MARTIAL PEAK

Chapter 6048, Retreat

Chapter 6048, Retreat

Author: Silavin

A Royal Lord, a being that fought on par with Ninth-Order Open Heaven Realm Masters. For Yang Ji and Yang Xu, there was already a huge chasm between them and Open Heaven Realm Masters, what more someone on par with those of the Ninth-Order!

Masters of this cultivation realm were the main pillars of every Sect. Even in High Heaven Palace, there were not many of them. Not even all their Mothers were in this Realm. From what the twins knew, only their Biological Mother, Su Yan, was in the Ninth-Order.

If someone were to ask them if they could ever compete with their Mother, they would absolutely say no. This was even with her going easy on them, and with them being able to apply Bloodline Suppression.

Right now, they had no way of dealing with a Royal Lord. Their only saving grace would be their mastery over the Dao of Space, but even that was not foolproof against such overwhelming force.

Certainly, at that level, breaking open the barriers of Space should be an easy feat. So, the twins were far from safe even if they hid out inside the Void.

As for Purifying Light, the result had already been shown earlier. Yang Xu had blasted the enemy with Ninth-Order Crystals but it was not enough to kill it. In fact, that blast was a lucky shot. If that Royal Lord had been more alert, and was not busy tearing open the Void Crack, it would not have been caught by that attack with its speed.

Aware of how grave the situation was, Yang Ji could never allow himself to let down his guard. The searing pain on his left arm just served to remind him of how he needed to stay on his toes.

He quickly pressed down his pressure points to stop the bleeding and looked towards the Void Crack with eagle-like eyes, narrowed as though he was trying to peer through it. He kept staring as he told Yang Xu, “We need to get out of here. We cannot afford to engage with that thing.”

Yang Xu nodded and started to manipulate Space Principles. She was trying to create a path for them to move through. Unfortunately, this was not like their world. Moving through the Void here felt like moving through Tar. It took quite some effort just to move a couple of metres.

Thankfully, judging from the more clustered Space Nodes here, these few metres would be hundreds of metres outside. It might be a small distance in comparison to their world, but here, it was still faster than if they flew.

Yang Xu continued to push through the Void, and Yang Xu followed behind with his back turned towards her. Naturally, this was for the sake of their own safety. After all, though the Royal Lord could break through the barriers of Space with their own strength, that did not mean they would be able to find them so easily.

Right now, the easiest way for the Royal Lord to go after them was to break open where the Void Crack was. Though sealed, how could Yang Ji’s seal possibly defend against a Royal Lord? Yang Ji just hoped what he did would slow it down, even a second would be great.

Time trickled by as seconds turned into minutes.

Eventually, Yang Ji and Yang Xu arrived at a nearby Space Node, and Yang Xu asked, “Should we take a peek at where we are? We are quite a distance away at this point.”

Yang Ji was a little hesitant. That was to be expected. After all, he did not know the capabilities of this Royal Lord. If they could hide out in the Void, that would be the safest. However, at this distance, they would have travelled outside of where their Divine Sense had covered.

Typically, at their cultivation realm, their Divine Sense would cover a massive area, far larger than they could teleport to. They would be able to identify Space Nodes from the outside, and use it as a guide to where they wanted to go.

But here, it was different. Their Divine Sense was also being restrained. So, they definitely could not sense too far a distance. At this point, if they continued forth in this strange viscous Void, they might really get lost. However, if they do tear open a Void Crack, they would be exposing themselves to the risk of getting detected. In that case, all the distance they had covered would be for naught.

Yang Xu naturally knew all of this beforehand, and asked him for a decision.

“Check it.” Yang Ji said with a sigh.

“En” Yang Xu nods and with a slash of her hand, *Cii*, a Void Crack was torn open. She knew the task – the moment she tore it open, she was going to close it back up again. For that brief breath that it was open, both were going to do a quick scan of the area.

Yang Xu did a quick grasp with her hand and the Void Crack was sealed once more.

Both heaved a sigh of relief that the Royal Lord was not around. Also, from the Space Nodes, they could tell that they were so far heading in the right direction. They strayed a little off course but it had not been too severe.

“That was clos-” Just as Yang Ji was about to complete his sentence, a *Piang* sound broke out.

