How to Deal with a Tail-biting Enemy Plane?
“`
This time, the players gathered under the huge screen waiting had increased by an order of magnitude.
Even when the progress bar reached 29%, numerous players had already stopped in their tracks, finding good spots to squat and wait early on.
——And it was just 9 o’clock in the evening.
Everyone thought the trailer would unlock soon, after all, there was only 1% progress left.
How long could it take?
But they overlooked something important:
The progress had reached 20% on Monday morning.
By the time it reached 29%, it was already 9 o’clock on Wednesday evening.
Nearly three full days had passed.

If one paid attention to this and did a little calculation, it would be realized that each 1% of progress in [Return to the Stars] was a huge number.
——That’s a whole 100 million progress points!
This slight oversight caused who knows how many players around the globe to wait for nearly three hours under the enormous holographic screen…
until 5 minutes shy of midnight, when the task interface finally disappeared, and the screen turned pitch black.
The long-anticipated trailer finally arrived fashionably late.
“Monster Hunter!!!!!”
Among the waiting players, a group of relentless players shouted out their desire for the third time.
But unfortunately, the very first shot of the trailer completely shattered their fantasies——
A massive rocket, nearly twice as large as the largest rocket ever launched in reality, stood silently at the launch site.
The sunlight shone from above at an angle, making the rocket’s silver shell glisten.

The next moment, an organ began to play a grand and magnificent melody, the camera quickly panned down, the rocket ignition, blaze erupted!
The colossal rocket fought against the pull of gravity and slowly ascended.
Viewed from an intentionally close and upwards angle, the scene was truly staggering.
The players seated on small stools under the screen were instantly stirred up, becoming excited one by one.
Since everyone was sitting together, there was no need for comments, and they started chatting on the spot:
“Is this another space-themed game?”
“An astronaut simulator?”
“It’s not about an accident and then repairing the spaceship, is it?”
“Maybe it’s a space adventure game?”
…
Everyone controlled their volume, but because so many people were talking at once, their chatter merged into a cacophony, and the scene inevitably became noisy.
But the very next second, everyone simultaneously shut their mouths.
——Because the spectacular rocket, rendered in bold and intense colors, suddenly exploded.
And it wasn’t due to an accidental failure, but was blown up by a short-range missile!
The very next moment, the camera switched to the camouflaged person shouldering an RPG on the edge of the launch site.
The players were stunned on the spot.
The grand symphony of the pipe organ changed too, its rhythm suddenly became lively and light.
As the camera pulled away again, everybody finally realized: this place was not the peace of pre-launch at all, but rather had already descended into chaos!
Inside the rocket launch tower, which should have been cleared, gunshots were constant, the giant rocket exploded while slowly falling and crushing the launch tower.
This left everyone somewhat bewildered:
“What kind of game is this exactly?”
Amidst everyone’s confusion, the scene had already moved away from the rocket launch site, to the snowy mountainous skies above.
A sci-fi inspired streamlined bomber slid into the frame from the right, dropping astonishingly heavy bombs while flying at low altitude.
“`
Every aerial bomb that hit the ground burst into a large white dahlia on the mountains below.
As the bomber flew, a series of white dahlias bloomed in its wake.
Until three missiles tore through the sky, trailing white smoke and rapidly closing in on the bomber.
The bomber adjusted its course to dodge one, but it was still hit by the two following closely behind.
In the screen, there were no sounds of explosions, only the sound of wind over Snow Mountain and a faint song carried by the wind.
In the midst of this windy silence, the bomber explosively fragmented into debris and then plummeted downwards.
The next moment, the lens shifted to the mountains below, where a soldier dressed in a snowy combat suit was holding a gun, looking up in confusion, as pieces of the bomber’s wreckage rained down from the sky.
Like a deadly shower of iron, it brought death to the outpost.
He turned and ran!
Behind him, the tower collapsed, fuel exploded, and the ground was pockmarked with craters.
Finally, he reached the edge of a cliff and then—he leaped!
Looking back midair, he saw the main body of the bomber crashing down with a thunderous roar upon the small outpost, followed by a violent explosion.
He quickly turned and drew in his limbs, diving rapidly downwards.
Below him, one comrade-in-arms after another opened their parachutes to escape by leaping off the cliff.
But even more enemies appeared suddenly, equipped with jet-powered wing suits, exterminating them with ruthless maneuverability!
The soldier skimmed past the burning parachutes and whizzing bullets, and with a sweep of his arms, his wing suit unfurled instantly.
The lens, as if tricked by his sudden deceleration and change of direction, lost him as he flew out of the frame.
The second scene ended, and the players were even more baffled.
But the trailer left no time for players to ponder, moving relentlessly onto the third scene—
This time it felt somewhat familiar to the players because they were presented with an urban backdrop.
Though it didn’t resemble any city in reality, the sight of the city shrouded in thick smoke and streets echoing with gunfire and explosions was familiar to everyone.
However, the lens only showed a soldier charging forward with a mechanical dog, and the next second, it followed a fighter jet zooming into the clouds overhead.
Unfortunately, the jet wasn’t in a very optimistic situation—it had just managed to take down two armed helicopters flying between buildings and suppressing ground troops, when another fighter jet clung to its tail and wouldn’t let go.
For pilots of similar skills, this was almost certainly a desperate situation.
But the protagonist in the frame wasn’t panicking.
He yanked the rudder sharply, and the fighter jet immediately pulled up to climb vertically!
The enemy plane behind didn’t show weakness and lifted its nose to follow!
An experienced brother had already commented:
“Wrong!
Just vertical climbing isn’t enough!
He needs to pull off a climbing turn, followed by a barrel roll, and if that’s not enough, tack on a Cobra maneuver…”
Before he could finish, they saw the pilot in the frame glance back at the enemy plane catching up, then suddenly trigger an ejection, launching himself out of the cockpit!
The brother was immediately stunned into silence.
But this was only the beginning—
The next second, the pilot ejected into the air somehow produced an RPG from seemingly nowhere…
As soon as the pilot mounted the RPG on his shoulder, the enemy plane was already rapidly approaching from below, almost skimming his face!
The pilot didn’t miss the opportunity and pulled the trigger calmly!
The RPG hit its mark accurately!
“BOOM!!!”
The enemy plane exploded instantly!
The explosion was so spectacular that the fiery blaze erupted before his eyes, scattering a myriad of brilliant iron sparks in all directions like fireworks!
After the fleeting explosion, the pilot brother discarded the RPG and grasped the now decelerating fighter, resealed the cockpit, and once again took control of the jet.
In front of the screens, the players, to a man, were flabbergasted…
