My Celestial Ascension

Chapter 768 - 768: The Gods' Motives

“That’s precisely what I’m saying.” Vaedron nodded with a soft smile on his wrinkled face. “He must have used the methods of the ancient civilization to become so powerful. And if this is left unchecked, he will eventually become a threat to our authority.”

“And from what I can sense, that day isn’t far off. We must capture him and bring him here. His knowledge of the ancient civilization is far too important. We may never find another individual like him with access to that kind of power.”

“Indeed. He is far too valuable… we cannot risk losing him,” God King Elarion said, his voice calm, but the greed glimmering in his golden eyes betrayed his true thoughts. He wasn’t alone—every god in the chamber wore the same expression.

“We agree. He’s far too useful to simply dispose of. Let’s make him our eternal servant—a loyal hound to serve the gods,” said the God of Wind with a smug grin as he crossed his arms.

Then the God of Thunder scoffed arrogantly, “Shall we send a battalion of Battle Angels to seize him?”

“There’s no need for that,” Elarion responded sternly, narrowing his eyes. “We will dispatch a low-level god instead. It’s better to approach this with caution rather than arrogance. Just because he’s a mortal doesn’t mean he’s weak.”

“From what we’ve learned so far, he is the bearer of knowledge that even surpasses our own. We must not underestimate him.”

“I fully agree with His Highness,” the Goddess of Light and Justice added, nodding rapidly. “If he could slay two of my loyal angels, then we must proceed with utmost caution.”

The other gods in the divine gathering nodded as well, the weight of Vaedron’s theory settling heavily in their minds.

They understood the implications: the knowledge buried in the ruins of the ancient civilization could hold the key to unimaginable power. The floating island—High Heaven—still held many secrets. And now, a mortal, Yuan, had appeared who might possess the answers they had long sought.

Their ambitions extended beyond their divine dominion—they desired to rule every continent across the world, but most of all, they wanted to conquer the Demonic Continent.

For a thousand years, they had tried—and failed.

The warriors of the Demonic Continent were unlike any other. Their strength rivaled that of the gods, and time and time again, they had repelled every divine invasion. Even the summoned Heroes, armed with divine blessings and powerful artifacts, had failed to slay even a single demonic warrior.

But this time, they had a new strategy. This time, they would seize the lost knowledge of the ancients—knowledge that could finally tip the scales in their favor.

And that meant capturing Yuan.

Meanwhile, back in the Holy Light Empire, Yuan and his wives returned to the palace. Their bloodstained armor and weary faces told a silent story that sent chills through the hearts of all who saw them.

The members of the Imperial Family stood frozen, unable to hide their shock. Even the palace servants trembled at the sight of Yuan and his wives. They looked like victors returning from a hellish battlefield—untouchable, godlike.

Seeing their fearful stares, Yuan calmly turned to Emperor Lucien and said, “We’re going to clean ourselves. After that, we’ll talk.”

“As you wish…” Emperor Lucien replied, nodding solemnly. He understood there was much to be said, but now was not the time. Let them rest—before the storm resumes.

Once Yuan and his wives left, the members of the Imperial Family and the palace servants finally sighed in relief as the immense pressure vanished from the hall. They could finally breathe properly again.

“That was intense… I can’t even imagine how many people they must have killed on the battlefield. Thousands? Tens of thousands… I honestly don’t know.” Emperor Lucien muttered, his fingers still trembling unconsciously.

“There might be even more… but I don’t think it would be wise to ask them,” his wife said softly, a look of deep concern on her face.

Lucien nodded after a moment of thought. “Indeed. They’ve done far too much for us already—we have no right to question them.”

“Since they’ve fulfilled their side of the promise,” Princess Livia interjected, her tone firm and serious, “I believe it’s time we honor ours as well.”

“That would be for the best,” Lucien agreed, letting out a soft sigh. “After all, we don’t have much else of value left, except for those rare herbs gathering dust in the treasury.”

Meanwhile, Yuan and his wives emerged from the grand bathhouse, freshly cleaned and finally free of the blood and grime from battle. Outside the door stood Vanessa and Aisha, both with anxious expressions as they waited. Vanessa’s concern was especially intense—she had spent the entire time worrying about her son and grandson’s safety.

Valeria, noticing her mother’s emotional state, smiled softly as she stepped forward. Before Vanessa could ask a single question, Valeria gently reassured her, “You can rest easy now, Mom. That idiotic brother of mine is safe, and so is your grandson. They’re both fine—just a few minor scratches, nothing serious.”

Vanessa’s eyes widened for a moment, and then a wave of relief washed over her. A gentle, warm smile spread across her beautiful face. “It’s so good to hear that they’re safe… I was so worried. I’m so relieved now,” she said with a quiet sigh, the heaviness in her chest finally lifted.

“Are you all okay? Did any of you get hurt?” Aisha asked, stepping forward, her eyes scanning Yuan, Anna, Grace, and Lily with motherly concern.

Even though she knew how powerful they were, she hadn’t been able to eat or sleep properly. The thought of them on a battlefield kept her heart uneasy the entire time.

“You don’t need to worry about us, Aunt Aisha,” Yuan said with a confident smile that lit up his face. “We’re perfectly fine. There’s no one in this world who can hurt us.”

His smile was so warm and effortlessly charming that it made Aisha’s cheeks flush with a soft blush.

“I see… I’m just happy to see all of you return unharmed,” she replied gently, stepping forward and planting a soft kiss on Yuan’s cheek, her shy expression betraying how much she cared.

