Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4466: Azariel’s Love Interest

Chapter 4466: Azariel’s Love Interest

"There you are, Azariel. What are you doing there, sitting alone?"

Davis spotted Azariel in the outer courtyard. He was sitting on the edge of the veranda, appearing pretty chill.

"Just relaxing, father. I just came home from another mission- this is like my twentieth mission of the year. I’m earning good."

Davis appeared before Azariel. He looked at his son with a sense of pride, but his expression was hidden. His son looked devilishly charming at the age of eighteen, his blonde hair untied and lightly swaying in the gentle breeze. His purple eyes were also mesmerizing, capable of charming many women, and his body was also toned to perfection.

"Oh, what’s the mission like? Can I sit beside you?"

"Sure." Azariel gestured, a smile creeping up on his lips before he moved a bit, "It’s just the usual, clearing some bandits outside. Their leader was actually a Level Three Immortal Emperor, but fortunately, I was strong enough to take him out."

"I see... do you know our tax system?"

"Yeah, I know..." Azariel sounded displeased, "You’re either taking nearly all out or nothing with our earnings."

"Haha." Davis chuckled, "Don’t complain when you’re receiving resources of extraordinary quality and quantity for free when you’re still earning so much less in comparison. Complain to me when you’re strong enough to earn Empyrean Grade treasures. Then, we can make amends to the tax system."

"Heh... you just wait." Azariel snickered, "It won’t be long before I catch up to you if you’re still in the Immortal Emperor Stage, and surpassing you won’t be a dream anymore."

Davis raised his brows, "You still say that after knowing about my prowess from the rumors floating outside?"

"I know." Azariel sighed at the extraordinary strength his father possesses and the fear everyone has towards him. When he was outside, he dyed his hair black and was also using a fake name known as Arron so no one knew about his true identity. Still, rumors about the Divine Emperor of Death, his incredible prowess, and his triumphs would all enter his ears wherever he went.

From then on, he knew his father was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Many of his siblings might think their mothers did all the work while he remained in seclusion, but without the fear created by their father in the world, he knew everything would crumble.

"But who cares about prowess? Cultivation is king. As long as I reach the next stage after the Empyrean Stage first, who can question me? Not even you."

"Nonsense. Properly increase your prowess if you’re going to even cultivate."

Davis narrowed his brows, causing Azariel to chuckle.

"Don’t take it seriously, old man. I just said that to mess with you."

"Old man? I’m like a half a year old baby." Davis scoffed.

"Nonsense." Azariel returned the word with a sneer, "If you’re half a year old baby, then I’m two days old."

"Yeah? Who’s the fairy that made you interested in romance again?"

"Wah-" Azariel flinched, turning to look at his father.

"Father, have you been keeping tabs on me?"

He asked, his expression turning solemn.

He felt like he should’ve known when his father asked to be seated by his side when he would just be frolicking with his mothers most of the time. He had been caught.

"It’s not like you don’t know a protector is always out there looking for all of your safety, right?"

"I said I don’t need one." Azariel couldn’t believe it.

As a Level Nine Immortal King, why would he want a protector? If he weren’t trying his best to comprehend Laws and increase his prowess, he would’ve long reached the Mid Immortal Emperor Stage at the very least.

After all, the Davis Family didn’t lack in resources. He knew they were rich as the major powers here.

"So, who is she?" Davis continued to question.

Azariel looked irritated, but seeing that his father didn’t change the topic even after ten seconds, he rubbed his head.

"Ugh... whatever, just don’t tell Mother... yet."

"I won’t if what you’re doing is proper as taught." Davis calmly said as he looked at the courtyard.

"I’ll just show you. It’s faster."

Azariel stood up. He flicked his hair as he drove his hand through the hair, making it change color with his energy. He flew away, and Davis also stood up, following him outside the sanctuary even though he didn’t want to since he had his beautiful wives still yearning for him.

Then his son told him the destination, and he used their spatial powers to traverse there.

In twenty minutes, they arrived at their destination.

It was a city called the Gavain City, owned by the Gavain Family. The City Lord here was a Level Nine Immortal Emperor, and the trade here was good. It was a bustling city with stalls on the streets nearly everywhere except the grandiose palaces where the rich and powerful lived.

Davis also disguised himself. There was no point in scaring everyone here.

The two of them were silent while Azariel took him on a little adventure to find the mystery girl.

Finally, Azariel just brought him to her home. They were both invisible since Azariel possessed an invisibility talisman while he was naturally capable of hiding himself easily.

"Even after disguising ourselves, why are we sneaking?" Still, Davis’s brows raised.

"Because the girl’s parents don’t know me."

"Sounds quite illicit, but I guess youngsters are like that..."

Azariel nearly flared, "I’ll eventually reveal myself to them. Because of you, I don’t even know how I’m going to convince them."

"My bad..." Davis chuckled wryly.

He guessed it was his biggest red flag as a father-in-law- being an Anarchic Divergent of the highest order. Unfortunately, he couldn’t do anything about it.

"Don’t be. You’re my father. Others can screw off if they can’t accept you." Azariel’s tone was solemn.

"..."

Davis was moved, but he still kept an indifferent expression and followed.

The girl seemed to be living in a rich off-estate since they moved for a while before they actually entered her mansion.

But suddenly, things took a turn for the worse.

Azariel stood stunned as he saw his love interest talking to a man on the balcony. They maintained a fair distance and were smiling and laughing together.

Davis looked to and from, wondering what was going on. He used his soul sense to check and saw that there were guests in the main hall. After hearing what they were talking about, he barely heaved a breath.

’Oh boy... they’re marrying off the girl to another family... and the girl seems jovial and fine with it...?’

Davis took a look at the girl, who seemed nineteen years old, a bit older than Azariel. She was clad in a luxurious white robe, and her short crimson hair appeared wavy and adorned in ornaments. Her bosoms were enormous for her age but not as much as Evelynn’s, causing Davis to glance at Azariel, wondering if they had like the same taste.

Regardless, he saw the girl’s mannerisms were good, and she was capable of moving and acting nobly. Clearly, this was an aristocratic type of family.

The two of them said nothing. Davis also waited.

After some time, the family left, but they had already listened to the conversation between the two families- marriage was decided between the girl and the boy of the other family.

He seemed to be the City Lord’s little brother’s second son, which meant he would have a fair amount of resources and influence within his hands in the future in this city. All of them were young parties, so Davis didn’t think much, but for Azariel...

As expected, he was fuming with a cold look on his face.

Azariel took a step forward.

"Azariel," Davis called out, causing Azariel to come to a stop. He turned to look at this father.

"Don’t worry. We’re not that deep, but she did say that she would like to have a future with me, so I’m merely going to confront her about it."

After saying his piece, Azariel moved towards the mansion, heading inside while the guests went outside.

After some time, Azariel confronted his love interest in her room.

"You- how are you here!?"

The crimson-haired girl was visibly shaken by Azariel’s sudden appearance in her room. Her bosoms heaved as she took a few steps back. She panicked a bit before finally calming down, her expression changing into one of a cold demeanor.
