1086 Chapter 1086: Control
The hole in the ground was dug by the Aether Beast, who wanted to provide at least some level of contribution towards the creator's final resting place.
He watched Karyk place the body in the ground. Some of the soil from the hole still clung to Karyk's hand.
He observed the corpse carefully, feeling the same emotion of sadness as before. It was as if something inside him was not content that the person had died.
"Are you crying?" Karyk was distracted when he heard the Aether Beast call out to him.
"Why would I be crying?" Karyk casually asked, not taking the Aether Beast's words seriously.
"That..." The Aetherian pointed toward Karyk's face.
"Is there something on my face?" Karyk used his free hand to touch his face, only to realize there were tears on his cheeks. He was crying without even realizing it.
"This freaking emotion..." Karyk cursed subconsciously, not understanding why the bloodline he had taken was affecting him so deeply.
"It's nothing," he swiftly responded, releasing the soil from his fist that fell over the corpse of the Creator."You must have a really pure bloodline. Even though you haven't lived here, you could still feel such a strong connection with him." The Aetherian Beast tapped Karyk's shoulder. Previously, he was suspicious of the intentions of Karyk. However, he decided to believe in another Aetherian. His trust had only solidified after Karyk was able to touch the Creator, which meant he couldn't be a bad person.
After seeing him grieve for a person that he had never actually met before, he felt even closer to Karyk. The Aetherian followed suit. Slowly, the grave was covered with the earth that had been dug previously.
The creator was buried in the spot that used to be his favorite place.
"How many Aetherians live here?" Karyk sat at the edge of the cliff, overlooking the ocean. It was truly a place from where the most beautiful scenery of this land could be seen. It wasn't surprising that the Ancestor of Aetherian Beasts liked this place so much. "There are around five thousand of us. Why are you asking about it?" The Aetherian sat next to Karyk. Normally, he would've hesitated in answering these questions, but he had started trusting Karyk more. "That's a lot. Are all of them as strong as you?" Karyk asked, surprised at the strength of the Aetherian Beasts. He had already seen a few thousand of them in the forest. However, it was far from the true number that he had received just now. If there were five thousand Aetherians, then it wasn't a small tribe. It was an entire army. "More or less," the Aetherian replied, still confused about Karyk's intentions behind these questions. "No wonder it's so hard for the youngsters to leave this place alive."
Karyk had heard that this place was dangerous. Even the heirs of the major clans couldn't return alive, despite having various treasures. It was all starting to make sense. If anything, it was more surprising that there were a rare few who had managed to leave this world alive. Despite that, the other clans never stopped sending their youngsters. They were definitely looking for something. And the only people who could answer that question were those people who were sent here by their clans. "Do you know about the intruders who come from outside?" Karyk asked the Aetherian who had become an important source of information for him. "The outsiders? They should be in the outer region. A rare few of them are more annoying and occasionally manage to enter the inner region before we will them. Truly annoying creatures."
The Aetherian talked about the outsiders like humans talked about insects. They were irritating, but they were something that couldn't be completely rid of. "We keep killing them but they never stop coming. Ah, that reminds me. It's your first time here. Do you also want to hunt them?" he asked Karyk.
Karyk revealed an interesting smile response. "I would love to."
This place was closer to his home than the outside world. Similarly, these people were closer to his kin, than the clan that wanted him dead. He was sent here to die after all. He didn't feel any guilt in becoming a hunter. In any case, that was his primary intention when coming here. He was a predator and finally he had a perfect hunting ground. The treasures of the heirs were going to be annoying, but he was sure that he could deal with them better than the Aetherians could. This world was outside the influence of the outside world, at least for now. He could do anything he wanted here. The Aetherian gave Karyk a small crystal. "This crystal allows you to control and travel through the outside territory of this world to some extent. It can also help you locate the outside."
"There are only ten such crystals. I still have one, and the remaining eight are with the hunters that protect the inner region. The Aetherians that hunt in the outer region don't get it, so they have to rely on themselves."
The Aetherian revealed another similar crystal that was even more pure and looked like it was higher tier. "Why are you giving it to me then?" Karyk asked, not being greedy for the purer crystal. For a hunter, it didn't matter which crystal he had, as long as it didn't become an obstruction in his path. "Let's say it's because I feel that you are special." The Aetherian placed his hand on Karyk's shoulder and stood up. He turned around and started walking away. "If you need any help, you can find me in the forest. Or, you can get yourself familiar with that crystal."
The Aetherian walked away, and Karyk didn't try to stop him. Instead, he was distracted by something else. "You are special..." The words were echoing in his mind, making him feel a headache. The voice behind these words in his head felt different. Strange scenes flashed in his eyes, where an unfamiliar shadowy figure was whispering these words to him. ṞᴀℕọВĘṤ
