Having the assistance of the Crepuscule Clan and the Merck Clan— the merchant clan that Ruin took in—helped expedite all the remaining construction in the Blade Dancer Clan's new stronghold.
Calling it the Blade Dancer Clan's stronghold was no longer applicable since they were not just the Blade Dancer any more. However, Kyran never said anything about the name of their new force, so they could only call it the way they had.
In Kyran's defense, he did not consider having a name for their new force a top priority. In fact, even the plane where they built their stronghold remained 'unnamed.'
Nevertheless, Kyran might not be interested in naming their new force or the unnamed plane, but the others around him did not share the same sentiment.
With Zigor at the helm, he asked the other clan elders and house leaders to share their ideas.
Shiloh, who reported all activities of his clan to Kyran almost daily, informed the latter of Elder Zigor's activities. But Kyran never reacted much to it and told Shiloh to let him be. Experience tales at empire
To be fair, Shiloh shared the same sentiment as Elder Zigor since they could not possibly continue calling their stronghold's location, the unnamed plane, all the time. Furthermore, the new stronghold was built with the joint efforts of all the clans that allied themselves with Kyran, so the Blade Dancer Clan could not possibly use their clan name as its name. They might be the only clan staying there right at that moment, but Kyran confirmed that his family would be coming over soon.
While the Blade Dancer Clan, Crepuscule Clan, and the Merck Clan artisans and mages worked together in building the remaining constructions, Kyran went to the site where one of the last two portals that connected the Higher Realm to the unique space leading to the Tower of the Ancients.
The portal was no longer exposed, as the Blade Dancer Clan had already built an enclosure around it.
The enclosure was similar to a dome, with torches on the walls lit by fire spirit stones, serving as light. At the center was the portal, which gave off a faint purplish glow.Kyran could be seen holding a large pen, walking around the portal, and manually writing a massive array of formations on the ground. His condition had already improved over the past couple of days. Still, his ability to naturally absorb his surroundings' magic energies was so slow that creating the ingredients he needed for the formation's formulas took too much time.
Time was something that Kyran did not have at the moment, so he sorted all the items he had in store and asked Marigold's assistance in procuring some of the materials he did not have.
Fortunately, Marigold confirmed that the Crepuscule Treasure Vault was a saint-tier relic falling under the space storage category. In short, the vault was not destroyed when the Crepuscule Auction House fell. Thus, all those treasures were safe. Marigold also confirmed that the Crepuscule Clan Leader could conjure the vault's door anywhere as long as they willed it.
As for how the vault recognized the leader of the Crepuscule Clan, it had something to do with blood. Because Marigold had Estrid's blood, the vault recognized her, and she could enter it.
After hearing about it, Kyran asked Marigold if there was a way to change the vault's access. He did not tell her about Estrid's body being taken away by the One Who Caused The Fall, but just in case, Kyran wanted to prevent Estrid from accessing the vault if she ended up surviving the wounds she received from Lucian.
Marigold seemed to have guessed Kyran's concern even though he never said it and assured him she had already taken care of it.
Kyran only relaxed after confirming that and asked for the items he needed.
Marigold provided all the items he needed without asking questions.
That was how Kyran secured the materials he needed for the formation. After that, he went to the portal's site and immediately worked on it.
Ruin, who decided to stay, was also on-site. But he did not go into the enclosure and simply waited outside. He even appeared to be guarding Kyran as he worked on the formation.
Meanwhile, Cyneah mostly stayed on the ship. She continued monitoring True Void's condition, which did not seem to improve. Kyran checked on him before going to the portal's site. But since he was also not in his best condition, there was nothing much he could do.
Fortunately, after Kyran helped Cyneah connect with True Void to check on his condition the first time, she could now channel her magic energy to the latter, albeit limited. It was not visible, but she sensed it helped stabilize True Void's condition.
Back to the portal's site, Kyran paused momentarily before examining the formation on the ground. There were still a few formulas that he had to add, but overall, it was 85-90% complete.
'I have to finish this today,' he thought while turning his attention to the portal.
Kyran created the array formation to act as a catalyst to stabilize the portal. It also targeted the portal, using it as a medium to connect it to the one in the Dragon plane. Kyran could use it himself as long as he circulated his magic energy. However, if others wanted to pass through, they would only go to the special space leading to the Tower of the Ancients. The array formation ensured the portal would not automatically send the people who passed through it to that special space.
'One week... no six days...' he thought, thinking of the ongoing Inter-Clan Conference in the Palace of the King. 'After that conference, Lucian will gather his forces and attack the Dragon Clan.'
He thought of Ames and whoever went with her to the conference and could not help but frown.
'I hope they got my message...'
Kyran had not heard from Leif or Oceanus yet. And to be honest, he was not expecting to hear anything from them. This was because he expected Lucian to isolate all the leaders and representatives there, preventing them from sending a message to their clan.
He gave Ames one of his enhanced communication devices but did not consider it capable of bypassing whatever isolation array Lucian planted in the Palace of the King. As Zigor explained during their first meeting, the Palace of the King was the Higher Being's
Home
. The array formations on that plane could not easily be deciphered or bypassed by anyone. This was because it was created by the Ancients, as commissioned by the Higher Being before The Fall.
In fact, it was the King of the Ancients and the Four Great Minds who formulated the formation.
These days, no one would ever want to commission another clan to create their stronghold's array formation. But back then, The Realm was in harmony, and the Higher Being never had covetous thoughts.
Zigor said that everything changed when the Ancients declared they had found a way to produce the Ancient Magic Cores.
Kyran more or less knew what happened then. There were still some things that did not make sense to him, but that no longer mattered to him. At least, not at the moment. Because he wanted to focus on removing Lucian from the picture first.
Kyran could not put it into words, but he had an inkling that he would have a better look at the big picture only after Lucian was gone.
'Focus... let's focus for now and finish this formation,' he thought, heaving a deep sigh and turning his attention back to the formula he was currently writing.
And it was at that moment that he sensed something.
'Hm?'
With furrowed brows, Kyran straightened and observed his surroundings.
It was faint, but he sensed a familiar aura. However, he could not remember what it was.
Kyran glanced at the portal, which continued to emit a faint glow. After observing it for a moment, he confirmed that the faint aura was not coming from there. Instead, it was pretty close to him.
'Where...?'
That was when he felt something warm on his side and realized that his storage pouch, the one that his Uncle Jared gave him, was emitting a very faint grayish light.
Not wanting to affect the formation in case something foreign came out of it, Kyran went over the edge and placed the pen on his hand on the wall. After that, he opened the storage pouch cautiously and peered inside using his magic sense.
Because of his limited magic energy, the range of his magic sense was smaller than usual. Not that it mattered. Since the storage pouch was quite special, there was no need for him to expand his magic sense to check on all the items inside.
Since he had just recently sorted his items, it did not take long for him to locate where the faint familiar aura was coming from.
'This...'
However, he was surprised when he discovered that the faint aura was actually caused by two items suddenly resonating.
'...Why are these... suddenly resonating?' Kyran wondered and took out two items.
One was the Grimoire of Nothingness, and the other was the Ancient Magic book.
