Gary knew Saiber had a disliking for him, but the truth was it wasn’t just him, all of the Altered Hunters did.
Blackjack had already warned them of this fact. Because he was an apprentice being brought along on a very important mission. Which was why he had been given the nickname rookie.
They thought there were others that deserved to go on this mission and feared Gary would get in their way. So they criticized every single action of his that fit the narrative they had built up in their head.
Asking questions, dropping the large crate before didn’t help earlier either, and now this, it looked like he was just causing trouble.
Maybe another person in his position would have backed down, but people’s lives were at stake here, which was why he didn’t care what people thought of him.
“Don’t say another word,” Saiber declared. “I don’t want you mingling with the others. I was wrong to bring you on this mission, head downstairs with the crates and just stay out of everything.”
“You’re my responsibility now you’re on this mission, and I will forbid you to get in the way.”
The look in Saiber’s eyes, Gary could tell that he was serious.
‘It looks like I’ve run out of options, the only other thing I could do is try to attack the worker, but in front of everyone it’s not going to look good, and I’m not so sure he would transform.’
Reluctantly Gary had his head held down and decided to follow orders. There was one good piece of news that he had learned.
For some reason the Werewolves weren’t revealing themselves. They weren’t striking now, so he still had some time to do something.
Leaving most of the hunters upstairs, Gary walked down to the bottom floor of the ship. He could still see the crates tied up in the middle untouched.
A mixture of workers and Altered Hunters were on this floor as well, although there were far less of them.
‘Yeah, even the workers down here are the same as above. Did they know about the Altered Hunters plan beforehand? Or is someone working with Lupus maybe, none of the Altered Hunters were Werewolves at least not that I could spot,’ Gary thought.
He left things be and wondered how long the trip on the boat would be. It was moving rather slowly, and he couldn’t see the Garden in sight.
He thought about asking one of the other hunters but none of them wanted to speak to him. Word had seemingly gotten around about what he wanted to do.
‘This whole situation is just frustrating… If I was to reveal myself, and just say I’m on their side, would the Altered Hunters really attack me?’ Gary wondered.
In the end nature called, and he headed to the toilet, which was around the front of the ship just to the side through a door. He locked it behind him as he continued this thought while doing his business.
‘After all, it worked with Blake right? He was cool with it all, but I guess not everyone is like Blake,’ Gary thought.
His sensitive ears in that moment had picked up something, that the lock was forcefully broke behind the door.
“Thankfully, I had just finished!” Gary said as he moved his head to the side.
The door had been forced wide open, and a fist was thrown out and had hit a part of the wall right in front of him, it made a relatively loud thud due to the strong impact.
On the above deck, there were quite a few people that had heard the noise.
“What was that?” A hunter asked.
“Don’t worry, you guys carry on, I’ll go check it out,” Saiber said.
Back in the toilet, when Gary turned to look at the man he could see it, it was one of the workers.
“So since I figured out what you guys were you decided to take me out first,” Gary said.
“You’re going to ruin our plan!” The worker said as he grabbed onto Gary’s shirt, and went to throw a punch out.
Immediately Gary had grabbed the fist, and held it tight, with a smile on his face.
“You thought, because I had no equipment on, that I was weak or you could get me by surprise?” Gary said, as he stared deep into the worker’s eyes, and for a moment they flickered red.
“Did you stop to think, why I would know that you’re not human.” Gary pulled the man’s arm and then grabbed the back of his head.
With his overwhelming strength he smashed the man’s head right into the kitchen sink. It broke and the worker’s face was bloody.
But this wouldn’t be enough to take out a Werewolf. Gary knew that, as the worker was ready to act even more, Gary grabbed the back of his neck, and then with the strength of his hand had crushed it.
Causing the worker to fall onto the ground and that was the end of him.
Gary was far stronger in stats, in everything compared to a regular Werewolf. Perhaps the worker thought he didn’t need to transform, but even if transformed, Gary could still beat him without having to transform himself.
‘He would have killed me if he had the chance,’ Gary said looking at the body. ‘The good thing is, I didn’t change, so my disguise is still intact.’
That thought didn’t last long, because running right at the side of the dock and looking into the toilet, Saiber had arrived.
“What…. what have you done!” Saiber shouted, his face turning red.
There was a problem, with the worker not having transformed, lying there on the ground was a dead body, one that looked completely human as well.
