Chapter 2574: You Have Guts

Zu An’s Rainbow Morph was formidable, but Donghuang Taiyi was at least 30% faster than him. It didn’t take long before he was blocking Zu An’s path.

Zu An emerged from his Rainbow Morph to confront Donghuang Taiyi.

“You might have angered me, but you have also caught my attention.” Donghuang Taiyi examined Zu An from head to toe to figure out his background.

“That’s the stereotypical domineering CEO’s declaration. What a pity I’m not the female lead of a romance drama.” Despite Zu An’s casual words, his expression remained grim. His brain was furiously churning to find a way out of this.

Donghuang Taiyi wasn't particularly large, but his presence was so overwhelming to Zu An that it felt like there was nothing else except for him. In spite of Zu An’s many near-death experiences and his recent massive breakthrough, every cell in his body was furiously screaming danger at him.

Donghuang Taiyi frowned. He couldn’t understand Zu An’s statement about domineering CEOs and romance dramas. Experts of his caliber naturally abhorred the unknown. He harrumphed and said, “Forget it. I’ll first cripple your limbs before slowly interrogating you."

He was about to continue making a move when an anxious voice echoed, “Hold on!”

A cloud rushed over and morphed into a beautiful silhouette. It was none other than the Goddess of Wu Mountain. She was accompanied by the Kaiming Six Shamans and Xingtian.

Seeing that she was alone, Zu An was about to ask a question when she meticulously replied, “Miss Chang’e is still on Wu Mountain. You don’t have to worry about her.”

Zu An breathed a sigh of relief. “What brings you here?”

The Goddess of Wu Mountain assessed him with gleaming eyes. “We can’t turn a blind eye when you’re causing a huge ruckus here.”

Her words were filled with awe. Zu An had just shot down nine Golden Crows, after all. This was a feat beyond normal people, and those capable of subduing the Golden Crows would hold back because of their standing.

Zu An had done something else that no one dared to because of his righteous heart. He was courageous enough to stand up for the countless lives who had suffered under the Golden Crows’ tyranny.

This made her harden her expression. I’ll protect him no matter what it takes.

“Goddess?” Donghuang Taiyi frowned at the sight of her. “This has nothing to do with you, so stay away!”

The Goddess of Wu Mountain stood forward and raised her hands to protect Zu An. “The Golden Crows deserve to be executed for their sins. He’s merely enacting justice on behalf of heaven. What fault does he have?”

“Enacting justice on behalf of heaven?” Donghuang Taiyi scoffed. “Heaven has its own will. How can the likes of him be worthy of representing heaven?”

“If he’s unworthy, the same can be said about you lofty gods who turn a blind eye to your juniors massacring the masses!” The Goddess of Wu Mountain raised her slender neck as she berated Donghuang Taiyi. Her firm attitude was at odds with her usual nonchalant self.

The Kaiming Six Shamans were startled. They had never seen the goddess acting like this. Ever since Zu An arrived, they had seen many unknown sides to the goddess.

Her words made Donghuang Taiyi’s expression darken. “Yaoji, I am showing you respect on account of the Flame Emperor. Don’t overstep your boundaries.”

The Goddess of Wu Mountain was unfazed. “I am merely speaking up for what’s right. You celestials are the ones who betrayed the faith of the masses.”

“Audacious!” Donghuang Taiyi roared. An ancient bell chimed out of nowhere.

The Goddess of Wu Mountain moaned and spat out blood.

The Kaiming Six Shamans had their guard up, but the East Emperor Bell’s chime rang straight from their souls, rendering their defensive methods useless. It shook up their ki and caused them to ceaselessly vomit blood.

The chime also left Zu An’s head groggy, but Hundredwarble’s automatic counterattack and the Taotie’s devouring ability minimized the prowess of the chime. Seeing the goddess plummeting from the sky after sustaining severe injuries, he quickly flew over to catch her. He pumped his ki into her body as he asked, “Are you all right?”

The Goddess of Wu Mountain gradually recovered from the blow. She belatedly noticed Zu An holding her by her waist, and that made her blush furiously. However, she wasn’t averse to it. “I’m fine. Thank you.”

The Kaiming Six Shamans, who had plummeted to the ground, rolled their eyes. We fell to the ground as well, so shouldn’t you at least help us up? Tsk, hoes over bros indeed!

“Donghuang, you’re too much!” Xingtian roared. He brandished his massive axe against Donghuang Taiyi. The sky shook as if the world was being severed into two.

Zu An was stunned. Xingtian was holding back back then. His axe is strong enough to even split the Golden Crow Princes in two.

“Know your place!” Donghuang Taiyi didn’t move in the least. He stood on the spot with his hands behind his back, his golden-embroidered black robe fluttering with the wind. He looked like a lofty immortal.

A deep chime echoed. The East Emperor Bell had reappeared around Donghuang Taiyi. Xingtian’s powerful axe hack didn’t leave the slightest mark on the bell.

Instead, the rebound knocked Xingtian back by a kilometer before he regained his balance. He lowered his head and saw that his hands were bleeding profusely. Even so, he didn’t display the slightest fear. He even burst into laughter as his fighting spirit heightened. “Again!”

His muscles bulged, causing his physique to grow visibly. It didn’t take long for him to grow into a three-thousand-meter giant. He raised his humongous shield and charged at Donghuang Taiyi once more. The ground shook.

Zu An was awed. The Shamans are indeed born warriors. Their bloodline harnesses a berserk factor that makes them stronger the longer the battle drags out for.

Pah!

Despite the protection of the East Emperor Bell, Donghuang Taiyi was still knocked a hundred meters away under the sheer force of Xingtian’s charge.

“You’re courting death!” Donghuang Taiyi was infuriated. Despite not receiving any damage due to the East Emperor Bell’s protection, being knocked back in front of so many people pricked his pride. He waved his hand, and a surge of golden light sliced toward Xingtian’s neck.

“Be careful!” Zu An was taken aback. In the legends, Xingtian’s head was lopped off. Could this be the cause of that?

Xingtian narrowed his eyes. The East Emperor Bell was so sturdy that the rebound caused his reactions to be delayed. He tried to raise his shield to guard his neck, but he was a step too late. He wasn’t going to make it in time.

Just as he was about to be decapitated, a water dragon suddenly surged forth and collided with the golden light.

Boom!

The water dragon and the golden light neutralized each other.

“Taiyi, don’t you feel ashamed bullying the juniors?” A snake-bodied, human-headed man arrived at the battlefield riding on a wave. His fluttering red hair was particularly eye-catching.

When the waves scattered, the cracked earth regained its vibrancy. Even the desert that Donghuang Taiyi had reduced into a lava pool was extinguished and transformed into a lake.

Donghuang Taiyi’s face darkened. “Gonggong!”

Gonggong ignored him. He turned to Zu An and shot him a thumbs up. “You did great, lad. You have guts!”

Zu An felt conflicted. The final boss of his previous trip here had been none other than Gonggong, though the Gonggong was from another generation. Nevertheless, it still felt bizarre to receive the approval of the ‘antagonist’.

Donghuang Taiyi scoffed, “Gonggong, have you forgotten the agreement between the Ancestral Shamans and the Celestial Court? That brat killed my nine nephews. Do you intend to break the promise between our races for that murderer?”

Gonggong cackled. “You Celestials have been an eyesore for a long time now. If even a junior dares to stand up against you people, why should I, an Ancestral Shaman, cower?”
