Chapter 1604: Monarch Burying Dirge

Weng! As Li Luo's voice filled with killing intent echoed out, his figure shot into the air as he waved his spear and hammer, causing a terrifying attack of dragon source origin to sweep out like a devastating tsunami towards the Enchanting Fox King.

The Enchanting Fox King bellowed in response as her corpse tails swung like nine whips of doom, blasting out a barrage of corruption source origin in retaliation.

She didn't believe that a sixth-grade Transcendent, even with the aid of Heavenly Dragon formation, could have the ability to kill her. Bang!

The two Kings clashed yet again and in a few short moments, their source origin energies collided repeatedly, the scene resembling the heavens and the earth collapsing with the end of the world being nigh. Meanwhile the Other wave rushed towards the City of Southwind.

When the experts on the walls saw this, they hurriedly got into formation.

As they prepared to defend the city with their preparations, Jiang Qing'e led the peak experts of the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li to strike first.

Towering Duke Bergfrieds appeared in the air, copiously swallowing worldly natural energy, before sending out attacks that ripped through the Others with ease.

Although there were Other Kings who had appeared, the vast majority of the Others faced by them were far inferior to the ones the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li had dealt with during the Stygian Rain Other Disaster. Thus with Jiang Qing'e, Li Jiluo and Li Qingpeng and other Pinnacle Dukes, these ordinary True Devils were crushed like brittle twigs. Jiang Qing'e was particularly eye-catching as her sacred light resonant power were like rays of purification, wherever they swept through, regardless of whether it was a True Devil Other or an ordinary one, they were vaporized into smoke before dissipating without a trace. With her strength, even a ninth-grade True Devil would find it difficult to last a few rounds against her, much less these cannon fodder.

"How impressive!" Meanwhile the experts from the Xia Kingdom couldn't help but to gulp upon seeing this domineering scene, their morale soaring.

A bloody war had erupted outside the gates of the City of Southwind.

However the Xia Kingdom's experts felt a little more relaxed than before due to the presence of Jiang Qing'e. Any True Devil Others that appeared were instantly annihilated into wisps of smoke by a ray of holy light. Without the pressure of having to deal with high grade True Devils, the ordinary squads of the Xia Kingdom were more than capable of dealing with the leftover True Devils.

The pressure and danger to their lives dropped dramatically.

Such a smooth battle caused the likes of Yu Lang and Bai Doudou to feel completely shocked. Ever since the Other Disaster had plagued the Xia Kingdom, in the past few years, every attack of the Others had only been repelled with bitter battle and countless lives lost. More often than not, they wondered if they would be the next to fall in the line of duty. They knew just how difficult it was to fight against the Others and thus the scene before them even felt unnatural! This sort of inexplicable fortune and change of situation caused tears to well up in their eyes.

Was this dire disaster about to finally come to an end? That said everyone also understood that the reason why the battle was unfolding so smoothly was because the Other Kings were unable to interfere. Thus for them to end up victorious, would also depend on the battle between the Kings. Everyone's attention then turned towards the four sub battlefields where the Kings were locked in brutal combat. In particular, the one that most paid attention to was the battle between Li Luo and the Enchanting Fox King. Li Luo's actions were brutal and merciless and he resembled a divine dragon descending to the earth, with a tyrannical fleshly body with a terrifying aura. No matter how fierce the attack of the Enchanting Fox King was, he would shrug it off with his robust defenses before launching yet another flurry of strikes. In the span of an hour, both sides had already exchanged over a thousand rounds of blows, exhausting the worldly natural energy around them and causing it to turn thin.

Li Luo struck out with his Light and Dark Spear yet again, arcing across the skies in a trail of rainbow light as he forced the corpse tail backwards whilst his other hand brandished the Golden Bone Hammer, smashing the void and causing frightening fluctuations of force to swamp towards the Enchanting Fox King yet again. The Enchanting Fox King was sent flying as the gigantic body was torn apart, black blood spurting in every direction. However a short moment later, countless threads emerged from the ruined body parts, stitching the wounds back together.

Li Luo squinted when he saw this. A King possessed incredible amounts of vitality as their resonances had been transformed by source origin energy, whilst their bodies fused with this. Thus so long as they possessed source origin energy, they could never be truly destroyed. This very concept was something a Duke could never even begin to fathom.

A true qualitative gap existed between the Duke and the King stage. If he had not borrowed the power of the Heavenly Dragon formation to push his body into the King stage, none of the cards available to him could effectively harm the Enchanting Fox King. Thus as the battle between the Kings continued to unfold, on the larger battlefield, the Xia Kingdom was beginning to vanquish the Other horde with overbearing force due to the aid of the experts like Jiang Qing'e, Li Jiluo and Li Qingpeng.

At this point, everyone could see that the Four Pestilence Kings offensive would no longer be able to even touch the City of Southwind's walls. Thus they started to have thoughts of retreating.