It was from the very spot they had just opened a Void Crack at. When he looked towards the source, he could see something sharp penetrating through. He could not make out what it was as only five centimetres had been exposed. Nevertheless, he was not going to take the risk.

Yang Ji immediately took Yang Xu’s hand and they both desperately tried to push through the viscous Void to get away. Unfortunately, the harder they tried, the greater the Void resisted their advance.

*Clack* Another sound came, and this time, the seal on the Void Crack had been completely undone.

Yang Ji and Yang Xu felt their heart drop at that moment and their already frantic movement became even more panic-stricken.

A sigh soon broke out, “stop panicking. I’ve driven it away. So, come out.”

There, a familiar face appeared right at the Void Crack. Yang Ji and Yang Xu had never seen a face they wished so dearly to see, but at the same time, not look at. Mo Na Ye was not ugly by any means, just that his innocent smile was so sinister looking, the twins would rather not look at it.

The twins immediately took a deep breath to calm down and Yang Xu asked, “So, is it safe for us to go out now?”

“Relatively.” Mo Na Ye was not going to lie at this point. They were technically still in enemy territory. Furthermore, with how grand of a display the twins showcased earlier, it would not be surprising for them to face more enemies. Regardless, it was best for them to move together.

Yang Ji and Yang Xu both looked at each other and gave a nod. Yang Xu was the one to take the lead this time, and she went out first. Yang Ji soon followed suit and exited the Void Crack.

Like what they had sensed earlier, they were a distance away from where that gigantic monster was taken down. In fact, with their Divine Sense, they would barely detect it from this distance. As for their surroundings, it was a dull flat land, one which seemed to span infinitely. There were no trees, no nothing – desolation would be a fitting description for this place.

Mo Na Ye took out something hanging from his waist. It was the left hand that the Royal Lord had severed. Unprotected by Yang Ji, exposed to the elements, it had already turned pitched black, as if completely infested by Black Ink Strength.

Mo Na Ye apologised, “I failed to keep you two safe. For that, I apologise.”

He handed over the hand to Yang Ji, but instead of putting it back on, the boy stored it inside his Space Ring. He took a look, saw Mo Na Ye’s strange expression, and felt like he had to explain, “I’ve already stopped the bleeding. Even without a hand, it won’t affect anything. I’m not planning to fight with my fists. We are also out in the open right now. I can’t focus on recuperating at this point, right?”

Mo Na Ye relented, “You’re right. The situation here is far stranger than I thought. I did not expect to meet another Royal Lord here of all places. But, I do have to thank you two. Without that beam of Purifying Light, I would not have been able to get behind it and dealt a powerful blow, piercing through its torso.”

“So, is that Royal Lord dead?” Yang Xu asked, glad the enemy got bested. At least she had contributed in getting revenge for her Brother.

“Unfortunately, no. For those of the same cultivation realm, it is extremely hard for us to kill them. A battle for days might not even settle it. Still, with the injuries it had sustained, years of recuperation would be necessary. Right now, it would not pose much of a threat to us. But, this Royal Lord is certainly one I have never seen before.” Mo Na Ye worriedly said.

“We should return back to the frontlines while we can.” Mo Na Ye stated and used his Black Ink Strength to wrap around those two. Since they had already built up a resistance, the twins just felt like a cloth had wrapped around them – a cloth that pulled them into the air faster than the speed of sound.

They moved up so fast, so high, that the twins began being unable to sense where the ground was.

Unable to get what Mo Na Ye said out of her mind, Yang Xu asked, “You mentioned that the situation is strange. What’s so strange about it?”

Mo Na Ye’s eyes narrowed as he explained, “Royal Lords are beings the Holy Ones create. But, in this world devoid of everything, each one of us takes tens of thousands of years to create. Not even ten thousand years had passed since I was brought back to life so how is it that they have created another Royal Lord but not us?”

“And you’ve seen all their Royal Lords?” Yang Ji asked, a little sceptical.

“Of course. Except for if a Holy One intervenes, the only person that can deal with a Royal Lord, is another Royal Lord. So naturally I’ve seen the other two Royal Lords.” Mo Na Ye said with worry in his eyes. It was obvious that this matter was of vital importance.
