmm... I thought this was going to be somewhat entertaining... but I’m pretty disappointed. So this is all there is to it. How are you even going to face the Monarch of Sunset... I feel like a fool for having placed even a little hope in you."

"Get out right now."

"Pardon? freē.com

"I don’t have time to play around. Get out of my sight this instant, and I’ll let you live."

"Hohohoho! I have to admit, your bluffing is impressive. Despite my injuries, you never really gained the upper hand against me? You're going to spare Eryel, the Queen of Succubi and the Mistress of Seduction? Don’t make me laugh! You dirty pests! Be thankful that I haven’t snapped your neck yet!"

"I told you to scram!" Woo Hyo-Yeol roared and charged at her.

It would be nice if he put pressure on her gradually, so that he wouldn’t look like a fool for the things he said earlier, but it was difficult to do that.

Eryel's attack patterns were tricky.

I wasn’t sure if she could actually mesmerize people, but Woo Hyo-Yeol’s party seemed to be thinking that they had to avoid looking at her. She was a speedy opponent, so the fact that they couldn't stare at her for too long made it impossible for them to carry out the raid properly.

‘I wonder if they’ll be okay.’

'Do you think you stand a chance against Kim Hyun-Sung?'

I gave them the benefit of the doubt by saying that they couldn't really focus on the fight.

I could easily tell that William and Woo Hyo-Yeol’s minds were elsewhere. Woo Hyo-Yeol was especially obvious. To fight properly, he had to focus on the opponent before him, but he was already trying to chase after Kim Hyun-Sung.

He was visualizing Kim Hyun-Sung in front of him.

‘That idiot. You’re being too hasty.’

He ignored the manual and went all-out with a powerful skill, so of course, this wasn’t going to be a proper battle. He wasn’t even coordinating with his party members.

‘Nothing changed.’

He would be able to carry out the battle pretty easily if he were to give them some basic orders.. No Dam-Hye, Lim Chae-Ryeong, and Nam Goong-Seon had pretty good stats. They were qualified as members of his rearguard.

Nam Goong-Seon looked like she was trying to keep up with Woo Hyo-Yeol, but it wasn’t enough. At this point, it was clear that he had the habit of charging in like a lone warrior.

In William’s case, he was being consumed by his anxiety. He was unable to cast off his nervousness, tension, and fear.

'He hasn't changed at all.’

What was the point of his five hundred deaths? He overcame his fear of death, so what was he so scared of that he was acting like a fool?

‘Looks like I need to step in, damn it.’

“What the hell did you guys even learn?” I said, grabbing a horse piece.

"Lee Ki-Young?"

"M-Mr. Ki-Young?"

“So... what exactly did you guys learn?” I asked.

"Where... are you right now?"

"Are you okay? Mr. Lee Ki-Young?"

Of course, I’m not okay. Unfortunately, the premise was that I was already dead.

I was sending them a message... through the remnants of my soul.

“Focus on the opponent. Let’s recall everything step by step,” I instructed.

My overly spirited tone and voice were proof of that.

"Tch... arrogant fool."

"Okay, Mr. Lee Ki-Young."

Oblivious to the painful truth that they would soon face, they grinned, unable to suppress their joy.