In the end, as the sun began to set in the west, dimly illuminating the battlefield, the Other Kings which were tied up fighting against Pang Qianyuan, Li Qingying and Lan Lingzi began to retreat at the same time, releasing a burst of corruption source origin which sent the trio reeling backwards.

Pang Qianyuan and the other two didn't show any signs of pursuing their enemies. They were very clear that although they held the advantage during this fight, it was not enough to attain a decisive victory. Kings were simply too resilient and possessed too many mysterious means to protect themselves. Thus they understood how arduous the task was to actually slay a King! Just being able to send the opponent packing already filled Pang Qianyuan with satisfaction.

As the Ichythian King and the rest began to escape, the Others ceased their assault, receding like the tide.

On the Xia Kingdom's side, morale was at an all time high as the sounds of fighting and pursuit resounded through the skies.

Weng! On Li Luo's side, the Enchanting Fox King was still shocked at the result as she was forced to retreat with each pummelling blow. The nine bloody tails had been stripped bare and deep scars could be seen on her body.

Li Luo wasn't unscathed either as the Hundred Battles Platemail revealed numerous cracks and even his body was injured. Even so, this was just a minor flesh wound to him and with the upper ninth-grade Heavenly Dragon resonance along with King stage power and dragon source origin, his body had reached untold levels of physical endurance and power. Thus as his body radiated source origin energy so condensed it formed golden smoke, the Hundred Battles Platemail quickly started to show signs of mending and any corroded wounds due to corruption began to heal.

"Was your name Li Luo? I'll let you live this time but when you lose the assistance of the formation, I'll definitely flay your skin and hang it on one of my tails. All of your loved friends and families will not be let off either and I'll make sure you'll all be one happy family!" The Enchanting Fox King could sense the scary fluctuations of power coming off Li Luo's fleshly body and she understood that it would be difficult to emerge victorious as well. Thus she didn't plan to bog herself down in an extended fight and cursed him viciously.

"Oh?" When Li Luo heard those words, a ferocious glint could be seen in his eyes whilst his expression turned savage. He didn't have any intentions to retreat and instead took yet another step forward, his body bashing through the void like an unstoppable ram as he attempted to strike the Enchanting Fox King yet again.

"You clearly can't tell the difference between life and death!"

Seeing that Li Luo was unwilling to hold back also infuriated the Ichythian King, Cadaverous King and Demon Witch King. They bellowed and the void shook, whilst they attempted to surround him.

Even so, the Kings on Li Luo's side wouldn't let them have the opportunity to do so either. They once again took action, summoning up boundless amounts of source origin energy to block them off.

"Principal Pang, help me restrain the three Other Kings." Li Luo roared.

Pang Qianyuan helplessly replied, "Li Luo, Kings are not so easily slain. So long as a single strand of source origin remains, they can reconstitute their true bodies, preventing them from being killed. Normal methods cannot destroy source origin either!"

Just as Pang Qianyuan finished speaking, Lan Lingzi and Li Qingying's gaze turned focused as they cast their eyes towards the ruined wasteland covered with endless abysses and chasms.

Over there, an ancient sword hymn resounded through the skies. Bang! A vast and endless amount of sword energy rushed into the air from beneath the ground. As the sword energy flowed, it materialized into an archaic and esoteric sword formation that slowly shifted. Within the sword formation were five Dragon Fang swords that quietly lay.

The sword energy that whizzed through the formation was dark as the night sky and was so sharp that even the Kings felt a tingling sensation on their scalp by merely looking at it.

"Is that a Transcendent Art?" Between Li Luo's brows, the golden Apex Resonance Crystal Core that resembled a vertical godly eye began to erupt with incredible amounts of source origin energy that resembled miniature dragons which merged with the sword formation.

As he glanced at the five Dragon Fang Swords that took form, a boundless orb of sword energy that could imprison any object within appeared. This was the Sword Prison! However, just five Dragon Fang might not be enough!

Li Luo bellowed into the skies as the Heavenly Dragon resonance within him began to go into overdrive, dragon source origin rushing out and tempering the five Dragon Fang Swords further resulting in even more peerlessly sharp sword energies being produced.

"Sixth sword appear!" He then formed a hand seal as endless amounts of crystalline light shone and a resplendent Dragon Fang Sword created from crystal arose.

The sixth sword, Crystal Dragon Fang Sword! With the appearance of the sixth sword within the formation, the dark sword energy immediately turned berserk.

Even the likes of Pang Qianyuan felt a hint of fear towards it. Li Luo stepped into the void as his violet gold long hair dappled in the rushing winds. His gaze was solely locked upon the escaping Enchanting Fox King as he roared with murderous intent. "Since usual methods won't work, then I won't do anything ordinary. Today, I'll be sure to achieve my goal of slaying a King! No one will be able to save her. This is my declaration!"

As he bellowed thunderously, the Myriad Resonances Dragon Fang Sword Formation began to operate and in the depths of the Sword Prison, an enchanting but deadly hymn could be heard... one that would instill fear in the hearts of any King who heard it. The Monarch Burying Dirge!