Anna and Grace raised their eyebrows at the sweet exchange, and despite themselves, they couldn’t help but smile inwardly. They both knew it wouldn’t be long before Aisha would become one of his women as well.

“Let’s go to our room and talk there. A lot has happened during the war. We should discuss everything in private,” Rose said with a very serious expression. She was visibly troubled—after all, she had never taken so many lives before.

The same could be said for Julie, Ava, and Leah. They all looked emotionally drained and mentally exhausted. They had killed more people than they could count.

Among those they had slain were also innocent individuals—men who had only fought because they were bound by duty as Holy Knights of the Holy Church. Even though they had chosen the enemy’s side, killing them still left a trace of discomfort in their hearts.

Shortly after, they arrived at their room and immediately sank onto the large bed. The war had taken a heavy toll on everyone. They had expended enormous amounts of Spiritual Energy, fending off tens of thousands of enemy soldiers on the battlefield.

Recovering their energy would take time. However, before letting them rest, Yuan needed to talk to them about some important matters.

Yuan himself wasn’t tired at all. His Spiritual Energy reserves were still full—he had only used a small portion during the battle. Most of the time, he had relied solely on his physical strength.

His body was incredibly powerful, and with reflexes that far surpassed normal cultivators, he had no need to rely on Spiritual Energy against mere mortals.

He spent the next couple of hours explaining everything that had happened during the war. His wives listened intently, and shock registered on their faces when he told them the Pope had received aid from angels who lived in the High Heaven.

They were even more surprised to learn that Yuan and his wives had captured one of those angels during the battle—and had brought her back to the palace with them.

None of them had ever met an angel before. They had only heard legends—stories about how the angels once aided the summoned Heroes a thousand years ago.

“So? Where is that angel now?” Aisha asked with a curious look on her face, raising one eyebrow slightly as she turned to Yuan.

“She’s currently cleaning herself in the bathroom. She should be here any minute now,” Lily replied before Yuan could speak.

“An angel, huh? Personally, I’ve never seen one before,” Aisha muttered, her voice low and laced with skepticism. “But I know about their existence… they serve those so-called gods.”

She continued, her tone colder now. “They’re going to be difficult to deal with—arrogant birds, always acting like they’re above everyone else. They call themselves perfect beings, superior to all races of this world.”

“They wouldn’t even bow before a mighty dragon,” Aisha added with a scoff. “They truly believe they possess the most flawless bloodline.”

“And despite all that, I killed one of them like I was fighting a toddler,” Yuan said flatly. His words were not arrogant—they were simply the truth.

His battle with the angel named ‘Valthariel’ had been effortless. He hadn’t needed to use his Qi, nor had he unleashed his Sword Aura.

“You’re really something else, little husband,” Vanessa chuckled softly as she pulled Yuan’s face into her embrace, gazing at him with a gentle and affectionate smile.

“If it weren’t for you, the Lionheart Empire would have lost the war. My idiot son and my grandson would have likely died on the battlefield… The entire empire might have been reduced to ashes.” Her voice was soft but laced with deep emotion.

“Thank you for saving the empire, Yuan. You’ve saved countless lives today.” She whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead.

“If you’re thinking of rewarding me for saving the empire, I won’t say no,” Yuan replied with a sly grin, his gaze sneaking toward Vanessa’s voluptuous figure with an unmistakably playful glint in his eyes.

Vanessa noticed the way he looked at her and blushed lightly, though a teasing smile quickly tugged at her lips. She knew him well by now—her little husband had a wicked streak and no shame when it came to his desires. And truthfully, she found his boldness both amusing and oddly charming.

The other women in the room shared knowing looks. Yuan was just too easy to read. As expected, his thoughts were already wandering in one obvious direction.

After all, he was a shameless flirt, always ready to make a move whenever an opportunity presented itself.

“Oh? And what kind of reward do you want from me? Do tell me, Little Husband. Fufu~” Vanessa asked playfully, her voice low and seductive, her gaze meeting his with equal parts curiosity and allure.

Yuan leaned in closer until their noses nearly touched, a mischievous glimmer in his eyes. Vanessa’s heart fluttered slightly as she waited to hear what bold remark would escape his lips this time.

“You could let me eat your pussy… it’s very tasty,” Yuan whispered into Vanessa’s ear, his voice so low that only she could hear him.

‘I figured as much… he’s definitely going to ask something perverted,’ Vanessa thought, rolling her eyes internally. A faint blush crept onto her cheeks as she looked away for a moment, feeling slightly embarrassed—but not displeased.

“Sure. But not in here…” she whispered back, her voice barely audible, carrying a shy but teasing note. Her eyes, soft and warm, glanced at the others resting nearby, clearly hinting at the obvious.

Without hesitation, Yuan stood up with a wide grin and gently scooped Vanessa into his arms like a princess. She let out a soft gasp, surprised at the sudden lift, but her smile never faded.

“Then let’s go find another room,” Yuan said with excitement in his voice. “There are plenty of unused rooms in this palace—we might as well put one to good use.”

Vanessa chuckled softly, wrapping her arms around his neck, her head resting lightly on his shoulder. The others simply watched them with amused expressions, already used to Yuan’s shameless ways.

“Don’t take too long,” Anna teased, waving them off with a tired smile. “We’re all exhausted and don’t want to hear any strange noises echoing down the halls.”

“No promises!” Yuan grinned back, carrying Vanessa out of the room as her soft laughter trailed behind them.
