Chapter 3672: Ru Guo
“My lord, there is another matter that I must report.” Lan’s face was still pale. Clearly, she was wounded.
“Speak.”
“Old Yu is dead.”
The High Seraph was caught completely off guard. “He’s dead?”
“Yes. Young Master Yu reported that Old Yu is dead,” Lan replied.
The High Seraph frowned. “How did that happen?”
Lan hesitated. “The report said that it was related to Seraph Lu.”
The High Seraph instantly understood that Old Yu had ended up getting involved in the conflict between Yue Ya and Lu Yin.
There were battles that could not even be approached without reaching a certain level of power. While the High Seraph had long been wary of the Wisdom Domain, that caution had not been because of Old Yu himself. Rather, his caution was of the Ru family behind the Wisdom Domain, as well as the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.
Old Yu considered himself clever, but the truth was that, most of the time, he simply ended up being too clever for his own good. He always looked to the future, and he must have sought out a new patron after the Ru family was destroyed. Unfortunately, he had not found someone that he could truly rely on.
After all, he had only submitted to Boundless by Yue Ya’s order.
“Then I guess he’s dead.”
“What about the Wisdom Domain? It appears that their hidden heir is also dead, so Young Master Yu is asking that we acknowledge him as the new ruler of the Wisdom Domain.”
“Hasn’t the Wisdom Domain already submitted to Boundless?”
“Well, Young Master Yu said nothing about it, but I suspect that he currently resents Boundless for Old Yu’s death.”
The High Seraph was not at all concerned. “Leave them to their own devices, but treat the matter as you normally would. If they lack the necessary power, then the Wisdom Domain can also be replaced.”
Lan’s expression instantly changed. The Wisdom Domain was even older than the High Seraph. If that domain vanished, the repercussions would be unimaginable.
This was especially true given that the Wisdom Domain had recently submitted to Boundless. Regardless of the reason for Old Yu’s death, targeting the Wisdom Domain would be nothing less than slapping Boundless in the face.
What are Lord High Seraph’s intentions?
...
News of Old Yu’s death spread, which sparked a huge commotion. It had not been long since Old Yu had openly declared his allegiance to Boundless, and yet he was suddenly dead. There was no avoiding some people growing suspicious, and many started to eye the Ascendant Hall.
Many were also curious to learn who would become the next ruler of the Wisdom Domain.
The domain’s hidden heir had always risen to become the eventual domain ruler, but there had been absolutely no movement from the hidden heir.
Outsiders had no idea that the hidden heir was already dead.
During this time, Young Master Yu had also attempted to get in touch with Lu Yin, but all of his attempts had failed.
In this manner, time passed. Hua Manyi vanished entirely, and Lu Yin’s overwhelming consciousness grew even stronger, nearly doubling in strength.
After all, Hua Manyi was the most powerful conscient that Lu Yin had ever devoured, having been more powerful than both Blackless God and Whiteless God. Those two had only been at the sequence powerhouse level with Celestial-realm consciousnesses, whereas Hua Manyi’s had reached the Universe realm.
Lu Yin’s strengthened consciousness also doubled the power of his Nine Heavens Transformation, granting him even more confidence than before. The stronger his Nine Heavens Transformation became, the more each level would amplify his power. At present, Lu Yin believed that he was strong enough to directly clash against the High Seraph.
That man’s Everlasting Will had once swept five of the Thirteen Luminaries away, but Lu Yin currently felt that it was possible for him to overcome the High Seraph’s Transcended Sequence. In the past, he had to cooperate with the Origin Progenitor to accomplish that.
His soaring confidence left Lu Yin wishing that he could also devour Wu Wei’s consciousness.
Fortunately, he restrained himself. After all, devouring consciousness was not cultivating it on his own, and Lu Yin needed to keep his foundation stable.
He raised his hand to roll his die again. He obtained something useless from Pilfer. Rolling again resulted in Gift Copy; was there someone whose innate gift he could borrow? He did not want to waste this roll.
Lu Yin moved out and instantly appeared in front of Yuan Qi. To the old man’s astonishment, Lu Yin clapped a hand on his shoulder, startling Yuan Qi so badly that he nearly attacked.
Hmm? Nothing?
Lu Yin was amazed.
