Chapter 1870: Locating The Passage
A few hours later.
Klaus’ figure could be seen quickly approaching a canyon. Getting to the entrance of the canyon, Klaus stopped to take a good look at the area. If the information he received from the Gnome was not wrong, then the passage they used to come into their world should be around here. One thing Klaus understood from these passages is that not all of them could sustain the passing of a powerful expert. This is one of the main reasons the Gnomes haven’t been able to invade on a large scale by now, the lack of passages strong enough to withstand the top experts passing through.
The Gnome Klaus got his information from is a Fifth stage Sovereign, since this passage is strong enough to allow a Fifth stage Sovereign, then it had to be destroyed. He did not directly follow the words of the Gnome, there was no way he would fully trust the words of a Gnome, but given the Gnome’s condition at the time of the questioning, he felt the Gnome did not have the nerves to lie.
The canyon stretched for as far as the eye could see, stepping into the canyon, Klaus cautiously headed in the direction where the passage was located. Going deeper into the canyon, Klaus followed the paths the Gnome showed him, and after a while, he soon found traces of a battle. He could sense that the fight was still ongoing even from this far out.
According to the Gnome, a passage linking their world to the Gnome World was located here, and if a battle is currently underway, then it must mean the Gnomes were fighting against an enemy. Although Klaus had all these thoughts, he did not mindlessly rush forward, taking his time, he made sure there were no traps or laid out ambushes. It was only after a while he confirmed that there were no traps did he increase his pace.
It did not take long before Klaus arrived at the scene of the battle, and it was just as he predicted, the Gnomes were indeed engaged in a fight, and from what he could tell, their opponents were also humans. Without any hesitation, he rushed into the fray.
At the moment there were just barely about twenty humans battling against over thirty Gnomes. And the strongest expert among the twenty humans is an Eighth stage Sovereign. The Gnomes did not have any Sovereigns in the Late stages, but they had seven Sixth stage Sovereigns who all had Seventh stage Sovereign Puppets. With these Puppets, they were able to easily overwhelm the Eighth stage Sovereign.
Klaus’ sudden arrival alerted all parties, but the human experts heaved a sigh of relief when they realized that the new person came to help them.
Klaus rushed straight to the middle of the siege and forced two of the three Puppets holding the Eighth stage Sovereign back.
Getting the chance to catch his breath, the Eighth stage Sovereign unleashed a powerful strike at the single Puppet fighting him, cutting off one of its arms.
“Thank you.” He said to Klaus while sending a stream of lightning at a Puppet that was about to cut one of his companions from behind.
“It’s nothing. Leave these three with me and help the others.” Klaus stepped in front of the Eighth stage Sovereign, blocking the Puppet whose arm had just been cut off from attacking the man. With a simple push of his hand, an ice wind blew out, sending out a series of ice arrows at the Puppet.
The Eighth stage Sovereign was a man who looked to be in his forties, seeing how easy it was for Klaus for stop the Puppet, he nodded and rushed to help the others. They have already lost a few people, and if he delayed any longer, a few more would die. Although he was not confident Klaus could deal with all three Puppets, he felt he would at least be able to hold them back for a minute or so.
The Gnomes did not expect someone so powerful to suddenly join in on the fight, helping the humans. They calmed down after sensing Klaus was only a Seventh stage Sovereign. Due to how he rushed in and was able to force back two Seventh stage Puppets, they thought he was a Ninth stage Sovereign. They could use their superior numbers against an Eighth stage Sovereign, but a Ninth stage Sovereign can almost one-shot a Seventh stage Sovereign if given the chance, and these Puppets aren’t entirely as powerful as when they were still humans, nor were they as smart.
“Help us kill him quickly.”
Three Gnomes were controlling the three Seventh stage Puppets Klaus has stopped from joining the fight. If the Eighth stage Sovereign was given enough time, then he would be able to destroy all their Puppets. At the moment, the Eighth stage Sovereign had already fully overpowered one of the Seventh stage Puppets, destroying parts of its body.
The Gnomes did not bother with the Eighth stage Sovereign, placing their focus on Klaus. They felt since Klaus was a Seventh stage Sovereign who is already facing three Puppets in the same cultivation stage as himself, adding one more will make this an easy win.
A human was torn in two by a Seventh stage Puppet, before it shot straight to Klaus.
Klaus, who was still facing off against the three Seventh stage Puppets sensed the fast approaching Puppet and could not help but smirk. A chill spread from his body, and everything within a twenty meters radius started to freeze. The fast approaching Puppet got within this range just as Klaus unleashed his domain and its speed slowed down visibly. Taking advantage of the Puppet’s reduced speed, Klaus attacked, impaling the Puppet from above with a large ice shard.
The Puppet tried to dodge it, but it could not escape in time and it was impaled to the ground. As soon as the ice shard made contact with its body, it started to freeze. The other three Puppets attacked almost at the same time Klaus managed to impale the Puppet. Knowing he could not deal with all three attacks simultaneously, Klaus retreated, destroying the impaled Puppet that had completely frozen solid on the way.
“How?”
