Imprisoned for a Trillion Years, I Was Worshipped by All Gods!

Chapter 598 - Chapter154-A Killing Intent Hidden in the Illusion

“Wait… something’s not right!”

Alan wasn’t so intoxicated by joy that he lost his vigilance.

As his excitement faded, he suddenly realized—Sirius Academy was unnervingly silent today.

Not only was there no sound of Francis wailing from the training grounds, but even the birdsong and insect chirps that usually filled the air had completely vanished.

It was as if, in the blink of an eye, Sirius Academy had been turned into a dead zone.

With Elder Gayle, a Legendary Magus, sitting at the heart of the Academy, even if Lioncrest Academy truly launched a full-scale invasion, it wouldn’t end up like this.

That left only one explanation:

He had been drawn into an illusion—

a powerful illusion magic crafted by a magus.

This illusion made him think he had safely returned to the Academy, but in reality, he had never arrived at all.

“Parlor tricks…” Alan narrowed his eyes and shouted into the empty air,

“Is this supposed to be impressive?

If you’ve got guts, come out and fight me fair and square!”

Tightening the rune cloth bundles slung across his back, Alan continued to shout provocatively at his surroundings.

Soon, the distant scenery—previously solid-looking streets and buildings—began to shimmer and blur.

Out of the dissolving mirage, a thin figure slowly materialized.

The moment the figure took shape, Alan didn’t hesitate.

He charged forward and threw a punch straight at his opponent.

But as his fist neared, a massive, invisible force suddenly struck him.

It was like slamming his hand into a steel wall—pain shot through him, and the back of his hand began to swell.

The thin figure’s appearance gradually became clearer.

He had long bangs that obscured half of his face, and he wore a deep blue robe that fluttered lightly in the wind.

It almost looked as if there was no body beneath it—only a head floating above an empty robe.

Yet, the most eye-catching feature was the necklace hanging around his neck.

At its end was a copper ornament shaped like an eye, from which faint green light occasionally pulsed outward.

Alan’s gaze sharpened.

He could sense it—the mana flowing through the copper eye was identical in nature to the mana within his newly acquired staffs.

This necklace could be absorbed as a mana resource!

Noticing Alan’s burning interest in his necklace, the thin man sighed deeply.

“I wouldn’t bother trying if I were you,” he said wearily.

“I know I can’t beat you alone.

That’s why… I brought help.”

As his words faded, two more figures gradually emerged from the dissolving illusion beside him.

To his left stood a massive man wielding a giant battle axe.

The axe blade was stained with dark, dried blood, leaving no doubt that it had claimed many lives.

To his right stood a seductive woman, curvaceous and alluring.

Unlike most female mages who wore conservative robes, she wore an exotic, midriff-baring outfit.

A small black snake coiled lazily around her shoulder, adding an extra touch of danger to her already provocative appearance.

Alan’s eyes scanned the three opponents in a heartbeat.

All three were at the peak of Tier-Gold, just a step away from breaking into Tier-Platinum.

And from their equipment and demeanor, it was obvious they weren’t orthodox mages—

they were bounty hunters.

“Little brother, why so serious?

You’re gonna scare your big sister,” the seductive woman teased as she sauntered closer.

She bent low, licking her crimson lips with deliberate slowness, her voice dripping with honeyed malice.

“We all saw your little brawl with Big Crossbow earlier.

Honestly, you’re quite the surprise.”

“I always thought only that Alice Duke was worth mentioning in the Plantagenet Kingdom,” she continued coyly.

“Who would’ve thought the Kingdom was secretly raising a rare talent like you in the shadows?”

“If it were just me, I wouldn’t dream of picking a fight,” she added with a mock pout.

“But sadly, my two dear companions owe a lot of money to some very unpleasant people.”

“To avoid becoming test subjects for necromancy experiments…

Well, little brother, I’m afraid we’ll have to trouble you a bit.”

Just as she finished speaking, Alan moved.

In a flash, he darted behind her, aiming a precise, lethal punch at her vital spot.

But before he could land the blow—

Whoosh!

A high-speed ice spike sliced through the air, hurtling straight toward him.

Though it triggered his Stone of Sage’s automatic defense, dissolving into harmless water mere centimeters from his body,

the chill of the water dripping down the back of his neck still made him shudder.

Alan immediately withdrew, putting distance between himself and the seductive woman.

His eyes narrowed as he scanned the traces of ice mana lingering in the air.

Following the trail, he spotted a figure hidden deep within the illusion.

A white-haired woman, barely noticeable, so unassuming that Alan had completely overlooked her at first.

“In a real fight,” came a gruff voice beside him,

“getting distracted is a deadly mistake.”

Before Alan could react, the massive axe-wielder had closed the distance, leaping into the air.

He gripped his giant axe with both hands and brought it crashing down with unstoppable force.

Alan dared not hold back.

In an instant, he cranked his mana Overpressure to maximum, focusing it into his fist to unleash a devastating mana Rupture blast.

Crack!

The moment axe met fist, the seemingly indestructible axe blade shattered like glass.

The big man was sent flying backward, his body folding inward as if punched in the gut.

When he crashed to the ground, he coughed up blood.

Raising a trembling hand to his mouth, he stared in disbelief at the blood, then at Alan, who stood perfectly unharmed.

Shock flooded his heart.

Unlike traditional mages who focused mana outside their bodies,

this man—and elders like Gayle—internalized mana, enhancing their physical prowess dramatically.

They didn’t need staffs;

their bodies were living weapons, capable of absorbing and unleashing mana explosively.

And yet—

Despite this advantage, he had lost the clash.

He could feel it clearly now:

Between him and Alan, whether it was physical strength or mana control,

the gap was vast—

a gulf he could not cross.

Then why was he the one lying on the ground, battered and bleeding,

while Alan stood tall, completely unscathed?

“In a real fight,” a cold voice whispered behind him,

“spacing out is a fatal mistake too.”

The big man’s eyes widened.

Alan had disappeared from where he had been moments ago.