In front of him, Yuan Qi was badly shaken, and he stared at Lu Yin in confusion.
Lu Yin simply turned around and left, disappearing from sight.
Yuan Qi was terribly confused. What just happened? He looked at his shoulder, bewildered.
Lu Yin was similarly taken aback. He had never considered the possibility that Yuan Qi would not have an innate gift.
When cultivators in the Spirit Nidus underwent their Spirit Rebirths, they might also experience a Spirit Transformation and obtain either an innate gift or a spirit weapon. Yuan Qi had received a spirit weapon known as the Dao Bell.
Just like the Tianyuan cultivators, many Spirit Nidus cultivators were born with an innate gift. Someone as powerful as Yuan Qi should certainly have one, and yet he had none at all.
Lu Yin had targeted Yuan Qi to see if the old man was possibly hiding some secret.
He found it highly unusual that the High Seraph had exiled Yuan Qi for learning about the Lesser Spirit Megaverse.
However, if Yuan Qi had been keeping an innate gift hidden, it would have been impossible to hide it from the die’s Gift Copy ability.
In the end, Yuan Qi truly had no innate gift.
Lu Yin stared at the distant, massive battleships. They were capable of traveling between magaverses, which made them universe-class vessels on the same level as Boundless.
The Ark Domain was bustling, and beneath Lu Yin’s feet, Boundless had taken on a completely new look.
“Third Boss, Young Master Yu has repeatedly requested to speak with you,” Old Tao called out.
Lu Yin glanced over, and Old Tao respectfully delivered a spirit cloudstone.
“Speak.”
“Lord Seraph, please advise us on the direction that the Wisdom Domain should take now.”
Lu Yin asked, “What’s the Ascendant Hall’s position?”
“They have stated that, if the Wisdom Domain lacks the necessary strength, it can be replaced.”
“That won’t be necessary. Your wish is granted. From this moment on, you are the ruler of the Wisdom Domain.”
“My lord, I- I...” Young Master Yu was at a loss for words.
Lu Yin’s expression turned cold. Still pretending? The man had someone behind him. There was no doubt that he had been ordered to betray Old Yu. If Lu Yin’s guess was correct, that person was most likely the High Seraph.
The High Seraph may have put on a show of leaving to search through parallel universes in order to avoid getting dragged into the battle between Yue Ya and Lu Yin, but the truth was that the High Seraph had been watching the entire time. There was no way he would ever allow Yue Ya to succeed. If the High Seraph was willing to let such an outcome occur, he would have never created an opening for Old Salamander to ambush Emperor Wu.
Young Master Yu’s display of nervousness and hesitation was nothing more than an act for Lu Yin’s benefit.
Given the current situation, there would be no issue with Lu Yin demonstrating contempt for someone useless.
“I’ve fulfilled my promise to you. You are now the ruler of the Wisdom Domain. That’s all.” With that, Lu Yin moved to end the call.
In the Wisdom Domain, Young Master Yu was completely caught off guard by this turn of events. He had expected to be taken in by Lu Yin, especially after he helped set up Old Yu. Young Master Yu had become the ruler of a domain; surely he possessed some level of value, right? Unfortunately, he was too weak to pose any sort of a threat. How had things gone so wrong for him?
Lu Yin was apparently ready to discard the donkey after grinding the grain.
“Wait, my lord! I have something more to say!”
“Go on.”
“Well, the Wisdom Domain is connected to Heavenspire, and it also wields great influence in the Spirit Nidus. We can do much for you, my lord.”
Lu Yin smiled. “Then you should think carefully about what exactly you can do for me.”
With that, he ended the conversation and looked up. An unexpected guest was visiting.
Outside the Ark Domain, someone emerged from the void and stared at Boundless with a complicated expression. The man had not expected to return to the vessel so soon.
It was none other than Ru Guo.
“Senior Ru Guo, what brings you to my Boundless?” Lu Yin’s voice rang out.
In outer space, Ru Guo continued to stare at the ship. “I would like to speak with Seraph Lu.”
“Please, come in.”
Ru Guo took a single step forward and entered the Ark Domain. He avoided everyone as he stepped onto Boundless and arrived in front of Lu Yin.
