Schleya sighed, “Yes, she chose to stay a while ago and make use of the resources found here in order to protect you as you stay here and be of help to the family later on. She is determined to protect us when we go to the Upper Realms.”

Illumina silently nodded.

She thought going to the Upper Realms would be like traversing the Nether Dimension- full of hostility. There would be no place to run, and their battles could be endless, so she decided to evolve and become an Exalt Beast. She was aware that it could take long since she had to hunt Nether Devils and feast on a hundred before hibernating under a Nethermoon Crescent Tree.

However, she already obtained the corpses of the Nether Devils, so what was left was to find a Nethermoon Crescent Tree and hibernate for one or two years.

This was one of the three methods her inherited memories revealed regarding her evolution. The other two were too bad, requiring the help of male Nethermoon Mirage Rabbits and other resources, which she didn’t want to do. She was honestly irritated since this just went to prove a rabbit is still a rabbit, but she didn’t want to see it that way as she wanted to be a warrior.

“Isn’t the Nether Devil’s black blood poisonous?” Vereina asked with a bit of doubt.

“Their black blood loses its poison ability against nether creatures after they die, so it’s apparently a tonic for them. Illumina is also a nether beast, so it is good for her.” Schleya explained, “I also have blood refining methods, so if it is not good, I can help Illumina.”

Her inherited memories as an Emperor-Tier Beast contained the methods but didn’t reveal what it would be like. Naturally, she could just force her way into the Exalt Beast Stage and become a Grand Ancestral Magical Beast, but she didn’t want to lose her Emperor-Tier trait and burden Davis and Everlight when they were already of immense help.

She was also aware of the karmic burden that Everlight was carrying for evolving them without paying attention to her own well-being, so she wanted to make her own efforts as much as possible, and that intention became fairly strong when the corpses of the Nether Devils fell on her lap like it was preordained.

“No, you will return after becoming a Deathhowl Revenant Wolf while still being in the Immortal Emperor Beast Stage. Otherwise, I won’t know how to explain your absence to Davis or your children. Do you want him to break the Covenant and storm here to come to your aid?”

“Noo~” Nadia whimpered before she quickly lowered her head.

Schleya nodded.

Honestly, she felt it was good that Nadia and Illumina thought that way. She figured that they would face the same situation they faced here in the Upper Realms but without the Divine Nether Totems, which meant that they would be screwed.

It would be good to have Exalt Stage powerhouses in their family. However, it cannot be Nadia.

Who knew how long it would take before they entered the Upper Realms? Although she wasn’t good at figuring out emotions, Schleya deemed that Nadia must be together with Davis no matter what. Besides, she didn’t want to be hated by Davis for leaving her here, so relaying that Nadia would return within a few years was the best that she could do.

They talked and discussed more matters before Schleya, and the others finally left, making their way back.

This time, they had the Nether Orb Cobra Clan protect them with the help of Azbel, so they were able to return back to the location of the portal while Nadia went inside the second trial to hibernate and die in order to succeed in her evolution.

Finally, Schleya made it back and explained the matters to Davis and the others, finally saying that they had collected so many Nether Devil Cores and many other resources, mostly yin-based elements.

Davis absorbed all the information, finally accepting the situation as it was before he opened his mouth.

“Then I have another mission for Illumina and Vereina that could begin as soon as next year or later. Natalya will also come with you to this place called the Netherworld Chasm, which is deep inside the Yinfall Abyss in a region called the Ghostly Yin Region. She will fill in the deta-”

“Ghostly Yin Region…!?” Nyoran waved her arms like flapping her wings, looking alarmed.

“The death wolves said that’s a place where ghosts and Nether Devils mingle. It is also one of Nether Devil Territories, so heading inside will be difficult.”

“I know.” Davis smiled, “Weren’t you a Ghostly Crow that hunts ghosts once?”

“Was I?” Nyoran’s expression was stiff.

Davis chuckled, “Don’t worry. It won’t be too difficult since it is said to be just a farm by the Forsaken Yin Lotus Sect. I know Illumina will accept because of her strong sense of duty, but tell her if she doesn’t want to, she doesn’t have to. As for Vereina, tell her if she accepts, then I will accompany her to that old witch even if I have to break the Covenant.”

“Oh, you don’t need to worry about that.” Nyoran shrugged, “The Nether Orb Cobras actually know that one of the Grand Ancestral Magical Beast Clans has a way to enter the Shadow Dimension, so Illumina, Vereina, and even Rokushi Mirai are planning to head together to that old witch after nearing their peaks.”

“Oh?”

Davis raised his brows, looking honestly impressed.

It seemed like some of his people were becoming stronger and more decisive he had to play catch up from this point onwards. Sometimes, he wondered if someone would give him a reason to break the Covenant since he also felt vexed, but such an emergency hadn’t arrived yet.

Conveniently, it also accommodated his own cultivation progress, which was slow because he had to go through some really vexing cultivation sessions, so he had no choice but to take it calm and steady.

Nonetheless, he didn’t lose his calm.

“Tell me more.” He asked, intrigued.

Eventually, Davis agreed to let them proceed as planned since their idea sounded good and calculated. However, the journey to the Netherworld Chasm, which was necessary to retrieve the Nether Yin Lotus Core, the component Natalya needed to create her Godskull, remained in place.

Time passed.

Just like that- another year had passed, opening the curtains to the Fifth Year of the Covenant.