This was the first time that the two were meeting. While they had both been present in the Northmount Domain, Lu Yin had ambushed Old Yu while Yong Heng had simultaneously attacked Ru Guo. Those simultaneous attacks had sparked the confrontation. Ru Guo was exceptionally powerful, and he had managed to escape. He had not made any appearances since then, until finally arriving at Boundless now.
Ru Guo looked at Lu Yin with open admiration. “Seraph Lu, you truly are unbelievably young. When I was your age, I hadn’t even managed to become a Spirit Ancestor yet.”
Lu Yin chuckled. “Are you praising yourself, Senior?”
“Of course not.”
“In our Tianyuan Megaverse, becoming a Progenitor is as difficult as ascending the heavens. It’s practically unheard of for someone my age to achieve such a thing.”
Ru Guo said, “And yet, in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, it’s not considered all that remarkable.”
Lu Yin arched a brow. “Is the Nine Odysseys Megaverse really that powerful?”
Ru Guo’s expression turned serious. “The purpose of my visit is to clear some things up for you and to give you a basic understanding of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.”
“Why?” Lu Yin asked. Ru Guo’s visit was a genuine surprise to Lu Yin.
Ru Guo let out a deep sigh. “Cooperation.”
“You and me?” Lu Yin was again surprised.
“To be precise, my Ru family and Boundless.”
“You just recently attacked Boundless, and now you want to cooperate with us? Is this how the Nine Odysseys Megaverse operates?” Lu Yin felt like he was hearing a joke.
Ru Guo replied, “There are no eternal enemies, only eternal interests.”
Lu Yin agreed. “While that may be true, what can you offer me?”
Ru Guo pointed upward. “I know about the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, and you can learn about all of that.”
“Why do I need to know?” Lu Yin asked casually. “In my understanding, the people of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse are not able to enter the Spirit Nidus without permission, let alone my distant Tianyuan Megaverse. I can simply avoid interacting with the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.”
Ru Guo shook his head. “Seraph Lu, that does not sound like something the ruler of a megaverse should say. If the Nine Odysseys Megaverse truly poses no threat to you, then why bother working with Yong Heng?”
Lu Yin smiled. “We’re not exactly allies. You could instead say that we have a bit of an understanding.”
“An understanding between enemies? How enviable.” Ru Guo sighed in admiration, still staring at Lu Yin. “Then let me put this a different way—my purpose in coming here is to offer an explanation to Boundless. I attacked this vessel before, and that incident cannot just be swept under the rug.”
Lu Yin studied the other man. “It appears that you truly are without other choices.”
Ru Guo’s expression fell, and a hint of helplessness entered his voice. “To be frank, we really don’t. The survival of the Ru family is far more complicated than it seems, and the title of Lesser Sancte is more of a curse than anything. Everyone wishes to see us fall.
“In the past, because of the Spirit Nidus, the High Seraph arranged a fight against my elder brother, Ru Shi, who was a Lesser Sancte. My brother died in that battle, which led the Nine Odysseys Megaverse—especially Yue Ya and the other Lesser Sancti—to become extremely upset with the High Seraph. They see the Nine Odysseys Megaverse as supreme and the Spirit Nidus as not even possessing the right to resist. They scorned the Ru family for my brother’s defeat, even as they despised the High Seraph for his arrogance.
“For my Ru family to protect ourselves, we need allies, but the High Seraph is not an option. As for those from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, Dan Jin stays out of worldly affairs, while Xing Fan is in league with Yue Ya; all in all, none of them are an option. Right now, all I want is to return to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. As long as we can enter that megaverse, I’m confident that I can ensure the Ru family’s survival. That place is where our roots still lie.”
Lu Yin understood. “There are still members of the Ru family alive in Heavenspire.”
Ru Guo nodded gravely. “Even my daughter, Ru Mu, is still alive, yet all of them are imprisoned within Heavenspire by Yue Ya’s people.”
“You can’t be expecting me to go with you to rescue them from Heavenspire, are you?” Lu Yin asked, raising an eyebrow.
Ru Guo let out a bitter laugh. “Of course not! I will tell you the plan, and you can decide whether to accept it—it's that simple. I’m willing to pay the price for this. You can ask me anything, Seraph Lu. But when you've reached our level, the changes in the megaverses hardly matter. No matter where we go, we will always be at the peak."
